Decided to eat here as they served gluten free fish and chips. The fish was nice but the chips were very disappointing. They were small, thin and resembled chip sticks rather than traditional chippy chips. Could only give one star for atmosphere as we were the only customers in the shop. We had a wonderful experience at Trattoria. The restaurant was decorated for the Christmas season and a welcome reprieve from a long, cold days walk in the hills.
The service was lovely and the pizza was out of this world! I am gluten free and to have gluten-free, handmade dough cooked in a wood fired oven with lots of cheese was superb.
I also ordered the tomato and basil salad which was fresh and delicious. The portions were quite large and worth the price. I highly recommend this authentic Italian, family run restaurant.

Me and my daughter had a gluten free afternoon tea here, the staff were incredible, the afternoon tea was delicious, the gluten free cakes, waffles and scones were absolutely gorgeous. I had mentioned when I phoned to book that we were coming for my daughters birthday and the lady brought out a piece of cake with a candle so we could sing!! The cherry on top of it all was the cafe had a dog called Holly who sat so well behaved on a chair at our table bringing is absolute joy!!! I would highly recommend!

I came here for lunch with my friend today after seeing the positive reviews and because they had gluten free options. I ordered a gluten free kebab dish. When it arrived, I double checked if it was gluten free as the pitta looked like gluten. The waitress said she would double check. When she returned, she confirmed it was NOT gluten free. She was very apologetic and said another would come out soon. I asked if I could get some olives whilst I waited and my friend had her dish. When my dish arrived, it was disappointing. The fries had clearly been from frozen and the gluten free bread was of poor quality and didn't go with the kebab, salad or coleslaw.
When we got the bill, I had been charged for the olives but they had reduced my main by 10%. All in all, I didn't complain as the staff were very apologetic. I wouldn't have minded the mistake and inattentive service had the food been good quality - especially at this price point.
Would not recommend for food.

First visit to this restaurant. Quirky building with little areas that seem to cover everything. Pool table in one area, big tv in another plus the restaurant where we were. I am gluten free and felt the menu was quite restricted for me. Ordered the salmon with parmentier potatoes and a dill buerre??? (Why don't they just say sauce!)
There were 6 of us and we all had something different and there were no complaints. Very large portions though so there was some waste. My salmon dish was not a large portion which suited me - I hate being overfaced with huge portions. Not cheap though. Service was great tbf - very polite and pleasant lady served us.

A beautiful location for the Lakes. We stayed for three days and didn't use the car at all. Alternative transport made trips out very easy and more enjoyable.
Our lake facing room was very comfortable although the bathroom was on the small side.
Everyone was very pleasant and helpful but meals were a challenge (my husband is coeliac and therefore gluten free) We gave up eating in the restaurant after our first night as the staff found it difficult to convey gluten free options satisfactorily. Breakfast was very much the same with myself being given gluten free or my husband not receiving gluten free. It was quite disappointing and would have been lovely if someone could have explained what exactly was available to him and got his order right!
Oh and don't expect a biscuit with your coffee.....it just doesn't and can't happen as it's a hotel for goodness sake!
Other than that we had an enjoyable time. Thank you.

We booked as a group of 10. We booked and emailed due to 1 of our party needing the gluten free vegan menu. The email explained they would cater. We booked on Sunday for some of the people at our table opted for the carvery deal. We sat and our reserved table was there. Unfortunately Sunday was a different menu which didn't state any gluten free options. Some of this menu was also not available on a Sunday.
We spoke to the staff who spoke to the chef and luckily they explained the fish and chips was a gluten free option. Some of us had visited the toilet where 4 toilets were out of order and there was no toilet tissue. The toilets were not very clean.
The carvery to some was disappointing. And the food was not what the menu had described.
We ordered vegan ice cream. We waited so long we left and asked for a refund.
The place needed an entire update and deep clean. The girls who worked there did their best with what they could work with. Unfortunately I would not recommend this place.
We had a wonderful visit to this cafe today. The staff were so welcoming and couldn't do enough to make sure we were happy. We had a dairy and gluten intolerance in our group and they made changes to meals and drinks we wanted easily and without making us feel like we were asking too much (which doesn't happen everywhere). The food was really tasty and the milkshakes and hot chocolates were very decadent. We will definitely be back.
