Note: Only writing this to let the owner know in case they aren't aware of the celiac review apps and the recent change. It's otherwise an excellent place with amazing staff and food, hope that it can get resolved for the celiac community.
Something has gone wrong with their sourcing of gluten free ingredients.
I have celiac and suddenly after incorporating this restaurant into my diet my blood work numbers have exploded upwards. I track my numbers very closely multiple times a year and I've done a lot of elimination and it points pretty heavily towards this place as being the culprit. This also reflects in the reviews for find me gluten free website where people are getting violent reactions in the last year. Hopefully they eventually figure out where the gluten is coming from so that other celiac individuals and I can go back here again as their food is otherwise very tasty. I would recommend them to redo the testing that they once did in 2019 to figure out where the source of the problem is. Thank you
A great gluten-free bakery with good sandwiches. I love Pushkins and this one does not disappoint. They don't have as much food as the other ones or paninis like babes but they still have a pretty good selection of baked goods. It is a very small cute store but there is no seating inside which is not the best in the Sacramento Heat. But I come here often to get baked goods for the house.
I’ve heard such amazing things about this place so I was really excited to try it. I ordered my food on Uber eats so that may have made the difference with dine out. The pizza was OK, I didn’t love the cheese and there wasn’t a lot of sauce. However, the bread was great especially gluten-free. The fries were a little bit cold so that might be why they weren’t so good but I wasn’t in love. And the mac & cheese was OK. It was probably the best thing out of all three items that I tried. I just wish it had more cheese. I would definitely try it again, but would try different items or in person this time.
My friend, who is severely celiac, got very sick here. They say all the food is gluten free, but that’s obviously not true. We looked up everything about this restaurant after she got sick and saw the review of some other person on this site who also got sick. They sell a lot of oats, so that’s probably why she got sick. Cross contamination. Watch out!!! For the not celiac’s, the food is good it just isn’t totally gluten free.
I had the California Sandwich on Focaccia and it was so yummy! I was meeting some friends to yap, so I didn’t want to be stuffing my face the whole time and stopped ordering after the sandwich, but I WANTED TO DO NOTHING BUT STUFF THEIR WHOLE PASTRY CASE into my mouth! I’ll definitely have to come back another time on my own just absolute pig out on everything!
My sisters who are gluten free had their jaws to the floor with how many wonderful options they had here. Literally there jaws were to the floor. It was hard to have them eat after because they both had them stuck down there. It was a little embarrassing. The food was great! As someone who can eat gluten, you hardly missed it. Zack signing off.
Amazing food, and the Oaxacan old fashioned is awesome! Also if you are celiac the whole restaurant is gluten free so you can eat everything and not worry!
horrible service. i ordered a blueberry muffin and the person next to me ordered one a minute after. they had me pay for it and then told me they were all out and gave it to the person. this was after waiting in line for 20 minutes. the staff has absolutely no manners. if your looking for good gluten free food with good service save yourself some time and choose a different bakery.
they also do a horrible job at making accommodations. i ordered myself an omelet and told them i could not eat mushrooms and they gave me an omelet with mushrooms. then got annoyed and took another 20 minutes to make me a new one. and it was undercooked and smaller than the actual serving size.
Their happy hour deal is great. The nacho fries were delicious. Everything was so good we came back for brunch the next day and got the gluten free waffles (they were a bit too sweet, but good nonetheless, wish there was almond butter on it to balance out the strawberry jam? syrup?). Always great to have a gluten free and dairy free place.
Needed a wedding cake for a small group that was vegan & gluten free. It being nut free was an added bonus as we did have a friend with said allergy that I was just going to buy regular cupcakes for. We got the small brownie cake with coffee frosting. It’s a very rich cake and we had plenty of leftovers. It was so cute and the perfect size for our small group.
If you love fries half as much as I do, this is definitely a place to come! Their loaded/drunk fries with carne asada??? Oh my goodness. The guacamole had just the right amount of spice, the Pico wasn’t too citrusy, the fries are FRESH CUT potatoes, the meat seasoned to perfection. The melted cheese? The aioli on top?…. Like woah, I’m blown away. 10/10 would highly recommend.
Also, the street corn was good! Was piping hot!
*the drunken fries are gluten free for those that are wondering*
House bread with garlic butter, hot shrooms (star of the show), and Caesar salad were excellent. I think I would return just for those three things. Joey was an excellent server. I knocked off a couple stars because although our appetizers came out quickly, we waited an extremely long time for our entrées and the pesto fusilli came out room temperature, nearly cold. They accidentally served us a gluten-free widow pizza, and shortly after brought us one with the regular crust. The smoked date purée on the widow sounded intriguing, and although it was tasty, there was way too much slathered onto the pizza. I would not go so heavy handed with that covering the pizza. So overall, the entrees were meh, but the appetizers excellent!
We had an outside table, the food, the weather, the drinks were fabulous! We were enjoying everything so much we forgot to take before photos! So many gluten free options! We will be back!
Best pasta joint in LA! Been coming here for over 20 years. When I discovered that they had GF options, I literally did a victory dance because I didn’t have to give up on one of my favorite places. I wish they’d make their tiramisu in a GF version…that’d make this place perfect.
Great gluten free dairy free options!
I’ve ordered in and done delivery via their website (which is cheaper than delivery apps by the way) - super high quality food, could not recommend enough :) a new local favorite
Great service, very little wait. Pizzas were good, and love their gluten-free pizza options. Even though it’s a chain, it’s a nice place and worth the Uber!
Small coffee shop. Sells vegan and Gluten free coffee and treats! Right across the Safeway here. Everything is delicious. I would highly reccomend the Dever cupcake for any sweet tooths out there. And if u love your vailla, you will love it more. The cake is very moist and delicious. Its not at all overpowering with vanilla cake and frosting. 😋🫰🫰
I go here all the time for the sweet plantain bowl so I got it catered to my birthday party ! It was a super easy process and my guests said it was the best food they'd had catered at an event! We had vegan and gluten free people and so it was able to accommodate everyone :)
Visiting Monterey for the weekend and was looking for a gluten-free cafe to grab some lunch. Ended up at Nece's GF and YUM! The ancient grain bread I chose for my sandwich was superb, the snickerdoodle cookie was just the right amount of sweet, and my dog got all the love while we were sitting outside on the patio. Definitely will return next time I'm in town. :)
Delicious and nearly everything is gluten free, too. It was so good that we ate there one night and went back for lunch the next day to try some things we didn’t eat the night before.
Mmmm! 💗
The Dough Room!
My pizza was so tasty 🍕
I’ve been to a few pizza places with gluten free and this spot had a delicious gluten free crust! 🤤
I topped my pizza with alot of tasty toppings like,
Olive oil
Crème fraiche
Onion
Broccolini
Garlic
Mushrooms
Black olives
Arugula
Herbs
Basil
SOOO GOOD
I ate it for dinner & breakfast 😄😄
When I first arrived I asked about the gluten-free burritos and the first thing he said was that they were not a gluten-free restaurant but that they try their best to limit cross-contamination...so I ordered an El Pastor burrito and my husband ordered a steak burrito. I added some of the sauces from the sauce bar like pico de gallo, a spicy sauce, and the avocado sauce. Both of the burritos were delicious, however, 8 hours later both my husband and I were sick. I had severe cramps and diarrhea and my husband had diarrhea as well. This was not our typical reactions to gluten so I believe it was more likely food poisoning. I talked to Alex today about this and he was very apologetic and helpful. he said he could give us a refund but I mentioned to him that what's more important is to figure out why this happened, to make sure no one else gets sick. He told me that no one else got sick the rest of the day, but I reminded him that most people won't call or make the connection. He said that he would talk to the owner about it and make sure everything was kept at the proper temperature. I didn't see if they were using gloves when they filled and folded the burritos, but from now on, I will request that just in case it was a matter of unwashed employee hands... hopefully not. The place seemed clean otherwise, so it shouldn't be that! The music was too loud for us also... that's why I didn't give a 5 star atmosphere rating.
Such a tasty cozy brunch spot. We got a spot outside as this place tends to have a long wait time. They provided us blankets as it was chilly day. Make sure to get their biscuit - the gluten was well worth it as I'm a lil intolerant.
My sister and I will stop by here just to grab their Buffalo Cauliflower Bites *Drooling* and we absolutely refuse to share we have to get our own order.
The vibe is anywhere from casual and relaxing on the patio to romantic and fine dining inside. The menu is constantly evolving with the seasons. I have tried many of their burgers as a lettuce wrap and with the gluten free bun, pumpkin doughnut holes, asparagus risotto, and peach pie! Revolution never disappoints. They share a parking lot with Temple Coffee & a :10 second walk to the Coop or Pushkin Bakery!
Freekeh is a hidden gem in SF and strikes that rare combination of amazing food, service, and ambiance.
We ordered a house sampler to try their various spreads and could not decide which one was our favorite- they were all that good, though the muhammara is a must-try! I am gluten intolerant and they happily accommodated me with homemade GF lavash-esque chips to go with the spreads.
We also got the cauliflower and three different skewers - would highly recommend the kufta and shish tawook (chicken); each came paired with different sauces and were incredibly well marinated and tender. We tried two desserts and loved the halawa o buza- creamy, nutty, and the perfect amount of sweet.
Our dining experience was complemented by the owner and waitress, who took great care of our table and simply radiated kindness and warmth. It was such a pleasure to dine here and we can’t wait to come back!
