Celiac review here. Food is delicious American fare. Smashed burger gluten free and gf fries both sweat potato and crinkle cut with dedicated fryer. Good sauces. Would go again.

An all around spectacular meal. First the service was first class from the greeting and seating to the table service. Every single dish was fantastic but the Beef Carpaccio and BBQ Tuna really stood out. Great selection of Gluten Free options on the menu, very accommodating. Thank you for the wonderful visit, can't wait to return.
Expect a warm, family-like atmosphere with attentive service and a focus on detail, making it perfect for special occasions or a casual night out.

Always a nice dining experience for a special occasion or just a great dinner overall. They pay so much attention to detail to every dish and are willing to modify anything they can to make it GF. They have a separate fryer. I always get the fried okra coated in corn meal for an appetizer! The pepper jack creamed corn without the breadcrumbs is amazing!! The burrata salad needs to be ordered without the breadcrumbs on top. Their steaks are always delicious!!
Known for its charming atmosphere and thoughtful touches, this spot makes special occasions memorable, though it's hit or miss on the food front.

A lovely restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. We went for brunch and there were a few GF options on the menu. I was a little taken back that the chef was unwilling to modify a dish by substituting chicken for shrimp. I ended up with a salad and added chicken to it. My husband’s food came out cold with a film over it. I’ve heard such great things about this restaurant, so was a little disappointed. Maybe it was just an off day.
Experience a vibrant culinary journey with a seasonal menu offering unique dishes and standout flavors that keep diners excited for more.

I was there for brunch, which is a little more difficult for GF options than dinner. No pancakes, no biscuits, no gravy, no fried chicken. They can modify some of the menu items to be GF. I got the short rib dirty rice with fried egg bc it didn’t need to be modified. The deviled eggs were amazing. I will say that they do want to accommodate wherever they can, but it is difficult with the breaded and fried items. I will go back for dinner some time though.
Charming spot with a diverse menu and a great vibe, featuring lovely views and a cool drinks selection that caters to all tastes.

Great little place with a nice selection on the menu. They do accommodate gluten-free although it's not their specialty. You can get a $6 yuengling draft or pay as much as you want for mixed drinks. They truly have something for everyone.
Tasty BBQ with a cozy vibe, great atmosphere, and unique sauce options, though the indoor temps can be chilly at times.

We stopped by for a quick lunch. The food was really good! They have a gluten-free menu with multiple options. Unfortunately, they do not have gluten-free bread or rolls, so no sandwiches, but everything else was great.

Always a fabulous meal. Lots of gluten free options, and they’re clearly marked on the menu. The dishes are continually changing, and I love that they update the menu for the day on their website by noon. It’s a very homey and relaxed atmosphere. It’s small enough that you don’t feel crowded and you don’t have to yell to the others at the table to converse. We’ve been several times, and will definitely continue to go.

All pizza is prepared in flour, I asked if they could make it on tin foil and she said all surfaces are covered in flour there would be cross contamination. Disappointed. No good for true celiac allergy.

This place is absolutely amazing! The tacos are delicious and the salsa and queso are some of the best my family and I have ever had. We were so caught up in the food that we forgot to take pictures, but thankfully my girlfriend managed to snap a photo of her tres leches cake before we devoured it! The service was excellent. The only thing Taco Boy needs is some of my hotsos ;)

A great place for dinner with a beautiful waterfront view. Nothing is labeled GF on the menu, but a lot of their items are naturally GF or can be modified to be gluten free. For example, they can cook the brussel sprouts and potatoes in a pan rather than in the fryer. Or leave the bread off of the burrata appetizer. They are very knowledgeable about celiac and can customize your meal in their open view kitchen. They also have a rooftop bar which is more casual.
A great spot with labeled options, but be mindful of cross-contamination when enjoying your experience here.

My husband and I had a wonderful meal at Henry's today. I have celiac disease so need gluten free options and they had their options labeled on the menu. One of the options was the Steak Frites, but when I asked if they fried the fries in a separate fryer, unfortunately they said they don't have a clean fryer for gluten free fries. I don't think the Steak Frites should be labeled gluten free if they aren't going to accommodate a separate fryer for the fries. It is very important to be careful about cross contamination for people with celiac disease. Otherwise, the meal and the experience were great. Just be careful and make sure to speak up about your gluten allergy
A delicious dinner! Sean C. Was such a good server. He was very thoughtful regarding a gluten allergy at our table and went above and beyond to accommodate us. Will definitely come back!

Went for dinner with a group of friends while visiting Charleston. We ordered a lot of different items - all were flavorful and paced well so we didn’t have too many plates on the table at once. The service was fantastic. The gluten free dessert was surprisingly delicious. Off street parking was a plus.

My husband and I really enjoyed this restaurant, but I did wish there were more gluten-free opinions. We sat outside on a beautiful Saturday evening around 6 pm. in September. After we had a bite to eat, we walked dover to the battery.
Exceptional personalized service and a delightful atmosphere make it perfect for special occasions and unforgettable dining experiences.

We were in town for our 10th Wedding Anniversary and this was the place I was most excited to visit. Our waiter , James, was amazing. I appreciated the attention to my husband's gluten allergy throughout the meal. The meal was paced perfectly and the food was very good. I also highly recommend the coconut cake! The only negative that we don't have one of these back home!

Had to wait a while for brunch on Saturday, but it was worth the wait. The service was excellent, and the food was even better. Great selection of beer and booze, and even had some Gluten Free options that were necessary. Highly recommend.
We stopped here for Art-O-Matic. I'm gluten intolerant and they had several options on the menu. I had the omelet and it was great, just missing some gluten free toast with it. My hubby had the club and really liked it. Our waitress was really friendly and helpful. The bartender...not so much. It was super busy, and getting water and drink refills was our only issue.

The service was absolutely amazing! The hostess, Tatum at the door was so welcoming. My server, Hallie was so helpful with navigating gluten free options. My best friend is vegetarian so we are hard to accomadate but Hallie was bubbly and happy to help! She helped us find the perfect dish for both of us to enjoy. The live music was astounding! Nothing compares to the craving I get for port of call!

This place was great, a bit cheaper than a lot of other places in the area. The menu has plenty of gluten free options. Our server was knowledgeable re. celiac and was friendly and quick. There were folks watching a game so it was a little rowdy but we didn't mind.

The food was amazing. I got shrimp, sausage, corn, and potatoes. The food was swimming in garlic butter and it was amazing. My friend is gluten free and she had the soup and said it was amazing. Our wait was a bit long, but it was very busy so I'm sure they did the best they could. Waitress was very friendly. Highly recommend.
The food was fresh, delicious, and there were great healthy options for vegetarians, vegans, and those with gluten sensitivities. The prices were great as well. The only complaints to be had were that it seemed a little small and cramped (though really not that bad) and that the frozen margaritas weren't really frozen margaritas...more like a margarita on the rocks with some ice slush swirled in. Still good, just not your typical frozen marg!

I was told to try the food here - GLAD I listened. Succulent beef burger - I'm gluten-free, so No Bun. They claim to have the best burger in Charleston, and I DO NOT Doubt It. Very nice, helpful proprietor and prompt service. The building has vintage charm, and the lighting was perfect. Highly Recommend.

I had an incredibly disappointing experience at El Jefe in Charleston. I ordered a grilled shrimp corn tortilla due to my gluten-free dietary restriction, but the kitchen mistakenly brought out a flour tortilla. After taking a bite, I immediately noticed and informed the server, who was very kind and understanding. When my order was remade, it came with chicken instead of shrimp, which I couldn’t eat as I am pescatarian.
Things escalated when what seemed to be either the manager or owner approached our table, asking to know why I didn’t eat the tacos. When I explained that I had originally ordered shrimp, he snapped at me, saying, “Take it up with your server.” His tone was hostile and unprofessional, which took me by surprise.
Later, when we had some leftover food and drinks, we invited a friend of ours to help us finish them. Before he could enter, the manager insisted that one of us personally vouch for him. When I went to the front to do so, the manager immediately started yelling at me, somehow calling me by my first name, and aggressively demanding, “Either get out of my restaurant or get inside.” He got uncomfortably close to my face, which made me feel genuinely unsafe.
When I returned to tell my friends what had happened, one of them went to the front to speak with him. At that point, the manager physically grabbed her and told her to leave. She was visibly distressed and crying, yet he showed no remorse whatsoever.
The only positive aspect of our experience was our server, who truly tried her best despite the hostile and unprofessional behavior from what seemed to be management. However, the way we were treated by the manager or owner was absolutely unacceptable.
I would strongly caution anyone considering dining here—especially if you have dietary restrictions or expect even a basic level of respect from management. We left shaken and appalled by how we were treated.
Enjoy a wonderfully welcoming vibe with attentive service and great communication about menu options that make dining a breeze!

Gabby and Dom were great servers and very attentive! Having a gluten and dairy allergy they brought out the sou-chef to talk with me about menu options and were very accommodating and reassuring in my food restrictions. A great meal!
