From Indiana. Arrived in Hinsdale for a 3rd Party Veteran Affairs Doc Appt 3/26. Had some time to spare and Googled the town. Sweet Aliâs showed up, saw Gluten-Free Bakery & had to see this place. Purchased: Dbl Choc Cookies & Banana Loaf w/ a complimentary Lemon Cake. Friendly staff. Excellent treats. Enjoyed the conversations and hospitality. Overall a neat little town full of nice folks.

This British bakehouse is phenomenal, personable, and not insanely priced. I'm not even gluten free and I loved it. My friend has celiac disease and is so limited when it comes to wheat eats so we went there as a small group to try it out and have some weekend fun. We each drooled over everything we ordered, (and I have a professional baking background so I'm pretty discerning)... Lemon bars, raspberry cake, other vanilla cake of some kind, sprinkled donuts and lattes. Go get them. Now. You're welcome. When I'm in the area again I will definitely be back for another sugar rush.

I had pasta al limon with salmon ( gluten free) I chose zucchini as alternative for noodles, it was tasteless and the sauce is less dense like it's a soup unlike the picture, salmon is ok it wasn't burnt and good seasoned. Please correct it. My husband had a BBQ chicken it's good we like it.

I haven't been able to have gluten due to diverticulitis and other health issues, I can't have soy since 2015.
It is very hard to find places that can accommodate. I found this place on tictok and had to go immediately. Let me tell you this is the best donut "the OG" I have ever had. I was almost in tears on the car ride home. I found my place and I found the nicest people there. I can't wait to go back and actually eat breakfast and sit down when I have the time.
With a rich history of over 100 years, this bustling spot offers a diverse menu and a vibrant atmosphere that makes every visit memorable.

Iâve ordered specialty cakes for both of my kidsâ birthdays. I needed gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, soy-free and egg-free. I never expect much in terms of texture and taste with all of the allergies, but was surprised with delicious cakes. Whatâs more, I asked to do some fun themes and provided inspiration photos, but expected a more basic version since the allergies were complicated enough. I was absolutely blown away when I opened my sonâs Alice in one-derland themed cake and smash cake. See for yourself. They went above and beyond.

I've been to Scone House Cafe a few times now, and have to write about how great they are. They're scones are always *chefs kiss* and they have such great flavors that are unique. I bought scones for my employees today, which some have dietary requirements, and this place caters to such a wide variety (gluten free, gluten free and dairy free, vegan etc).
Their staff is so welcoming and nice every time I have come, Artise is such a sweet human being that you just don't want to leave. I highly recommend this place!

Long ago, I loved this place. They had the best brunches. Then I became allergic to soy and gluten. They have almost no options for those with allergies - they are completely stuck in the past. The menu needs a major overhaul after 20 years and overall the place is run down. It's unfortunate.

The only sad part of this meal was when it was gone!
My family is from the south and we spent several years in Europe as well. But even without that experience under our belts we wouldâve tasted the love in the biscuits and the expertise in the divine savory crepes!
The owner was incredibly friendly and the bakery was very tastefully decorated. The entire place has a very calm (dare I say, encouraging?) vibe that makes me want to bring all my future coffee dates or work interviews there.
They also have a number of gluten and dairy-free options, which is so encouraging as someone with food sensitivities!
Suffice to say, the food was amazing, the meal was timely, and my only regret was not grabbing a dessert or coffee for the road.

Stanâs Donuts and Coffee was a delightful surprise during our Chicago trip! After being deterred by long lines elsewhere, we found Stanâs and were thrilled by their gluten-free donut options. The blueberry donut was my personal favoriteâperfectly balanced in flavor and textureâwhile the pumpkin spice and chocolate were also big hits.
The staff was friendly and efficient, even during a busy afternoon. We paired our donuts with a hot chocolate and black coffee, both of which complemented the treats perfectly. The cozy atmosphere and quick service made this a must-visit spot for anyone with a sweet tooth.

I don't know what took me so long to try this place, but I'm so happy I did. Delicious salads and pastries and lots of gluten-free options. Looking forward to trying their breakfast too. Green Joe has great espresso, and thats all I've ever gotten here. They always have an array of local artists' wares on display, which is very cool of them. I noticed, as have many others, that they slowly ran out of things and closed down over the last few weeks/months, which was, as a customer, weird to witness.
As for the negatives - this wasn't a coffee place you could go if you liked pastries with your coffee. All they stocked was a small selection of gluten free/vegan options, and the ones I tried were honestly the *worst*, inedible gluten free products I've encountered. The atmosphere was cold, I dont remember them ever playing music, and the only appreciable light was cool daylight from the huge windows. All hard surfaces - not a great spot to hang out if comfy cozy Cafe is your preferred vibe. The employees gave a similarly disconnected vibe - almost none of them were outwardly friendly, it was almost like ordering coffee from robots most of the time.
Regardless, GJC is/was the only independent coffee shop in a huge radius. Their pricing was great as was the espresso. I certainly hope they can reopen, at least for the sake of all the locals who lived closer than I did. If not, I guess Brewpoint and Conscious Cup are my only remaining options!
This spot is a bustling breakfast haven known for its generous portions, unique menu options, and a strong following, so expect a wait!

I got the butchers block skillet. It was full of bacon, ham, sausage, cheese and hash browns. It was very good. Kind of salty with all the meat and potatoes but still very tasty. They don't have Splenda but they offer Stevia and regular sugar packets. I went on a Thursday afternoon and we walked in and got a table for 6 with no wait. If you're planning on going on the weekend I would plan for a long wait. Every weekend when I pass by the restaurant there's always a line waiting for a table. This restaurant is down the street from a lot of hotels and from major Chicago attractions like the Bean. I also got pancakes with my meal. All and all it was a good meal. The portions are generous. They do offer gluten free options. They have Coke products. My friend got their berry Bliss waffle. It looked delicious. Our waiter could have been better. I asked for oat milk and I got regular cream. My friend asked for a diet Coke and never got it until right before our food came out. They also have a large outdoor seating area.

Had a work lunch here last week, and was happy to see there is a separate gluten free menu available, so I didn't get my hopes up about something I couldn't actually have. My dish came out with a little flag indicating "allergy" so there was no confusion at the table. Most importantly, the food was very good!

Friendly staff, but a small (and generic) brunch order for a celiac party took 2 full hours. Safe food, but the wait was too much. Do not recommend blintzes unless you appreciate taking shots of vanilla extract (overwhelming in the filling).

Greta place to chill, there are lots of tables in the back⊠keep walking in and swing left. The coffee order before ours was incorrect, so they had to remake it. Then our matcha latte was pretty mid. Obviously, this is not a matcha specialty place, but the blackberry dessert bar that we had and the bla berry brownie were both good. They have gluten free options as well and salads and sandwiches. The ordering is a bit tedious because it was just one guy when we went in yesterday. Lots of seating outdoors on both street sides of the store. Families, students studying, individuals and groups hanging out.

They have a great selection of so-so donuts. The flavor is usually pretty good but they're on the hard side and, while good for dunking (if you're into that sort of thing), not as fun for eating.
Their gluten free options are very limited and under the same glass as all the others. Additionally, the nuts options are also not separated, making it harder for those with nut allergies.
I highly recommend the strawberry bismark - the almost creamy strawberry jam is delicious, sweet, and the bismark is nice and soft. Great with hot or iced coffee.
I got the oat milk iced latte and was quite pleased. My regular elsewhere is a macchiato, but their latte was plenty good as a substitute.

Employees are great. But the store is ridiculously expensive and they have items that are not allergen free marked that they are. If you want veggies sushi for almost $8 then this is your place. They have kept the NON-gluten free Bob's Red Mill steel cut oats in a spot marked as 0 allergens. They have been there for over a year. They are not the same.

Iâm a big fan of this place. The food is always delicious. I love the healthy options and appreciate never feeling yucky after filling up here. The atmosphere is âitâ for me. I also appreciate that it feels like a safe space. My go to is the avocado toast, I appreciate being able to switch the toast out for a gluten free option. The gluten free banana bread and pumpkin bread are so good! Breakfast was great as well! 5/5 for food, drinks were not good so just recommend going for good food and gluten free options.
I had a build your own, gluten free and vegan pizza it was pretty good. I wouldâve liked less cheese since vegan cheese tends to get slimy if you add too much of it. Other than that I loved how fresh the ingredients were.
