We celebrated my husbands birthday, dinner for two. We shared the full size kale ceasar salad with roasted chick peas and gluten free. The truffled chicken dinner and scallop, pork belly risotto were delicious. Their bartender makes great classic margaritas too. McKenzie our server was friendly and attentative to my gluten free needs. It always feels safe eating gluten free here. The chef plans to put their gluten free fish n chips back on the menu soon, they are delicious. Looking forward to that. Its so difficult to find gluten free fish n chips. We will be back.
The food was very good. The fish is cooked in a cider batter that is gluten free. Many other items on the menu that are gluten free. I would rate the wings as on the higher quality end comparatively. Service was good. The waitress was attentive and knowledgeable on the menu. We were seated promptly without reservations. I would try a different dessert next time. The one pictured wasn't bad but not my taste. I would recommend this location.
The food was great. Service was quite fast, we had arrived at the end of a rush. As a celiac the gluten free options were not well detailed on the menu and I had to inquire. Our server Vee was knowledgeable about the menu. The space is small though and can get very loud when crowded.
Good food (gluten and lactose free), great service. The patio is dark and feels very confining. No sunshine at all. It's summer, let the sun in!!
$150 for 2 lunches, 3 drinks.
Crave is the spot in Kingston for baked goods, coffees and sandwiches! They have such a good selection of treats and everything is soooo yummy. They have gluten free and vegan options too. It’s always busy for a reason, and though you may struggle to get seating on a weekend, it’s still worth a stop to get something delicious. And if you are lucky enough to get a spot to seat, it’s a great place to study, meet with friends or work on your laptop.
We had an amazing brunch at Lay Low. The food was super tasty, service was incredibly friendly, and the atmosphere was great.
We had the egg white omelet and the Nest. Flavours were well balanced, portions were the perfect size.
My husband has celiac, the staff was well versed in what he could and couldn’t have. We will definitely be back.
This was my one of my fave travel breakfasts ever.
There were two Coco Frutti locations I visited in Kingston and this one was a bit more upscale. I believe the building is newer, the decor was fancier and I really loved the atmosphere.
The menu offers plenty of choice without being overwhelming. They also serve alcohol, and anyone who knows me is well aware of my mimosa obsession. The mimosa here is top notch.
My server was Rebecca, such a hard-working and sweet person. The restaurant was busy and she was the only server I saw. If she was handling the whole place by herself, you would never know. She handled those tables like a pro.
The computer system even went down shortly after I'd placed my order. The guys at the table in front of me had to wait for their bill, but she was so apologetic and professional. Handled that situation like a pro too. She never missed a beat.
I was so excited about the Tex-Mex Benny. I could even get the poached eggs and veggies on a gluten-free buckwheat crepe. It was such a treat. The hollandaise at some places can be too mustard forward, but it is perfectly balanced here. The plate also came with guacamole and crispy potatoes that were tender inside. The breakfast was fabulous, just fantastic and I ate every bite.
Both locations were very good, but this one edged the other out in decor/seating/colour scheme of the building and there were more veggies on the benny at this location. But both servers were top notch.
I tipped Rebecca well. That girl was working so hard and never broke her professional, kind manner. Some places treat me less than being a solo diner, but she treated me like every other table and even took the time to ask me about my day. It's a serious plus when your server take the time to get to know you a little bit. She asked me if I made a mistake with the tip and I told her no, she was working so hard and always making the best of a situation that was difficult at times. She teared up. Such a sweet hardworking person. She made the experience as much as the food and drink did.
If you want a fantastic breakfast/brunch, stop in here. You will not be disappointed. I definitely want to visit Kingston again and will always stop in here for that amazing Tex-Mex Benny!
While I do appreciate the quality of the food and gluten free options, I have to say the service is really lacking. Waited an hour for avocado on toast which like, doesn’t even require cooking. After taking forever to serve our food, staff rushed us to pay and leave asap. I was informed by the waitress that “we have a wait list” while she was pacing back and forth in front of our table to really lay the pressure on. The whole thing was almost funny.
Updating my ad as a regular to pitapit across ontario- In the midst of the lunch rush, the employees Brandon & Marion stood out today- taking exceptional care leaving me with nothing but confidence as a gluten-free diner.
The vibes were absolutely amazing and the food was also delicious. There were options for vegetarians and options to swap out for gluten free! I got their espresso martini (it was called a javatini) and it was the best Ive had. Very sweet and not too strong, a good amount of foam on top too. My chicken tacos were also delicious. The only thing I would say is that the portions are definitely not huge but it was great regardless. It was so cute in there. The service was also very good.
Popped in super quick for a coffee and snack while road tipping from Kitchener to Ottawa. Didn’t expect much, and boy was I surprised! Sweet shop, great vibe, eclectic décor, great service, outstanding coffee and the best gluten free cookies I have ever eaten in my life… I kid you not! Stopped again on the way home! Totally worth it! This is the new regular stop for this trip!!! Highly recommended!
As a celiac, Denny's is always a reliable place for me to eat breakfast when I am traveling and I appreciate that.
Candi at the Gardiner Rd Kingston location is a fantastic server. Fabulous service.
It is a decent restaurant. The menu is extensive. I had the steak and lobster that was on special. The 8 oz steak was a had some gristle and was a bit chewy. The lobster tail was smallish. The veggies were hard, barely warmed up, and I like them that way. The price was right $28, I think.
The pumpkin pie was nice.
I noticed they also had a gluten free pasta option and a gluten free bun for their burgers.
All in all, a good place for what it is and I will go back.
One downside is that it was noisy.
The Grocery Basket is absolutely amazing! Their food is consistently fresh and delicious, and their coffee truly lives up to its name "Freakin Good Coffee". I have started using them for my catering needs and they have been incredibly accommodating with various dietary requests, such as gluten-free, celiac, vegetarian, vegan, and diabetic diets. They are always able to come up with creative and different options to meet everyone's needs. Additionally, they have been very understanding of my last-minute lunch requests and always deliver. The Grocery Basket is now my go-to for both personal and work needs. Thank you Grocery Basket!
They got the order wrong. Apparently, they did not have gluten-free in the larger size as ordered. Rather than calling to tell me, they made the smaller size. When I picked it up, they did not tell me. When I got it to the family, we found they had made two of three smaller even though one was a normal pita.
I called and requested the order be remade without the gluten-free option. This was repeated three times during the call to the staff, who repeatedly asked what I would like done to resolve.
I drove back, and in the way, the owner phoned to ask what my problem was. I repeated the issue of the wrong size, and he spoke to the staff in front of me on my phone. They were told to remake the order. When they hung up, they asked what I would like to order. I repeated that I wanted the order remade.
It took them several minutes to begin making the order. Eventually, it was made correctly. They also gave us the two small ones rather than throwing them out.
While the final resolution is ok, the need to repeat a request that many times is why only one star for staff. We also were not refunded the extra charge for gluten-free.
This was my first time. I'm unlikely to return even though the food was OK once made again because we realized in the end they got the sauces wrong on the final order.
Wish I could rate the food higher since my companions thought it was good but their lack of gluten free options made it a serious chore to order. Back and forth a to the kitchen only to be told just the salad was gluten free. Pricey for lunch.
