I have Celiac and this place was outstanding. I immediately let the server know I have Celiac and asked about the dedicated fryer and cross contact and she confirmed and said everything can be made gluten free except for the mushroom 'escargot'. The food was absolutely incredible. We got the slow cheetah drink, sweet corn hummus, moroccan onion dip, Big Eye Tuna & Summer Melon, Feta & Olives, Crispy Potatoes, and Lamb & Beef Kefta. All amazing, and I think our favorite of the lot was the moroccan onion dip. They have house made gluten free crackers for the hummus dips that were very delicious and crunchy. I always wait to write my reviews until the next day when I know I'm not sick from being glutened, and can confirm I did not get glutened here. Wish I took more pics of the food!
My boyfriend’s son has severe peanut and tree nut allergies as well as Celiacs. We called the day before and the manager, Jennifer, walked through the meticulous precautions they take to make sure he can eat safely. She went out of her way to watch for and make a note on our reservation. From the moment we stepped in the restaurant everyone was aware of his allergies and they even have a dedicated gluten-fee menu. Jennifer checked in with us and made sure we were doing well. The food was phenomenal, the service was phenomenal, and we were so grateful to be able to dine somewhere that truly understood his allergies. Highly recommend this restaurant! Thank you!
Delicious food. One of the most flavorful fast food places I have tried in a long time. Made fresh to order, delivered quickly and accurately, and great service made the visit enjoyable. Also, a completely Gluten-Free restaurant. I had the Sweet BBQ bowl with chicken, and would gladly order it again.
I'm gluten free and they took my restriction very seriously and were so thoughtful and kind! There's gluten free pasta and plenty of dishes to choose from. Customer service was 10/10!!
this was the most delectable experience ever!! all the food was so fresh it felt like i could taste its source. my friends and i were taking photos of our amazing meal and then…the manager comes over and asks if we would want to tag them in a post with one of their desserts on the house!! of course we agreed and not only was the dessert amazing but it was also vegan and gluten free along with many of the options on the menu. my friend who is vegan and gluten free and she said there was plenty of options for her and the staff was extremely accommodating! our waiter also went through the menu and explained everything in through detail since it was our first time. so overall 100/10 experience!!
My sister has celiac and hasn’t had fried chicken in over 20 years. She ordered it and was absolutely blown away at how delicious it was. The executive chef came to our table to ask how the meal was for her. The manager spoke with us and was very friendly attentive. She sent us a gluten free dessert to enjoy. This was one of the most enjoyable meals and experience we have ever had. The staff are exceptional.
My friend and I were visiting for 1 night only in Chicago and stopped here for breakfast. The server we got was AMAZING. Super personable and upbeat! Our waters never got low, trash was never on the table for long, we were checked on often, and we had everything we needed! They also offered gluten free pancakes which were AMAZING!!! I loved them. They were light/easy on the stomach and tasted like regular pancakes. Next time I find myself in Chicago, I will be sure to come back. Please don’t miss an opportunity to dine here! 10/10 y’all are perfect and we love you❤️
Went here for Valentine's Day - long story short, not impressed. I've picked food up here before and did not appreciate there is a whole other room called the "Oyster Bar" - booked the table and thought we were sitting in the main dining room area (which has a more refined aesthetic). When booking on OpenTable the restaurant should give you a choice of room because they are very different. The Oyster Bar is much more casual and feels like a diner. Further, it feels like it hasn't been renovated in some time, feels a bit beat up. For the price we paid, would not go back. You get better bang for your buck elsewhere in Chicago. Food overall was pretty good. Ordered the filet, which was acceptable but $65.00 and didn't feel right in the down-scale setting. The other entre we ordered was the Seafood Salad, which was nothing special and definitely not worth $37.00. Service was good. We also had a member of our party with a gluten allergy and they handled that very effectively (and confidently). Only change I would make is to print off new menus and clean up a little more. When we sat down there were crumbs all over the seats and the menus were bent up.
It was a perfect meal, I just needed to start with that. After all these years of traveling around the world and having experienced some of the best (and worst) food out there, this is on my top 10 for pastas, hands down. If I could, I would give Torchio 10 stars.
We have tried pastas from many Italian joints in the US and overseas, including some of our unforgettable experiences in Italy, we know well that underneath all of that simplicity lies much love in those dishes. Handmade pasta requires dialy efforts from 5am, this is when everything starts. The rest takes fresh ingredients and balance in flavors, but what stands out a pasta dish is always the sauce, everything we have tasted was perfect, from the basic marinara sauce to the meat sauces. The handmade pastas were definitely one of the best we have tried, the texture, consistency and the perfect balance between soft and chew...yummmm. I feel bad for the non-gluten eaters, and people who think the food here is over priced. When was the last time you had a perfect Gnocchi an inch in diameter and in length.
We are glad to have found this place after it opened in 2019, and seriously we will start coming here at least once a week and try everything on the menu. Thanks Bill!
