My partner and I always go t OK Samuel Pepys wenever we visit Launceston, as we know the whole menu (which is very extensive) she is able to have (Lactose and Gluten Free). Food, service and atmosphere is always top notch. Can't recommend highly enough. Especially for people who have the battle of finding places that cater for allergies.
A must-visit for all coeliacs, the waffles were delicious! Tastes even better knowing that it's safe for those with gluten allergies. The staff are lovely, and made our visit all the more sweeter.
I usually have a great experience at Rupert and hound however tonight was appalling.
We had friends visit from interstate so we took them to one of our favourite restaurants here . Being coeliac also a great option for dinner as well.
Friends have a 4 year old boy and we have a 3 year old boy, made this clear on the booking. Our waiter was fantastic. No issues. After the boys finished their dinner and we had just been served our mains they were a bit difficult , wanting to get down from the chair , trying to play with their toy cars on the floor , and we were all attempting to control the situation however as anyone with kids will know it can take a few minutes to figure out what is going to work tonight to get them to settle which we were working on. Got the kids settled, my son was on the lap of my wife with the phone volume turned down watching some videos , and the 4 year old was on the floor by the chair , plenty of room around playing quietly with his cars, could not hear them over the general noise at the restaurant at this point.
The issue as follows, table behind us had a young couple, unsure if they were reviewing the restaurant or something as they had a decent sized camera taking photos of food etc , they were sitting at a table for two against the window near the water. Their waiter came to them and informed them he had organised a new table for them in another area, not to worry it was still by a window and near the water if they would like to be shown to their new table. The couple was visibly confused, they asked why they needed to move and the waiter confirmed ‘if you’re going to enjoy your dinner you’d want to do that somewhere that isn’t so loud and distracting because of where you are sitting ‘ again couple confused asked what he meant, and he confirmed that ‘obviously the family behind is being quite loud and the children were misbehaving’ , they said it wasn’t an issue and were happy with their seating, the waiter confirmed ‘when it becomes a problem just let me know and I’ll sort you out okay’. The whole conversation was riddled with tone from the waiter. The kids at this point at mentioned were not making any noise.
Firstly totally killed the atmosphere in the section immediately. Secondly if you have an issue with the kids let us know, we were attempting to get them under control earlier and there is no issue in popping over if the kids are being disruptive and say ‘hey are we doing okay over here, noticed things seem to be getting a did you want to order some dessert for the boys etc’
Finally the couple clearly didn’t have an issue with what the waiter considered loud and disruptive and by the time he had offered to move them which they didn’t request the kids were fine.
Our guests were quite upset and while we went to pay the mother of the 4 year old took him out the front , and needless to say left in tears.
I won’t be going here again after this.
GLUTEN FREE - OMG.
You know what, you can make your own atmosphere but whose got the inclination when all want to do is sink your teeth into the delicious burger served to your table.
We will be getting another "Burger" fix for our "Soul"before leaving Tassie.
Still as good 3 years since our last visit from SA.
Great food and service! Very much enjoyed my Gf burger and very much appreciate being catered to (coeliac). Delicious fries!!
Only minor suggestion would be more comfortable seating. The tables were very low as were chairs.
Fantastic service and food, our server's recommendations resulted in one of the best dinner experiences we had in Launceston. The care when accommodating coeliac/gluten allergies makes this place a must-visit.
We had the best morning coffee at Earthy Eats cafe and then stayed on for lunch while on holidays in Launceston. An absolutely fabulous Cafe, with so much attention to healthy, natural ingredients with a delicious selection of vegan, vegetarian, gluten free and low carb choices. Being diabetic it was great to have lo carb options. We headed back on the ferry to Geelong later that day. Next visit we'll be going back for coffee and lunch!
We love coming to Levee on our annual holiday to Launceston. In fact it’s so good, we often try and visit twice. The staff are attentive and the food is delicious. The gluten free pizza is the best we have ever had. The calamari is also superb. Yummy!
Charlie’s Dessert House in Launceston is a delightful haven for dessert lovers. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by an array of tantalizing treats that promise to satisfy any sweet tooth. The variety of desserts is truly impressive, catering to all preferences with a perfect blend of classic and innovative flavors.
I had the pleasure of trying their sticky date and Biscoff flavors, and I must say, they were divine. The sticky date dessert was a warm, comforting embrace of sweet and gooey goodness, while the Biscoff brought a delightful crunch and a unique, caramelized flavor that was simply unforgettable.
The ambiance of Charlie’s is cozy and inviting, making it an ideal spot for an after-dinner treat or a sweet midday escape. The staff are friendly and attentive, ensuring that every visit is a pleasant experience.
What sets Charlie’s apart is their commitment to quality and variety. Whether you’re in the mood for something rich and chocolatey, fruity and fresh, or warm and spicy, they have it all. And for those with dietary restrictions, they offer a range of gluten-free and vegan options, so no one misses out on the joy of a delicious dessert.
In summary, Charlie’s Dessert House is a must-visit for anyone in Launceston. Their sticky date and Biscoff desserts are a testament to their excellence. It’s a place where every bite is a celebration of flavor, and every visit leaves you planning the next. A true gem in the heart of the city.
In the end , hot chocolate was great as well.
We absolutely LOVED our dinner here- the flavors of our dishes were delightful and fragrant. Perfect winter weather food and served by very kind people. Highly recommend visiting - we enjoyed the Lamb Saag and Chana Masala dishes (safe for those with gluten and/or dairy allergy concerns).
Sandra was very accommodating to one of our group who is gluten free, she went out of her way to supply her with some nibbles. The atmosphere was elegant, all 6 of us thoroughly enjoyed our day, we will definitely return.
LOVE CUCCINA! My fav place to eat. They cater well for gluten free (unsure about coeliac)! Huge portion sizes and delicious food. Waitstaff always friendly and efficient! ❤
Brilliant Dining Experience. Lots of Gluten Free options. They were able to facilitate almost all the dishes on the menu as Gluten Free. Delicious gluten free bread. Service was excellent.
I am a Coeliac, not gluten free because I choose to be. I have been into this store 3 times in the last 3 months and on every occasion I have mentioned to the staff behind the counter about the GF salads being on the bottom of the showcase below all "normal" foods and the cross contamination aspects. On this occasion ,one of the staff members who i complained too said she had spoken to one of the chefs previously, and still nothing has been done. Maybe the chefs should have Coeliacs disease and then know just how unwell you can be, vomiting, diarrhoea, pains in your stomach, fever, sweats all at once, its not very nice I assure you when you eat gluten.. While I was waiting for my GF meal to be heated, I observed a young girl with gloves on touching normal food , touching her face then touching the baking paper which she lifted the lid then put the paper on top of my meal. Please give your staff some education on handling and storage of Gluten Free food. Your food is amazing but I want eat anything that isn't covered. What happens in the preparation of your food that we don't see?
What a beautiful place to have a catch up with my dear friend. Such delicious cakes and proper tea in a pot. Staff were so friendly and helpful. So many gluten free options too. 😋 Highly recommended!!
Perfect dining experience. Once seated our waitress instantly asked if we had any dietary concerns. I am Celiac but also dairy and soy intolerant. She did not even bat an eyelid and straight away let me know what o can have BUT also checked with the chef who did slightly vary an entree for me. The food was outstanding g and for once I felt like I had no real limits on what I could have. The staff weren’t over and above in their service. I think our waitress was Holly if I am wrong I apologise. OUTSTANDING
This was our 1st visit. Omg absolutely amazing. So I had to come back to launnie to stay for another hospital appointment so again had to leave my 5 beautiful children behind as I am getting staples removed out of my head after a growth being removed 2 weeks ago...
Coming to this restaurant, absolutely was amazing. There extremely coeliac friendly and very kind and polite. All staff work very well together.i wish I had of had enough money to tip our waitress. Because of privacy I won't physically name her but I will remember her. Even after I said why we were here and having a meal my dessert came out so beautifully to congratulate me on getting my staples out. It was really lovely of them to do that it made me happy emotional. Thank you so much . And food omg definitely get what you pay for and so yummy.thank you again and dessert was so pretty and delicious.
A lot of drink options as well. Service on point.
I got a burrito take away - I got it gluten free and the staff were so helpful, and the service was so lovely. I haven't had a burrito in so long because nowhere has offered a gluten free option, my only regret is that I'm only visiting Launceston and not living here - I'd be a regular! The burrito came with rice and a salad - the meal was huge, good value and excellent tasting. Highly recommend 👌
Helpful tip to others - there was also no coriander!
Edit: 33 minutes for brunch is definitely not standard but if we are doing minute crunching then yes it wasn’t 45 minutes. Maybe let people know beforehand because this is definitely not industry standards time.
Don’t come here if you are in a rush - waited at least 45 minutes for the BLAT (sandwich) and the Turkish eggs after placing the order. Anywhere else in Australia you would have customers walking out the door for a brunch meal. Their reasoning was there was a gluten free order which required cleaning. I’m not sure why they don’t have a separate set of utensils, or acknowledge that they don’t have the capacity to cater for it without destroying their flow.
Table next to us had a shakshuka that was forgotten and they looked like they waited 40+ minutes as well.
Food wasn’t spectacular, acceptable food and average coffee. Very disappointing experience particularly with a Sunday surcharge slapped on top. Unsure what the hype is about.
Beautiful Thai food - the whole family (ranging from 5 to 85 years) loved it. Looking forward to coming back next time we are in Tasmania. 😊❤️💕🫶
(They also made everything gluten free for me)

Exceptionally fresh, flavours with just the right amount of chilli. Great to see supporting Tassie winemakers and brewers. Gluten free and vegetarian friendly. Just so good, do yourself a favour 😉
Delicious, freshly and quickly prepared meal, of which I enjoyed a main of Cantonese Beef $19.00, currently offering takeaway meals only. HUGE RANGE of available dishes, with over 150 to choose from. Gluten free menu with a large variety of items also available. Wonderful customer service, only small negative was I expected and would have loved to have received a plastic fork and napkin to eat my meal with in the park (thankfully I had 1 in the car)
The Pantry is great. I've been here many times and the food never disappoints. Some people say the building is haunted but seriously doubt it; I'm always on the lookout for ghosts but I've never seen one there. If you're gluten free I highly recommend their gluten free toasties. Ok goodnight, thanks for reading.
We were keen to try this place as we have dined at Kosaten in Geelong where we had some of the best sushi we've ever had. Sadly this was a huge disappointment. My partner ordered a chicken teriyaki, it didn't come out so we had to call the waiter. When it came it looked nothing like the photo. A tiny bowl of chicken that cost $16! Called the waitress again to double check we had received the right dish. Had to request table water to be brought out. A few nice gluten free dishes but no offer of gluten free soy sauce. The mixed sashimi was a few tiny bite size pieces. I think it was around $17 - poor value. We walked away hungry and disappointed.
Let me preface by saying the front of house workers were lovely, however the wait was far too long. It took over an hour for our food to come from ordering, even the entree, soup and won tons took over an hour. I can understand it was busy but it seems from other reviews this is a common issue. I appreciated all the gluten free options, and my food was lovely, just wish it was a little quicker
I’ve had takeaway and delivery from here. It’s definitely one on my “go to” places to get food from.
Being a gluten free eater, the karaage chicken is flippin amazing because I usually can’t get it. The beef bowl (which you could have the chicken too) is also pretty damn good. My wife has had the bahn mi roll. She said it was fine, just not the Vietnamese/French bread roll you’d expect if you got a bahn mi in Melbourne. Don’t let this turn you off though. It’s awesome! 5 stars.
Had 3 Coeliac ppl in a group and the team was absolutely lovely. They tried their hardest to keep it contaminant free and did a great job. We all enjoyed ourselves and didn't get sick at all. Everyone was lovely. And the atmosphere was good. Gives of a very upper bogan country vibe. Absolutely loved it. With the car pics on the walls. And the cool Harley with the pink pig. I thought they had topped it. Until the Hogs breath mascot came out and said hi to my little brother. He absolutely loved it❤️❤️❤️ great night and great photos of my brother he loves to look on and talk about the pink pig😂😂👍
Absolutely delicious meals. Tasty and fresh. Very helpful with our gluten free and dairy free requirement and the service was excellent in this regard and nothing was too much trouble for our waiter. Definitely recommend! Just yum!
The veg wrap (roasted veg) was soooo good. Felt nurtured by the food. Best veg food I have had in Launceston. Service beautiful too. I will return. Gluten free option available.
Very nice cafe! We ordered the smashed avo + bacon egg roll (gluten-free bread) and everything was delicious. The staff was friendly and the cafe is conveniently located in Launceston CBD. Recommended!
Chef prepared a gluten-free/vegan meal and dessert for my wife and I. The flavours and ingredients were amazing. The coffee is also excellent. The table service was friendly and professional. I highly recommend this restaurant.
