Is your nan gluten free? Because it was dreadful.
Better not go there hungry or you will starve until they finally serve you the food.
Too loud music, everyone needs to speak as if you’re inside a club… at noon and having lunch…
This was our second time at Mother Chu’s. It is strictly vegan and they have a variety of dishes that mimic meat. I enjoyed a steamed bun with a barbecued filling. I’ve never had a steamed bun before but it was delicious and filling. I had the wonton noodle soup which had 4 nice sized wontons and a tasty broth. Hubs and I shared the Mongolian style gluten dish. You get a lot of food. Not a lot of ambiance but always crowded as the food is that good. Our server is a very special woman who we met last year when our friend brought us there and she remembered us. It is definitely a place we will return to when we visit Sydney.
We usually stop here when checking out Vivid Sydney as they do gluten free savoury and sweet crepes... and serve alcohol. It's a great spot to begin checking out Vivid too with a short walk to Australia House.
Such a fun burger place. I was a little skeptical at first that they could prevent cross contact here but they have an open kitchen and I watched the whole process. They changed their gloves. Cleaned off the flat grill (although they don't put any buns on it anyway). The fries are also safe and cooked in a dedicated fryer.
The burger was amazing! The hamburger patty tasted like high quality meat. I had the gluten free bun and it was really good too. Definitely go if you want a burger.
My only complaint was the bathroom. Super stinky.
amazing place!! nearly every single item on the menu is gluten free and was reassured after telling them i had coeliac disease. everything we ordered tasted great, it is on the more expensive side but definitely worth it. we went for the truffle fries, broccolini, chips with guacamole, beef tacos, chicken tacos, and prawn tacos. the prawn and beef tacos were the stars of the meal!
We went during vivid and I am a celiac and I had the gluten free margherita with no reaction! The dough was amazing and their sunset passion fruit mocktail was amazing! I would highly suggest this place, my mom and stepdad also got salmon and the cut of the week and they also enjoyed it a lot, I didn’t even have time to take a photo of the food as I was too busy eating it, 10/10 all of the people were nice and I highly suggest
Great atmosphere and location, nestled in the heart of the Sydney botanic Gardens. We had the lunch tasting menu and it was quite nice. To be honest, we were given more drinks than an actual food but overall quite a pleasant experience. Majority of the lunch menu food was gluten-free. The staff were very accommodating and had great service.
CASA is located in a beautiful and charming spot, especially during Vivid — the ambiance is lovely, and the staff were very attentive and friendly. However, a few things during our visit left us disappointed.
Even with the heaters on, the place was still quite cold, which made our food cool down very quickly. The fries were overcooked, had a burnt taste, and were completely unseasoned — not even a pinch of salt.
I was told there was a gluten-free bruschetta option, but no one mentioned they would replace the bread with pizza dough. That really changed the texture and flavor, and unfortunately, it wasn’t very enjoyable.
The BBQ chicken pizza was another letdown. The BBQ sauce was extremely strong and tasted like a generic, store-bought version — overpowering everything else.
On a positive note, the pulled pork with potatoes was absolutely delicious — definitely the highlight of the meal.
I’ve been to CASA before and had a great pizza, so I know they can do better. I’m sharing this feedback hoping it helps improve the overall experience for future guests.
An otherwise nice experience ruined by one very rude staff member.
The food was alright, nothing we’d rave about.
A few points on the lower rating:
- We had initially booked for 22-23 people and had 3 extra show up last minute that were missed in our final headcount, we understand this could be inconvenient but we did have the space on the table allocated to fit them. Unfortunately, the waitress was quite snappy when she asked “Is there more people coming?! There’s no more space nor extra tables for anyone” before storming off. This was an initial experience that made us feel awkward. We understand the inconvenience but we also accept that if the extra attendees could no fit a reasonable solution would’ve been to explain that we only booked for 23 and that they should leave.
- The behaviour continued on from here: my colleague let her know she was the one who had ordered the gluten free taco and she snapped back at her in such a way that a quarter of the table pulled faces in shock.
- When we asked them for the cake. It was brought out unprepared in a box. Perhaps an over sight if they were busy but really unusual. But as it was this waitress that brought it out in a box and another server who offered to then take it back and serve it on a plate one can never be too sure.
- The music was loud. Like, SUPER loud. Which makes it understandable when the staff speak louder. But the waitress in question was super loud and at times to the point of yelling when snapping at us and pulling faces like she was very unhappy to be there or serving us. The other two servers were very lovely. So we’ve bumped the star rating up for them.
- Lastly, we also had issues when we were asked to leave. We were well aware we had a timed booking and honestly they did well to stick to time, it didn’t feel like we were being asked to leave too quickly after we finished eating but again the rude waitress was very short with us whereas the other waitress was more apologetic and said times up just letting you know you need to leave.
- Overall it was a profound experience. Sadly the food wasn’t redeeming enough to make it enjoyable.
Some suggestions if I may:
If your staff are having a bad time, assign them to a different table. Everyone’s going to be happier in the long run.
Turn the music down slightly. Music definitely brings vibes but if you’re all yelling at each other or having to ask people to repeat things enough times until you default to smiling and nodding - it’s definitely too loud.
If people have timed bookings, it is completely reasonable to say something like “just letting you all know you have 15 minutes left on your booking, we are a bit busy tonight so we’d really appreciate that you leave on time so we can prepare for the rest of our night” and to give timed reminders after that point.
Again if people aren’t moving at that time (happens so often with larger groups, trust me we know it) just again be firm but not rude with “sorry times up! We hope you had a good night but we will need to start preparing the table for our next guests”
To the waitress directly:
It’s best not to assume everyone is stupid and against you on a bad day. Some of us have also done our hard yards is hospitality too and know how it gets serving large tables. You’ll find that most people are sympathetic if you’re feeling a bit off but you’re in a customer facing role, please learn to take breaks if you need them.
The absolute best. We had breakfast here two days in a row and the service and food was impeccable. Also had gluten free options for our coeliac daughter. 👌👌
My wife took here for my birthday and it was amazing.
The atmosphere was fantastic, the staff were amazing and the food.....OMG it was sensational!
A great wine list too!
I am coeliac and they cater for almost everything on the menu, we can't wait to go back and try more of these delicacies again soon.
A huge shout out to all the staff, they were super attentive, friendly without being overbearing.
See you soon!
Pleasant place with excellent view.
Good pizza, fast, punctual, attentive service, I would say excellent.
Great attention to people with celiac disease, in particular we thank Jennifer, the excellent waitress!!
Pizza not safe for celiac despite the reviews on here as there is major cross contamination. Speak to staff as they are knowledgeable and were able to offer an alternative which was delicious !

Naim made our day! Good service, food and atmosphere. Probably mostly visited spot near Opera which is a good place to chill in the afternoon. Even during the hot sun hours customer service welcomes you within a smile.
(There’s gluten free options for pizzas)
Fabulous date night restaurant. The food was amazing paired with Spanish wine suggestions thanks to our brilliant waiter Juan - he even knew which options were safe for coeliacs
I wouldn’t have bothered with a review, but they sent an email. It was terrible! Firstly I stood in line for booked patrons and a waitress barged past me twice, one time pushing my back without saying excuse me.
Then I ordered wine and 20 mins later I had to chase it up.
Then we ordered food and it all came out cold and at different times. I ordered gluten free gyozas (gf friends don’t bother) and was served soy sauce - vs tamari.
People around me were chasing up orders, places to sit, drinks and food. Bearing in mind we order via an app. The app crashed several times, which made the whole thing frustrating.
Thursday night, darling harbour, big show at the ICC - maybe try harder.
Elegant fine dining with a delightful breakfast selection. The coffee and teas were exceptional, and the staff were warm and attentive. A standout for its generous gluten-free options and serene ambiance perfect for a refined start to the day.

Came specifically for the gluten free dumpling options. Both delicious and so nice to have gf options for steamed dumplings. Nice wine list and lovely staff. I came for lunch just as they were opening. Happily recommend here.
I had a lovely dining experience at Aria for my birthday. The staff were professional, polite, and incredibly friendly. They went the extra mile by surprising me with a sweet treat, complete with a candle, and ensured it was gluten-free to accommodate my dietary needs—a thoughtful touch that I truly appreciated.
The food had its highlights and a few minor letdowns. The crab had a strong vinegar taste that wasn’t quite to my liking, but the marron was stunning, with a delicious sauce that complemented it perfectly. The gluten-free bread and butter were fantastic. The duck, while flavorful, was a little tough to cut, and the lamb was enjoyable. The standout dish for me was the mashed potato—it was absolutely delicious.
The real showstopper, however, was the breathtaking view. Overlooking the Sydney Opera House and the harbour made for an unforgettable atmosphere.
Overall, it was a lovely experience, though I did have slightly higher expectations for the food.
We had the Moo ping, crispy fried pork and Doodee Chicken, all of which were exquisite. The service was very fast and the food was truly some of the best Thai food I have ever had. They even catered to celiac disease. I would HIGHLY recommend this place.
Good place they catered to my coeliac a little bit pricy for a breakfast bowl it could have a piece of bread with it but it is in the cbd . They have a great range of salads which are very reasonably priced and the coffee was good .
I came here the other night. Their menu had gf online however didn’t state that on the QR menu. I’m intolerant (not coeliac) so I clarified if those dishes were gluten free which they checked with the kitchen and replied yes, however, that night I was so sick and bloated due to their being a significant amount of gluten in something. I understand cross contamination and the risk but i have never been that sick from something stated gluten free. I won’t be returning as I’m too scared to trust it and don’t think it should be labeled as gluten free if it has that much of an impact on someone who is just intolerant.
Ordered the lamb salad and a pizza with chips to share. We asked for the chips to come out first but the lamb salad came out before they did. So we asked how long the pizza would be as one of us had our meal and the other didn’t - waiter said he’s asked them to start making it now…! Second visit here and I had the lamb salad last time which was beautiful and huge. This time, the salad was still lovely but was definitely almost half the size. Don’t know if we’ll be back. The gluten free Portuguese chicken pizza was very average.
The best takeaway Mexican food available in a consistent format and quality in a wide variety of locations around the city. Love the tortillas they use, plenty of gluten free options. Just so easy.
Had a great time here! Had amazing gluten free and vegetarian/vegan options. The staff was all super friendly and the ambiance was amazing! Just what we were looking for!
Can not wait to come back since the park out front was the perfect spot to dine, drink and enjoy the city.

Warm people and great food. There were several family celebrations going on which made the experience more fun. And the butter chicken was the single best dish we’ve had at an Indian restaurant. Also, great gluten-free options.
Absolutely disappointed with the $35 Prawn linguine pasta. It was VERY watery and the Linguine noodle was overcooked, no taste at all. Not even an exaggeration. 4 prawns and watered down pasta is not what you are expecting when you pay $30++. Definitely the worst pasta I have ever seen and tasted. Avoid at all costs. Although service provided by the wait staff was good. Hopefully they improve the quality of the food being served. They do offer gluten free options on the menu. However, was not able to try it. Will not be coming back.
We went here for our office's Christmas meal. The Christmas meal has some diversity, including vegan and gluten-free options. The service was also decent. Overall, will return to sample their regular menu.
Jordan's is one of the best places to eat in Darling Harbour. It has a pleasant alfresco atmosphere, with nice music and fresh air although indoor dining options are also available. Staff are lovely, attentive and friendly. The drinks and food are fantastic. Great seafood and delicious vegetarian and gluten free options as well. I strongly recommend this restaurant.
Second time I've visited here as part of a function, with the private back room. Staff are friendly and helpful, menu had great gluten free options and overall everything was extremely tasty.
So well looked after here! The chef and his staff were so friendly and accommodating to our dietary needs (coeliac) and made sure everything that came to our table had no cross contamination of gluten products. We enjoyed some of the nicest brazillian bbq dishes off their all you can eat menu and two servings of their truffle desserts. We like to eat so we spent a little more than the average person, but you can easily enjoy a decent meal here for $40-$70/person. 10/10 recommend.
