I ordered from JP Pastry’s as a gift for my aunt who’s gluten-free, and she absolutely loved every single treat! It can be tough to find gluten-free baked goods that actually taste good, but she couldn’t stop raving about how delicious everything was—especially the cinnamon rolls.
The ordering process was super easy and convenient. I also noticed how many people mention the kind, thoughtful service—and I experienced that firsthand. The team really seems to care, and that makes a big difference.
Bonus points for being a dog-friendly bakery! I’ll definitely be ordering again—whether for my aunt or myself!
Holy smokes, Batman!
As someone who often struggles to find great food options (especially gluten-free), Irregardless blew me away.
Our waitress—whose name I regretfully forgot, and it’s not on my receipt—was phenomenal. I told her I was torn between a few choices, and she confidently recommended the Hot Fried Chicken Sandwich (GF). Honestly? One of the best sandwiches I’ve had in over 12 years. Crispy, flavorful, and totally worth the hype.
🌱 They accommodate a ton of dietary restrictions.
🍽️ Portion sizes? Generous.
🌿 Food? Incredibly fresh and delicious.
🏡 Location? Adorable.
🚗 Parking? A bit tricky, but it’s the only “meh” part.
🪑 Inside? Cozy, charming, and quiet enough to actually enjoy a conversation.
If you’re in Raleigh and want something amazing, run—don’t walk—to Irregardless.
If you are GF, this is the place; everything is gluten-free. We happened upon the summer menu filled with fresh ingredients. Highly recommend the cheddar biscuits, the beet appetizer, the braised short ribs, finished with the chocolate torte. Unique selection of cocktails, and the wine menu is extensive. My glass of Malbec was very good. Service was attentive, personable, yet not always in your space. Highly recommend!
Plant Cakes Bake Shop is a wonderful place for Gluten-free and Vegan treat options. Food is made in-house. Overall a nice little shop and friendly people!
So I have autoimmune disease called Celiac Disease and that means gluten and me do not get along at all. This place has great gluten free reviews and was super excited coming here. Well now I am about ready to lose my mind. I asked my usual questions concerning gluten free items and preparations for their food/drinks. I ordered a CIDER and got served a BEER without hesitation. This is actually absurd. When somebody asks you about gluten free items and safety precautions and then immediately within 2 minutes get served a gluten containing item, it’s just actually ridiculous. The server was apologetic and kind but not knowing the difference between beer and cider is disheartening.
My husband and I chose Strada for our wedding rehearsal dinner catering. Our wedding was originally the weekend of Hurricane Helene, but even amidst the chaos, the Strada catering team got in contact with us to communicate that their kitchen was down, and issued a prompt refund.
When we rescheduled our wedding for June 2025, we reached out to see if they would be able to provide catering- this time, my husband was on a strict dairy, soy, gluten and egg free elimination diet. The Strada team worked with us to ensure he had a meal he could safely eat, and also worked to accommodate the vegetarians in our wedding party and my celiac disease. They clearly labeled every allergen, which made everything much easier when we served the catering at our venue- and the food was delicious.
We were Strada fans before, but now we’re Strada stans! Highly recommend them for your catered event.
Food was good. We got their beignets and some breakfast stacker crepes. My Celiac wife forgot to tell them that she was gluten free so they had to remake the dish for her. They were very nice about it. Only reason for lack of star was server wasn’t very attentive and forgot silverware

My husband and I frequent Old Europe for their delicious cakes and coffee, so when it came time to pick a vendor for our wedding desserts, it was an easy choice! Abby helped us choose a variety of small cake flavors, and made sure each one was gluten free (I have celiac disease). She also walked us through customizing a larger cake for the two of us. Everything turned out beautiful, and our guests raved about how pretty and delicious our desserts were.
Also of note- our original wedding was the day after Hurricane Helene. Old Europe made it super easy to reschedule for our new date!
Ferawyns has an outstanding selection of gluten-free pastries, baked goods, and chocolates—truly some of the best I’ve found. Every item I’ve tried is a winner, and the quality is consistently top-notch.
That said, it’s hard to overlook the atmosphere created by the owner. I’ve been a loyal customer for some time now, and unfortunately, I’ve witnessed repeated moments where the staff are spoken to harshly and with open condescension, even in front of customers. The kitchen may not be soundproof, but you wouldn’t know it based on how freely negative comments are made—about both staff and patrons.
In one instance, I asked if a particular item was still available because I loved it and hoped to bring some home for my family. The staff member kindly checked, only to be met with a biting, “Of course they are asking that,” from the kitchen. The attitude was unmistakable—and unprovoked, only to be topped off with her coming out of the kitchen to glare at me and then go back.
It saddens me to see how the warmth of the front-of-house staff has shifted over time. Once cheerful and engaging, they now seem anxious and on edge. I can’t help but think how much stronger this business could be if the internal environment matched the joy and care poured into the food.
I want to keep supporting Ferawyns because the products truly shine. But I’d feel far better doing so if I knew the people behind the counter were being treated with the same respect and dignity their work deserves—and that Joana viewed customers as supporters rather than wallets that shouldn't speak.
Bida Manda is amazing. I go there regularly and it’s always a good experience. They have a lot of gluten free options and the menu is well marked for gluten.
Love the gluten free options! The specialty lattes are on point. Customer service was great and the ambiance was both comfortable and eclectic. The library is a delight. There are places to work, converse, read and listen to music. Highly recommend!
Their head chef is actually celiac, so very knowledgeable! The food is delicious and the atmosphere here is unmatched. As long as you share your allergies, they are very accommodating and knowledgeable in how to keep you safe!
I have been lots of time and the Armored Cow is a great place to grab a cold beer. They have a wide variety of different beers including sours and gluten free beers. And there is always some new flavor to try. Friendly staff and plenty of seating. There is a good food truck there as well.
Gluten free by the sea made the most delicious and beautiful birthday cake for my daughter in law who is gluten intolerant. It scored beautifully for her birthday party! Thank you!
Though a little worn (and obviously well patronized), and the outside comes in.... this is a really well designed menu, fabulous staff, and the cheesecake is above the expected.
I love how much is gluten free, and no questions asked about the allergy, and that the menu reflects a variety of tastebuds of well researched foodies. These are definitely not the digs of your average pub in a small town. They know their food.
I recently brought a group of ladies there, and there was something for everyone.
*The Greek Burger needs more sauce, but that's just me. I love Tzatziki sauce. And the Sweet Potato fries are also good with Tzatziki sauce.
Thanks to the staff for quick service and accurate drinks (Unsweet tea is a huge deal for those of us with that taste bud).
lots of love to Dooley's!
This place is AMAZING!!! You have no idea how nice it is for someone with gluten and dairy issues to be able to walk into a place and be able to order absolutely anything! Even their waffle cone is gluten free and it’s incredible! This is my go to place for ice cream and there isn’t even a close second. Let’s not bring up Je**i’s overpriced slop 🤣. And now that they are close to being open in Dilworth, I know exactly where I’ll be!
Amazing savory and sweet crepes, and best of all for me, all are available in gluten free. We discovered this restaurant when we visited UNCW with our son, and now that he is a student there, we make sure to visit Our Crepes & More whenever we’re in town. My favorites are the Monte-Cristo savory and the Mont-Blanc sweet, but really, we’ve enjoyed everything we’ve tried.
I’m a vegetarian, and the main menu has almost no meat-free dishes—but Winston’s actually is vegetarian friendly as long as you say something to the waiter. They have a complete alternative menu available: the front lists vegetarian and vegan dishes, and the back has gluten-free dishes. I can’t speak to the gluten-free options, but the vegan and vegetarian choices are excellent!
Really nice outdoor seating space, and the crab cake sandwich I had was fantastic. What I appreciated most is when I had questions about ingredients in some of the dishes, the cook came out and talked to me and made sure I ordered something completely gluten free. We'll be back there again next year!
I never review restaurants but I cannot say enough good things about this place. My girlfriend and I are gluten free and it is often difficult to find a full spectrum menu of things we can eat—however, even if you aren’t gluten free—this place is incredible. From the atmosphere, to the view, to the service; even down to how the dishes are plated…everything is immaculate. The Duck Confit…I would highly recommend. Their deconstructed tiramisu for desert—amazing. Even their coffee there we got with desert…best restaurant coffee I’ve had, period. You have to check this place out. Well worth your time and money.
This place is one of my favorite spots for burgers but with a Spanish twist to it. Has a good variety of burgers and their sides of either fries with truffles, sweet potatoes, and the Mac and cheese. You can’t go wrong with those!! This place also has gluten free bread option that comes in a separate package for you to assemble, very well made and done. Delicious and Gluten free!!!

New favorite spot! A family member has celiac and we are able to eat here safely - gluten free and safe from cross contamination! Aside from that, the food is absolutely incredible. Unassuming exterior but the vibe inside is great. Service was also top notch.
The food was top shelf and the menu for celiacs was identical to the main menu and cooked separately. Fine dining on every level as well as being family friendly. I highly recommend this place. The service was fantastic.
My husband and I had a lovely date night tonight at Glasshalfull! We’ve been here before with friends and enjoyed it, but since we live in Durham, it’s not a restaurant that comes to mind as often. I was looking for a place to have dinner for a little celebration and saw that they had an extensive gluten-free dessert selection :)
So we came tonight and plan to definitely keep this on our list of places to go! From the delicious, delicate salads, to the gluten-free crisps (yum!!) that came with the cheese appetizer to the entrees, to the gluten-free desserts, to the wonderful server (India), it was such a great night. I have to say that it was the best brownie that I’ve had in quite a while (GF and otherwise). It was baked in its own ramekin so there were “edges” all the way around and on the bottom - if you are someone who loves the edge pieces of brownies, this is the one for you!
Yes, the prices are a little higher, but that’s because they pay a working wage for their staff and so tipping is optional. The tables are nicely spaced so that you’re not right up against others. It was a cool night tonight, so we sat inside, but it looks like they have nice outdoor seating, so I hope we can come sometime and enjoy that :)
We came here twice on an extended weekend and got to try the house made gluten free options: quiche, bagels, and a very yummy raspberry oat bar. All were delish! My wife had the same but traditional (not gluten free) and she enjoyed it. Pam is the owner and was very friendly. Highly recommended!
Burger 21 offers a diverse menu with options for various dietary needs, including vegan, gluten-free. The prices were reasonable, considering the food and service quality.
Overall, the dining experience at Burger 21 was exceptional. The welcoming atmosphere, service, and expertly crafted dishes made for an unforgettable evening. Burger 21 is highly recommended for anyone looking for a culinary adventure. Planning a return visit to explore more menu options is already underway.
They have a variety of options that are extremely safe for those that have celiac disease. A majority of items are already gluten free or can be made gluten free! The fryers are 100% gluten free along with a spare pizza oven. Any of the pizzas can be made gluten free. It is prepared on cauliflower crust! All pastas can be made gluten free and are prepared in separate boiler to maintain no cross-contamination. I was there for a girls night, so we just ordered small dishes to share. I’d love to try the pasta and pizza. The restaurant in itself is extremely nice.
I am madly in love with this establishment.
I talk nonstop about this place, having vegan and gluten free options that are very delicious. Dobra is such a traditionally raw beauty. :) I can't wait to make all my Asheville journeys mainly for you guys!

This bakery was such a gem to find! The inside is super cute, and they offer a nice variety of products—including some vegan, gluten-free, and nut-free options. Usually, they have about 1 to 3 flavors available that meet those needs, but they can sell out quickly, so I recommend ordering ahead or stopping by earlier in the day.
My favorite is their vegan, gluten-free strawberry cupcake—it tastes like there's real jam mixed into the frosting. You can really taste the strawberry throughout, and it's just the right balance of sweetness.
That said, one thing to note: they store the gluten-free cupcakes on the top shelf of the display with non-gluten-free items, which could be an issue for people with celiac disease or serious cross-contamination concerns. Also, there have been a couple of times when the cupcake quality wasn't consistent, which was disappointing—but most of the time, they taste great.
The frosting is on the sweeter side and very generously applied. If you're not big on sweet frosting, I actually recommend saving some to spread on other baked goods (I do that!) or sandwiching the cupcake by cutting it in half.
I've also had coffee from here, and I've never had a bad reaction to any of their drinks or baked goods. Just a heads-up: there's limited street parking nearby, and it's paid—so plan ahead if you're driving.
Overall, a lovely spot worth checking out—with just a few things to keep in mind if you have dietary restrictions.

Finding this bakery was a gem! The interior is gorgeous, and they offer a wide variety of products, including vegan, gluten-free, and nut-free options. They usually have one to three flavors available that cater to those needs, but they sell out quickly, so I recommend ordering in advance or stopping by early.
My favorite is their vegan and gluten-free strawberry cupcake—it tastes like it has real jam mixed into the frosting. You can taste the strawberry flavor throughout the cupcake, and it has the perfect balance of sweetness.
That said, one thing to note: they store the gluten-free cupcakes on the top shelf of the display case alongside the gluten-free ones, which could be an issue for people with celiac disease or serious cross-contamination issues. Also, there have been a couple of occasions where the quality of the cupcakes has been inconsistent, which was disappointing, but most of the time, they are delicious.
The frosting is quite sweet and applied very well. If you're not a big fan of sweet frosting, I recommend saving some to spread on other cakes (I do!) or cutting the cupcake in half.
I've also gotten coffee from here and have never had a negative reaction to any of their drinks or pastries. A warning: street parking nearby is limited and paid, so plan ahead if you're driving.
In short, a lovely place worth visiting, with a few things to keep in mind if you have dietary restrictions.

Had a wonderful brunch at Chestnut! The pimento cheese tater tots were amazing! I can’t wait to go back for dinner and try the fried green tomatoes! All gluten-free items are noted on the menu. The servers are very helpful if you have any questions!
We greatly enjoyed High Test Deli while on our vacation! It was recommended to us by our hiking guide and he was spot on. They had good gluten-free options with special precautions for those with celiac disease. Their menu had a wide variety of sandwich styles and some really cool ice cream sandwiches. Make sure you visit!
