Excellent service and a great menu..they are also quite educated on gluten intolerance, which is a great thing for those with a gluten sensitivity. Kudos for that!!!

Absolutely love Cafe Pyrus 🫶 Cafe Pyrus is one of my favourite small businesses in K/W. Their food is amazing, even for someone who not vegan or vegetarian. I love the options you are given here. Food/Drinks The entire food menu can be made gluten free for $1 or if you’re not feeling a side you subtract $2 from your total. I believe any sandwich can be made into a wrap as well. My favourite is the Angry Vegan with a soup. (My favourite soup is the tomato, but the lime, and pumpkin were great!) Their desserts are also great. I have had the peanut butter cup, which was good, but very melty in the hands. The nanaimo was also great and a little less melty. The drinks! I am not a coffee lover, but their lavender iced latte was delicious! My favourite drink is the Foggy London Town. (Lavender syrup, steamed milk, and earl grey) I have tried many drinks here and you can’t go wrong. Cafe/Vibe The cafe is an excellent place to sit and study/work. Their is a water pitcher with cups to grab yourself, which I love because I don’t have to feel bad asking for a bunch of water. It is currently covered in Christmas decor, which is really getting me in the Christmas spirit. I also noticed coming here that they do art features, I’ve seen @arcasian__ and now they’re doing one of my classmates, @partypoisioner! I love the local representation. For music, expect indie-pop, alternative. Great vibes, not too loud and great to keep a conversation with someone. (Shoutout to the person who played Midnight Rain!) There is street parking, but if you’re planning on staying, there is Mon-Fri 8am-5pm parking for $2.24 an hour (rough estimate) All in all, Cafe Pyrus is a must visit and I wish I lived much closer so I could be a regular. Thank you to all the kind staff and great food here!

Edit: I spoke with Brandon the owner and agreed to come back. As previous the pizza and drinks were great. Both Brandon and his brother were apologetic and made sure we had a great time. While they could have just ignored it, they owned the issue which says a lot. We will be back. I recently dined in at The Civil with some friends. I had heard great things about it and was eager to try it. On arrival our waiter, did seem relatively new to the role, to give this context, I have worked in Food and Beverage in 6 countries for large luxury hotels. He was pleasant and made every effort to accommodate. Received our initial drinks and they were well presented and tasty (Flights). We ordered pizzas and my girlfriend made sure to advise the waiter she does have a gluten intolerance and ordered the gluten friendly specific pizza crust. When her pizza was brought out, I clarified with the waiter it was gluten friendly and he said yes. Immediately following ran back to the table to let her know he made a mistake and forgot to make that note for the kitchen and he would get it fired immediately. To this point no issues and it was handled well. I understand mistakes sometimes happen and appreciated his sense of urgency in resolving it. They also waived the charge for her pizza which I thought was a kind gesture. The new pizza took approximately 18 minutes to come out of the kitchen. At this point everyone else is done eating. What really left a negative taste in my mouth was the conversation I overheard between our new server and who I believed to be the manager. His words were "you need to go talk to that table, there time is up and we need the table, They need to settle the bill." I can appreciate that they have policies in place and agree with the application of it, but at this point, my girlfriend has just gotten her pizza, is a slice in and we now have a waiter telling us its time to go. We were not here this long because we wanted to be, but rather as a result of you and your staff's actions, or lack there of. I am disappointed that we were made to feel like we were an inconvenience in a situation that we had little control over. The pizza was great, and overall the service was okay, but in light of the way in which we were treated, I will not be returning and could not wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone else.

A mixed bag with a cold atmosphere and some seating quirks, but there's standout food and a personal touch from the staff.

The food was decent. The atmosphere is cold and could use some love… a picture on the wall or some candles? The waiter seated us in the back corner at the worst possible table even though the restaurant was not busy and we had made reservations days in advance. Also extremely disappointing that they have no gluten free pasta dishes or pizza. Probably wouldn’t bother going back for that reason as there are very few options for me.

Had the pleasure of enjoying lunch on the patio this afternoon. We ordered the pesto chicken burger with a gluten free bun and the ole smokey burger. The gluten free bun was a delight, which is rare for most restaurants. The menu was easy to read and understand for food restrictions/allergies. The service was incredible and we didn’t wait long for service or food. Will definitely be back.

Been here a few times and always had a great experience. It gets super busy so always good to book a reservation in advance. We come for the interactive tables which are always a delight. Food is fantastic, a lot of gluten free options available as well. We came here last night recently for Valentine's Day and had a great date night. Unfortunately we weren't able to participate in their V-day special menu because they didn't have any gluten free options added on there but we picked from the main menu and paid about the same price. Food is on the more expensive side but I promise you it's amazing and they have a little something for everyone to enjoy, the portions are also great and you really get the best bang for your buck! My only critiques are that when the place gets super busy you will have a bit of a wait despite reservation times and the interactive tables a lot of them need refurnishing. The booths are starting to crack up on the seats and the tables have scratches and rough patches from use so the tables may not pick up your inputs when you try to tap on something. I was a bit disappointed that they turned off their ordering feature and camera features as well on the tables last night as those are also a big feature. All in all a great time and I would recommend this place to anyone.

Careful attention to detail and a good selection of Italian food. If you are looking for a great dining experience in a non-chain restaurant, then go here! Great gluten free pasta and the special of the evening was delightful. Leave room for dessert.

Decided to go Wineology last minute and the whole crew from the servers to the owner were so accommodating and amazing from the minute we walked in until the minute we left. Adem, the owner was super attentive and such a friendly, respectful man. Food was so good , especially JC's pizza , to die for 😍! The gluten free option made it even better. Definitely will be going back whenever I am in Kitchener!
