What can I say, You've not visited York until you have been to Drakes Fish n Chips Restaurant in the heart of the Old town, this small shop and sit down restaurant is a must for any visitor to the City. the menu is rather good and caters for Gluten options. although a little crowed in the seating areas to the rear it works with its warm and friendly atmosphere.
My only wish is I would like to see them knock through into another room to make more space and cater for those with disability issues .
AMAZING! Great food, wonderful atmosphere, friendly and superbly knowledgeable about dietary requirements! Two coeliac diners!
Our server, Tanya, was knowledgeable, friendly, pleasantly interactive and catered superbly to our two coeliac diners as well as accommodating a small appetite of our elderly dad.
The food was superb, peppercorn sauce on the GF steak and the sauce with the seabass are off the scale. The smash burger went down a treat and the addition of the Baileys to the ice cream was quite luxurious!
Wish there was one closer but will definitely be back!
The decor and ambiance suited us well and, with one partially deaf diner, the atmosphere was perfect.
Good vegetarian and gluten-free options made this a better choice than some of the nearby restaurants. The food was good, the waiting staff were terrific, one dish was late because it had been accidentally missed but the cost was taken off the bill and didn't ruin our experience in the slightest. Had a great time, would visit again.

Sam was a brilliant waitress who accommodated for my gluten and dairy intolerance. The food was fresh and delicious. Lovely calm atmosphere. I have travelled to Vietnam and the food was authentic, Would come here again.
We visited York for a day trip as a family and, just like in other cities we’ve been to, we decided to go with Côte — and once again, it did not disappoint.
If you ask me, the starters might be the weakest part of the meal — and I say that only because the mains and especially the desserts are so good that they outshine the rest. Still, everything we had was enjoyable.
We had noted during our reservation that one of us has coeliac disease, and without even having to mention it when we sat down, they brought over a gluten-free menu. Huge thanks to the team for being so considerate and attentive.
For starters, we went with the Camembert Brûlée and Calamari. As mains, we had the Confit Duck à l’Orange and Poulet Breton (corn-fed roasted half chicken) — both of which you can see in the photos. The gratin dauphinois served with the duck takes the whole dish to another level, and the duck itself was cooked to absolute perfection.
On the side, I opted for the Green Salad, which might sound simple, but it’s incredibly tasty — the mustard vinaigrette deserves its own shoutout. Highly recommend trying it.
For dessert, we chose the Lemongrass & Lime Leaf Crème Brûlée, Crème Caramel Classique, and Chocolate Mousse. Everything except the Crème Brûlée was an instant hit with us. While it was beautifully made in theory, the flavor combination just wasn’t to our taste.
Côte once again nailed it. Fingers crossed the Manchester branch reopens soon so we don’t have to travel cities just to enjoy these amazing dishes!
Ate here yesterday afternoon. I am dairy and gluten free, which can cause a problem. Not here.. the food and service were excellent. The dairy and gluten free cheesecake was out of this world. Will definitely visit again when in York.
Anne was a fantastic server with great knowledge of the menus for my wife who is gluten intolerant, our drinks were kept topped up and the food was amazing. 🤩
Has a separate gluten free menu with items clearly labelled as being on set menu. Good set up in this regard. I really enjoyed my meal, but found the servings somewhat inconsistent. 3 of us had the beef rump, and all were different sizes and cooked differently, meaning some of my party did not enjoy their meals as much. Good cocktails and starters/desserts were nice. Waiting staff very accommodating.

Was a really great wagamama’s and the food was really delicious and fresh! Our server Mike was really kind and friendly and made sure we had everything we needed- especially as i’m gluten free :)
We organized a Christmas dinner at Ceasars with my students, an international group from different countries, over the weekend, and it was absolutely fantastic! Although the restaurant was quite busy, and the staff took great care of us.
Among my students, there were those with gluten-free and vegan dietary requirements, and every single order was prepared and served with such care, precision, and efficiency. I want to extend my special thanks to the staff for their outstanding service despite the crowd.
The food was simply amazing! Everyone was delighted. Ceasars is undoubtedly the go-to place in York for delicious pizza and pasta varieties. And the homemade tiramisu? Absolutely perfect!
Ceasars will definitely be our first choice for future events.
Thank you!

Lovely experience as always at Pizza Express on Museum Street. Food was fast to arrive and our waitress was super friendly and helpful throughout. As a Coeliac UK accredited restaurant, I always feel safe eating here. Our waitress even went to double check that the garlic butter was still gluten free as the gf label was no longer on the menu for this item. There is also 25% student discount available 6 days a week which is a fantastic offering.
Food delicious as usual. Will be back soon!
Great food. Bang on with allergy info and querying my order too when order something with gluten in - top marks for that alone!
The only downside was leaving my old North Face baseball cap behind, but that's my own stupid fault!

I rarely write negative reviews, but
From the moment the food arrived, it was clear that flavor was not a priority. Everything we ordered—from the mushroom starter to the main course—was under-seasoned, lacking any real depth or character. The ingredients tasted like they’d come straight from a freezer and hadn’t been properly introduced to a spice rack. Even the simplest dishes, like the pasta, managed to be both overcooked and underwhelming.
Service was polite but indifferent, which mirrored the food: functional, but with no real warmth or passion.
They do offer a gluten-free menu, which might seem like a plus—unfortunately, it’s not one I’d recommend. The gluten-free options were just as bland as everything else, with no creativity or attention to texture or flavor.
The drinks were the best part of the experience but still nothing to write home about
With so many great dining options available, I can’t see myself returning. It’s one thing to serve simple food—it’s another to serve food that’s simply dull.
Lovely restaurant with delicious food. We were 2 adults and a toddler and had dinner on a Sarurday early evening. Restaurant was busy but not fully occupied, although we had a booking. Staff were very friendly and accomodating, specially with gluten free options for our child. Food was fantastic and although we didn't go for dessert (as we ended up quite full) the cake display looked appetizing. I would definitely recomend!!
Love Burgsy's! Our go to for amazing Burgers! Great service, intimate dining. GLUTEN FREE BUNS!! (That taste so good!) I promise you will love it! (Frequent visitor to York from down south)
BEST BREAKFAST EVER! I am gluten free and vegetarian which is really difficult to cater for usually but Partisan absolutely smashed it! I had the most delicious breakfast full of flavour and bought a cake (from a choice of three GF options) on my way out! 😍 they also accommodated our booking for a group of 9 which was ideal!

Great tasty food. Love that they have a separate gluten free menu. Connor who served us was professional & friendly. Had a lovely fun night with friends. Thank you.
First time eating here (but have seen their desserts on Deliveroo and been tempted for a while), lovely decor and plenty of tables. We arrived and seemed to be the only people there at first, which was fine, better than feeling crowded, Nisa was lovely and welcoming, and gave us the pick of anywhere we wanted to sit. I was given a thorough allergen guide, as I needed gluten free, to check against the menu and Nisa gave me a run down of all my options saying they can easily build plate to avoid anything with gluten too. I chose the American waffle with toppings as I love when places cater for gluten free on dishes you wouldn’t normally find gluten free… this was so delicious! My fiancé had a “croffle” dish as a mix between a croissant and a waffle sounded very his sort of thing.
Overall it was lovely food, good prices for the size of the dishes, pretty decor, very clean and tidy and Nisa was very helpful and friendly as our server. We will come again!
Great for coeliacs! They have lots of gluten free options available and even though they say they can’t guarantee no cross contamination, I am very sensitive and had no reaction.
Absolutely would recommend for anyone who is gluten free.
Beautiful terrace overlooking the river which was a great spot for an excellent roast on a Sunday. First gluten free yorkshire pudding our coeliac has ever had as well!
Stayed one night on way home from Scotland.
Room was comfortable with lovely appointed ensure.
Ate evening meal and they were very accommodating for my gluten free requirements with most dishes being able to modify.
Breakfast was excellent with even gluten free black pudding!
14th December York really really busy, we dropped in on the off chance, no reservation the restaurant was really busy, the staff were amazing against all the odds found us a table ,
The menu was amazing, vegetarian, pescatarian gluten free and vegan, all our requirements were met in full , the team were attentive informative but not intrusive.
Nothing was a problem.the food was full of flavour and the best fresh ingredients.
We would highly recommend this restaurant for its atmosphere it’s menu and it’s staff and the costs are on point
We will be back
Thankyou
Very good gluten free options on all menus. We were staying at the hotel so had a breakfast as well as dinner. The food was excellent and they were able to cater very well to my gluten free diet.
This restaurant went the extra mile to offer me an interesting and exciting menu to meet my vegan and gluten intolerant diet.
Usually when I dine out I'm left out but I was totally included and for each dish served on the sharing menu, I was given an alternative.
The service and communication was amazing.
Thank you.
Won’t answer the phone at all, just hang up on us 10 times. We ordered a take away and can’t eat anchovies or cows cheese so we rang to edit the order and no one answered. Customer services can’t ring through for you and the app does not allow you to customise your order unless it’s ’vegan Or gluten free’. Very disappointing. We’re loyal customers and we’re just giving up on pizza express now as it’s such a ballache place to order in or from if you can’t eat certain foods … we’ve now spent over £40 on an order we can’t eat (and can’t cancel) because their website advises contacting the branch you order from after an order is placed and not before! Cheers guys !
We visited the three cups yesterday and I was impressed, the staff went out of there way to accommodate my requirements, being gluten free they made sure that my needs were met without any fuss, the staff didn't make me feel I was being a pain, food was lovely and the pub has a lovely atmosphere. A+ 😊
Not gluten free, but they do their best to reduce risk.

The service was wonderful, everyone was so helpful and kind! The food was absolutely delicious - I’ve been 5 or 6 times to Tah Tien and it’s been amazing each time! They’ve catered to my gluten free requests as well :)
Perhaps one of the cleanest hotels I've been to and the soundproofing is really good to get a wonderful night's sleep. The staff were exceptional and ever so helpful throughout my stay, and the breakfast was sublime, with lactose-free alternatives available as well as gluten-free bread. The swimming pool, sauna, and steam room were wonderful, relaxing, and free of charge. The location is only a short walk from York train station (less than 5 mins).
Really lovely little cafe. Excellently prepared food and sweet treats, including gluten free. Good coffee (I had a long black). And the service is really great.
Incredible food, amazing staff and great atmosphere! I'm a Londoner and pretty spoilt with great vegan food but this was by far the best I've ever had! Also a gluten free menu 🙏 My partner who's a meat eater also loved it! Also fantastic wine! 10/10
An overall disappointing afternoon tea experience for a gluten-free person.
-Supermarket bought cakes (clearly from Sainsbury's) on gluten free afternoon tea plate.
- 'cheese parcel alternative' for me was just a piece of white toast and cheese, not an equal alternative.
-£5 extra for the pleasure of a GF option which as noted, felt like poor effort and poor quality
Unfortunately Plush under delivered and over charged for what I got here.
Positives: Coffee and scone were good and clearly homemade
Summary: please make better gluten free options and don't buy supermarket cakes or biscuits for the afternoon tea, it is unfair to charge extra for this lack of service.
Thank you for such a wonderful evening.
I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone you must go eat here!!
Brilliant gluten free options which is usually hard to find.
We will definitely be back!

Great selection of drinks including gluten free beers. Bottle shop to takeaway and bar area to drink in.
We came here for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. It was our first visit and it was amazing! The food was so yummy, lovely presentation and definitely worth the money. The best dauphinoise potatoes we have ever had!
I’m gluten free, and they were so accommodating and helpful! And I felt safe to eat which is always nice :)
They do great gluten free options for coeliacs.
Two amazing things I tried:
CONFIT DUCK LEG
Served with a chorizo, bubble & squeak potato hash & a smoked paprika gravy.
SLOW ROASTED BELLY PORK
Stuffed with apricot & sausage meat, served with cider braised red cabbage, rosemary & garlic sautéed potatoes & a smoked bacon cream sauce.
Really nice food, lovely friendly service, room was a bit cool but we warmed up when the belly pork vindaloo came. Great menu choices, lots of veggie and vegan and gluten free options, very flavoursome and tasty. Reasonable prices, loads of food and a few drinks was less than 50 for us tonight. Recommended.
