This place is amazing for celiac or gluten allergy. They have gluten-free vegan batter that is cooked in a separate area. I had the Pizza crepe ans the honey bunny both amazingly delicious. The owner was very nice and helpful. Definitely coming back!
This was my first time visiting this establishment, and I have to say my experience was absolutely incredible from start to finish. The service was warm and attentive, and the food? Simply amazing. Every dish had such bold, unique flavors, and I really appreciated the wide variety of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options on the menu.
I ordered the Crab Scramble with vegan eggs, which was packed with flavor. I also got a side of the bison sausage it was my first time trying bison. While I personally prefer chicken or seafood over red meat, the sausage was still well-seasoned and tasty, with subtle notes of onion and bell pepper (not sure if that was intentional, but it worked!).
My mom ordered the Shrimp and Grits, and I got to try a bite and wow. It was a flavor explosion. I've never tasted anything quite like it before rich, savory, and perfectly balanced.
We all shared the Bananas Foster Pancakes, which were sweet but not overpowering, with a unique flavor that really stood out. I also tried their Iced Matcha Latte delicious and classic in taste. If you're looking for a traditional, less-sweet matcha, this is the one for you.
My cousin ordered the Cat Daddy Biscuit, and once again great flavors, perfectly cooked, and the sauce was on point. My aunt went with the Bearcat Breakfast, a more traditional option, but she swapped in the bison sausage, and it paired beautifully with the eggs and potatoes.
The only downside? Parking can be a bit tricky, and there might be a wait ours was about an hour. But trust me, it’s absolutely worth it.
Next time I'm in New Orleans, I’ll be back without a doubt!

You always hear about the amazing beignets in NOLO but guess what are even better?!? Calas!! I found Cafe Calas when planning our first family trip to New Orleans. My daughter and I cannot have gluten so I was trying to find GF beignets. Instead I found this delightful spot. The owner, Brandon, was so friendly and gave us the fascinating history of the cala. We all really appreciated his passion and of course his delicious treats. The calas were fantastic as was the coffee and coconut water. My only complaint was that he wasn't open every day of our stay!! Definitely go if you are visiting NOLO!
Went on a Saturday so it was crowded but they found two seats together for us. The Southern BLT was delicious, especially the fried greens tomatoes. Wish the gluten-free items were posted more clearly on the printed menu.
It was a busy morning and they said they couldn’t really handle the volume of people so cross contamination was difficult. I had the frittata (I knew I shouldn’t have) and got absolutely smacked by gluten. I’m sure this place is safe for gluten intolerances or allergies, I’d be cautious with celiac.
What a beautiful, delicious, cozy experience. The shrimp and grits were phenomenal, and they have gluten free options noted on the menu! The staff was kind and welcoming and gave us space but served us well. We we will definitely be back!
Been coming to Nola for Mardi Gras for the past three years running, and never miss a chance to eat at Another Broken Egg. Food is great, awesome gluten-friendly selection for us gluten-sensitive folk! Ask for Jenny!!
I would give 6 Stars if I could. For an early morning breakfast, there is no other option near the French Quarter. Whole menu available for breakfast.. you can get a curry, a salad or traditional breakfast and smoothie / juice. Menu clearly marked for gluten free and nourishing vegetarian options. Very very delicious and friendly service. Fast and low prices considering all the ingredients. Nice decor and truly an oasis! PS, you don’t need to be gluten free / vegan or vegetarian or health conscious to have a great meal here!!
If you've recently lost a loved one (egg, milk, gluten) then this is the place you need to try. They work magic. I don't know how they make brioche or pastry cream without eggs or dairy but they did it excellently.
Kay was probably one of the best servers I’ve ever had! I am Celiac and can’t have gluten. She took her time explaining all the breakfast options and I had the incredible gluten free French toast. The service from every person was excellent, the place is clean and friendly and all five of us had incredible meals!
I go here several times a week. Chili Avocado Toast on GF bread is a go to. Vegan scramble is great, too. Don’t miss out on the dirty lemonade! This is a great little local cafe with gf options available. I don’t have such a severe issue that I need to worry about cross contamination, so I can’t say that it’s celiac safe, but it works for me!
As some with multiple, severe food restrictions, Lamara was a wonderful surprise. Almost everything is gluten-free, and I had numerous dairy free and mammal free options as well.
Delicious and unassuming with friendly folks taking your orders and making your food, this is the hidden gem we all look for. Excellent breakfast tacos, gluten free and vegan offerings and what looked like amazing sandwiches along with delicious coffee, juice and chai drinks. Great space to hangout and answer emails or gather with friends. All dining is outdoors, but looks onto a beautiful street.
Great local breakfast spot. Even when there’s a line, service is fast. Very affordable and high quality food. They normally have a gluten free muffin or pastry option as well.
We stopped here for breakfast. Then, we chose to try their Beigntes. They came 4 on the plate. And although there is a more famous place on New Orleans that makes them we tried both. Both my wife and I feel this place makes the best Beigntes so far. Properly made dough and cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend them. Now digging into my Boudin omelet and her bourbon street breakfast. The Boudin omelet is great. It is light and fluffy. The hashbrowns are freshly grated and not over processed. My wife's pancakes are crazy good. I try to stay away from gluten, but I would eat these cakes and deal with the side effects without complaining. Hell yes, I drank the Boubon at 9:15am. No, I do not have a drinking problem. Bourbon while having some spice was smooth. If you are on New Orleans, put Cafe Fleur De Lis on your list to have for breakfast. Love it and will be back next time we are in New Orleans. It's really good.
Decent food. Server allowed me to switch out corn grits for potato when she found out I can't have milk or cream. They have gluten free toast. Server also recommended the rta bus and streetcar for me to go to the art museum. Very convenient and saved a lot of money
Perfect in every way! It has wonderful in door and outdoor seating. The selection has many options for gluten free and vegetarian patrons. The atmosphere is comfortable and cute serving as the perfect place to study, get work done, and connecting with people. I love this place!
Really cute cafe with delicious food we had the crab meat omelette (must have) shrimp and grits (must have) gumbo soup, biscuit sandwich and migas. Fresh squeeze juices were great. The biscuits are made from scratch and wonderful. No gluten free bread but there are some gluten free and vegan options in the menu. Cute vibe inside. No reservations so be prepared to wait but it’s soo worth it.
What a great find. Off the main drag in a colorful neighborhood, with plenty of parking. Very good coffee. A few gluten free options. Fresh juices. Pre-made goodies, quiche, bfast burritos (so-so). Eclectic vibe. Music went along with the vibe, perfect volume. We came at 1:30 in the afternoon, no wait and open seating.
My group of 8 had the best experience here. The food was absolutely incredible (the bacon was magical), and there were good options for the gluten free and vegetarians in the group. The owner was friendly and delightful. This is a must visit if you are in the area.
I’m vegan and the options were not very good. The smoothie was full of ice and not blended very well. I got a sandwich on gluten free bread and because the bread was gluten free it doesn’t hold like normal bread. But most restaurants with gluten free bread know to toast it so it doesn’t get soggy. They did not toast the bread and it was soggy.
My husband loved gf blueberry donut (not truly GF because cooked in same fryer as gluten items - for celiac people). We loved key lime, chocolate, and especialy dirt cake donuts too! Cakey, flavorful, fresh even though we went after dinner! Nice and strong iced latte too!
Great venue with lots of food options including vegan, vegetarian and gluten free. When we were there was amazing local musicians! Very NOLA experience!
I love the iced matcha lattes here. I appreciate that they hand whisk the matcha and store it in an opaque container. They have a few gluten free pastry options which are all tasty. I'd like to see more gluten free options in the future.
I have a new bakery crush. The chocolate and Satsuma cream croissants brought me to my knees; so perfect in flavor and texture. The espresso latte was immaculate; every swallow a balanced and buttery mouthfeel. Bakehouse makes me forget about all those other bakeries I had been flirting with. I am fantasizing about my next visit; my breath steaming-up the pastry case, skin flushed and heart racing over which to choose next…
I have my eyes on that long rod of sexy gluten called The Muffuletta Breadstick. Ayu! Ayu! Ayu!
The service was stellar. Beautiful experience. Overwhelming satisfaction.
P.S. Muffins would be a lovely addition to the menagerie of the patisserie.

PICCOLA GELATERIA IS THE REAL DEAL!
Ria creates gelato with love, knowledge, and only the purest ingredients! If are buying “gelato” any where else in New Orleans, you are not eating the real deal. Other “gelato” storefronts are serving you Ice cream dressed up as gelato. Piccola Gelateria creates the softest, smoothest, creamiest, yummy goodness! She has dairy-free options that have no right to be called dairy-free. All but the Cookies Black are gluten-free. Take a trip to Italy without leaving New Orleans and visit PICCOLA GELATERIA
This is, quite literally, one of the best, if not the best places to eat in NOLA for this price range. The menu has something for everyone...vegan, gluten free, sweet tooth, savory. My favorite breakfast place in the world, and I am super snobby about breakfast. Probably the only place in the world where you can get homemade ice cream and donuts, gourmet coffee, draft beer, frozen mimosas and coffees alongside a funky menu that includes the perfect breakfast burrito and fried cauliflower bites that taste like general tsos chicken. You will want to come back to this place as soon as you leave. So freaking delicious... ALL DAY!
I trust all the Brennan’s restaurants with my celiac disease. They have good gluten free breads and always reassure me to limit cross contamination. The food is always good too
Very, very disappointing. We first found High Hat on a post Katrina visit and it was awesome. Our experience Tuesday (1/2) will be our last. Server told us they were out of BBQ shrimp. My wife is gluten-free. Instead of trying to work with us on an appropriate entrée, she offered fried popcorn shrimp. Huh? We found Pascal's Manale and had a glorious meal.
Easiest 5-star rating I’ve given. What a hidden gem. Intimate for sure. Great date spot. Make a reservation with a large party. All of the above was going on when I stopped by. The owner, Moncef, knows several different languages, wonderful charm to the guy!
And now the food…
Chicken was organic and tasted fantastic. The dish I got was supposed to come with couscous but I told him I was gluten free and he replaced it with a great-tasting yellow basmati rice.
Ate till my stomach hurt. The meal actually “felt” homecooked. The atmosphere is also really great. Never once felt rushed and the waitress is super-polite. It exhumes a feeling of luxury service, home love, and culture yet it comes in this small restaurant room. Gold!!
(The *only* thing I’d improve on is adding a sign on the interior door that says “entrance to Jamila’s Cafe” and a “please wait to be seated sign”. Everyone I’ve seen enter, including me, gets confused by where to enter. Also, adding a “restrooms down the hall second door to the right” sign would be helpful on the other side above the door so people eating know where to go.)
Delicious food and pleasant service. We actually went back a second time since we enjoyed it so much. The crepes, pancaked and breakfast sandwich was all good. They had yummy gluten free pancakes the first time but unfortunately not the second.
Honey’s serves delicious, healthy food, breakfast and dinner! There are always simple, healthy tasty food choices on the menu. My favorite breakfast item is the quiche with a crust of thinly-sliced potato, so it’s naturally gluten-free and delicious. Dinner menus are always changing to keep things interesting.
