My friends and I had a fantastic time trying the Chef's Tasting Menu! The wine expert was very knowledgeable and let us sample wines before we bought them. The chef was also very accommodating of my friend's gluten allergy. Expensive and long (3+ hours), but that's part of the experience! Worth trying, if you can!
I have a gluten allergy and specified that very clearly when I ordered. I double checked with the waiter because I could tell he wasn’t paying attention and was making errors with other orders at my table. He assured me it was gluten free and I still got incredibly sick from the food :(
Tried to go on a Sunday at 6pm. They state online they are open until 7pm. Had been looking forward to it since we had heard they have gluten free batter. Got there and they were closed. Very disappointing.
I really like CAVA and was glad to find one while traveling. I am glad I double checked their GF items online before ordering. I thought their falafels were GF - but they are not. Maybe I’m thinking of another place where they are gluten free. The staff was friendly but not knowledgeable. Had a basic grain bowl with chicken - hummus - and veggies.
Hamburger and chicken sandwich place with gluten free options.
They even place the gluten free items on a separate tray if you tell them it's allergy related.

This was my third time at O-Ku and they did not disappoint. Our waitress was so nice and helpful with our gluten free diet. She made sure to check with the kitchen several times on items.
My friend and I ordered cocktails and special sushi rolls that had Happy Hour prices (5-7pm!), along with the chicken karaage which is my FAVORITE. Seriously, I would order that item ten times over. Their ubi brownie for dessert was great, too, though I wish it was bigger tbh. They have gluten free items and separate menu which is perfect.
⚠️gluten free EAT OR ORDER WITH CAUTION⚠️So , you’ll WERE my go to place on doordash I even came in to dine with my ex once. I ordered thru uber yesterday the meat wasn’t as tender. Lentils were firm and not cooked thru and potato’s didn’t have the flavor I’ve always loved.
THE BIGGEST ISSUE IS ⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️
I found out y’all mfs never gave me gluten free injera any other time I’ve ordered I got hospitalized 2 years ago and around that time was eating yall heavy . On door dash yall lazy mfs made no option so I always put it in the special instructions. On uber last night I put it in the instructions and decided to buy extra. That’s when I noticed the gluten free injera from yall is a coffee brown. Cause my food was wrapped in regular injera even after leaving a note . DO YOU UNDERSTAND YALL COULDVE KILLED ME. IF IN THE SPECIAL instructions they say gluten free injera and you don’t wanna take a loss or get sued HOW ABOUT FIXING YOUR ONLINE MENU MESS. I only review places I have an issue with and this is a serious one . I’m unfortunately going to have to make some phone calls cause I can’t imagine I’m the only one going thru this and this is insane. Y’all have been giving me my allergy everytime I’ve ordered shame on y’all.
The vibe was so warm and friendly, and the food absolutely delicious. I wasn’t very hungry and I avoid gluten which is usually a chore to navigate at restaurants. But the restaurant owner recommended the Samosa Chana Chaat which was DIVINE. Perfect flavors, portions, This spot is nowhere close to home but I’m already plotting my return.
Starting with the fact that I’m a gluten free person and while I been at several uncountable number of pizza places in the United States, this is still the best gluten free pizza I ever tried in more than a decade, and all and every single staff member are amazing.
I had a great gluten free experience here. The server was knowledgeable and explained the entire allergy-friendly process from order to delivery. They made menu modifications and a manager delivered my meal with additional assurance that it was cross contamination free. Highly recommended for those that are celiac or gluten sensitive.
I have celiac and I was told they have a gluten free fryer. Tater tots are gluten free so we got the loaded tots and they also have soft gluten free buns for the burger and sandwiches. They are very accommodating with celiac. Also their cocktails are delish.
So good! Top restaurant in dc for me. Love the flavor combinations . Usually fusion isn’t my favorite but it’s so well done here. Pakistani and North Indian food is what i grew up on and these flavors hit so well. So many gluten free options, knowledgeable staff on allergies. Loved everything we tried and can’t wait to come back and try more on the menu. Shout out to Dawn for such great service and being so knowledgeable!
This place is absolutely delicious! It's inside a food hall that is cute and has a quiet vibe, at least during the weekday. Almost everything on the menu is gluten free too! Love it! Wish I lived closer so I could eat here more often.
Delicious food with gluten free options! Service was great! We waited a bit too long for the check, but everyone was so nice! Will definitely come back again!
I absolutely love the vibe of this spot. It’s super casual. You order off a QR code and then order at the bar for drinks. You can tell it’s a real locals spot. We got the butter chicken and chicken tikka and added “celiac-gluten allergy” when ordering and didn’t have a problem. Best Indian food I’ve personally ever had.
Do not waste your time walking 16 minutes from the station to go to this place because you saw a great review on Google. First of all they don’t open their kitchen till 4pm and secondly, if before 4 you cannot even get a gluten free sandwich. Wont see me again.
Maybe the ultimate romantic restaurant in DC? What a delight of an establishment - cozy, intimate, incredibly chic and exceeded our expectations in every way.
The menu is robust and can be modified well to meet any dietary requirements - my wife, who is gluten and dairy free, had no problem putting together an incredible meal. The calamari is one of the best I've had in DC, and we both enjoyed steak frittes and the beef bourguignon as the main course - would highly recommend both.
The atmosphere is like none other - the alcoves that allow intimate dining for two are a must to enjoy conversation while still taking in the Parisian chic of the decorations, lighting and other touches that make you a Francophile for the evening. The service was warm, friendly and knew the menu very well to help with the dietary recommendations referenced above.
Simply put - if you are looking for a very unique, romantic and quality dining experience, you will not regret Bistro Cacao.
I love this place! The food options are so creative and I love that everything is healthy. They offer lots of gluten free options and I love their giant chocolate/peanut butter cups. I also love the ambiance! Their patio is so cute and heated/enclosed in the winter so you can enjoy it year round. The manager and staff at the location near Union Market are very helpful and friendly as well. My new favorite spot!
Excellent food. Something for everyone (fish, steak, pasta, gluten-free, vegan). All of our meals looked, smelled and tasted amazing, simply delicious (try the cassoulet). Staffed by sincerely friendly and knowledgeable servers and bartenders (probably the best Manhattan I have had in my life). We dined in the evening and the candlelit ambience was warm and welcoming. Whether you are dressed up or dressed casual, you won't feel out of place. I look forward to returning and recommend this to locals and anyone visiting this part of DC.
It was clean inside and the service was fantastic! We wanted something quick and tasty and the subs were delicious! I didn't know they had gluten-free bread now! I'll be back!
The food was amazing at the beginning of the meal but by the end felt more pedestrian. Similarly, the service dropped off as the restaurant got busier.
Here's the real rub: my wife has celiac, which we communicated to the restaurant with our reservation. We were told there would be no problem accommodating her. At the beginning of the meal, we felt *very* comfortable with the care the staff was taking--everyone who came to the table identified the gluten-free dishes, which were uniformly excellent through the first three courses of the five-course menu.
But when our mains came out, hers (1) was not the thing she ordered, and (2) came with a crumpet. We weren't immediately suspicious about that latter point--the gluten-free bread options thus far had been excellent. But another server passing our table spotted the crumpet and told us that it had gluten, fortunately before my wife took a bite.
My wife initially meant to just eat the rest of the dish even though it was the wrong one--but then got concerned about whether she might just have been given someone else's order.
We had to flag down yet another server to ask for an explanation for why her main was something different from what she ordered. Finally, the sommelier came over with an explanation of sorts--apparently the main she ordered could not be made without gluten, and so the dish with a big lump of wheat bread was purportedly the gluten-free alternative. No one had told us ahead of time that her original order couldn't be satisfied, and so we were left a bit confused and a bit more concerned.
All in all, these were hiccups we would be able to overlook at a restaurant charging a quarter of the price, but this was frankly a deeply disappointing experience at a Michelin-starred restaurant (and at this price point).
We were seeking gluten free wings and struck gold! The owner was great. He offered to make them without flour. The old bay wings were delicious. Can’t wait to try more of their food.
They always have really nice people working, always get our order right and help to keep things moving pretty quickly. They’re gluten-free options for breakfast are great, because I also like to get it without me so the breakfast bowl with eggs and hashbrowns is amazing. My partner loves the regular breakfast wrap for non-gluten free folks.
Truly Phenomenal! One of the best meals I've ever had in DC! The atmosphere and vibes are perfect. I love to bring out-of-towner friends here when they visit. Even my foodie friends are blown away. They do a good job of accommodating gluten and dairy free restrictions as well.
Update 6/28: Still love this place! Can’t go wrong with the gluten free and vegetarian pad Thai with tofu or the gluten free chicken pineapple fried rice. Love the steamed veggies too!
We absolutely love their food! We always get carry out since we live so close, but their food is great! We always get the tofu with pad Thai, since it’s an amazing gluten free and vegetarian option, and the pineapple fried rice with chicken for my partner. He especially loves the cashews in it and it’s why Salads Thai has his favorite pineapple fried rice! We have not tried much else since we just love these both so much, other than the mixed veggies that are also really great as a gluten free(I always get veggies without sauces just to be safe) and vegetarian option. We look forward to the two or three times a month we order!!
Solid Mediterranean bowls, salads, and pitas topped with a variety of fresh ingredients and perfect for a relatively tasty, quick, and affordable meal. The concept is pretty similar to CAVA -- you can either build your own by choosing a base, main, and toppings, or you can pick from one of their chef-curated options. I usually opt to build my own with their salmon fillet or roasted butternut squash over kale, and topped with all the veggies and hummus. All of their veggies are super fresh, and their sauces all pack a ton of flavor (watch out for the spicy ones -- they actually are quite spicy). Their salmon fillets tend to be very small and a touch dry, as I assume they've been sitting under the heat lamp for a while, but they still pack a good flavor.
Although the food is solid, it's generally not my first choice for fast-casual Mediterranean fare, as (1) they're not always aware of which allergens are in their food, and (2) despite being a fast-casual spot, service can often be quite delayed.
Starting with the first -- the staff is wonderful at handling dietary restrictions; they'll put on new gloves, make sure your order is on a clean service (i.e., new foil or bowl), and avoid working on other orders at the same time as yours. However, I'm worried they haven't been told what all the allergens are in all of their ingredients. For example, I've received their gluten-free falafel pita box at several catered office lunches, and, unfortunately, ended up feeling pretty sick afterwards. Although I appreciate that they have a gluten-free pita (although it does taste pretty dismal) and that they have gluten-free options for desserts and sides, I don't believe their falafel is gluten-free (or maybe it's something in the rice or one of the toppings...I'm not entirely sure what it is or if there's just some cross-contamination, but something in those boxes definitely isn't sitting right with me).
Beyond dietary restrictions, the only other drawback to Roti is that it's not always as speedy as advertised, which is not at all the fault of the employees. Every time I go in, there are usually only 1-2 people working the entire restaurant, fielding a slew of both in-person and mobile orders. This naturally creates a delay in getting out all orders; for example, I'll sometimes wait upwards of 30+ min. for a line of five or so in-person customers because the staff is so swamped with mobile orders. On the flip side, if you get a mobile order, definitely go to pick it up instead of using their delivery service (which includes third-party apps like UberEats, as Roti opts to use their own drivers for those services). I usually have to wait over 45 min. for a delivery order, despite the quoted wait time of 15 min. and that my apartment is less than 2 miles away from the restaurant.
All in all, I think Roti is a solid place for fresh, flavor-packed Mediterranean bowls, salads, and pitas. However, I would recommend caution if you have dietary restrictions or if you're in a huge rush.
What an excellent new place to try out in DC. I had heard a lot about the Minetta in NYC and it definitely lived up to its reputation.
Amazing ambiance and our server was extremely kind and helpful especially with our dietary restrictions.
They gave me a deconstructed burger without the bun since I’m gluten free although there are a couple of other gluten free options as well.
We also got the bone marrow and truly what a delicacy.
Great place for dinner!
Saw it on Uber eats, I don't know if it's new. Amazing food!!!!! And I don't have to worry about gluten, which is actually crazy for a restaurant that uses soy sauce. As someone with a million dietary restrictions, I think this place is going to make my life a little easier.
The best kept secret deli in all of DC, the bread is out of this world apparently. My partner ordered an eggplant Parm sando and it was 10/10. They also have an assortment of grocery items including some gluten free things. This is a classic Italian deli experience tucked away in a little shop in North East DC, so unexpectedly perfect!
