Cute, artsy 100% gluten free cafe. ⭐ Obviously frequented by locals by the friendly chats that took place with staff while I was having lunch. Chicken salad with blueberries and pineapple was delish! Disabled access. Some outside tables.

Eating here was a treat! The food was amazing and the service was superb. They really understand coeliac and cater to it well. I felt very comfortable eating here and am very sad I have to fly back home today and cannot come back tomorrow!

Visited twice over the weekend. The first day we had the lobster roll which was awesome and the oysters which were super fresh. We had gluten free fish and chips on our second visit and it was one of the best I’ve had. The views were amazing and a surprisingly good beer selection topped it off. Will visit again

I usually have a great experience at Rupert and hound however tonight was appalling. We had friends visit from interstate so we took them to one of our favourite restaurants here . Being coeliac also a great option for dinner as well. Friends have a 4 year old boy and we have a 3 year old boy, made this clear on the booking. Our waiter was fantastic. No issues. After the boys finished their dinner and we had just been served our mains they were a bit difficult , wanting to get down from the chair , trying to play with their toy cars on the floor , and we were all attempting to control the situation however as anyone with kids will know it can take a few minutes to figure out what is going to work tonight to get them to settle which we were working on. Got the kids settled, my son was on the lap of my wife with the phone volume turned down watching some videos , and the 4 year old was on the floor by the chair , plenty of room around playing quietly with his cars, could not hear them over the general noise at the restaurant at this point. The issue as follows, table behind us had a young couple, unsure if they were reviewing the restaurant or something as they had a decent sized camera taking photos of food etc , they were sitting at a table for two against the window near the water. Their waiter came to them and informed them he had organised a new table for them in another area, not to worry it was still by a window and near the water if they would like to be shown to their new table. The couple was visibly confused, they asked why they needed to move and the waiter confirmed ‘if you’re going to enjoy your dinner you’d want to do that somewhere that isn’t so loud and distracting because of where you are sitting ‘ again couple confused asked what he meant, and he confirmed that ‘obviously the family behind is being quite loud and the children were misbehaving’ , they said it wasn’t an issue and were happy with their seating, the waiter confirmed ‘when it becomes a problem just let me know and I’ll sort you out okay’. The whole conversation was riddled with tone from the waiter. The kids at this point at mentioned were not making any noise. Firstly totally killed the atmosphere in the section immediately. Secondly if you have an issue with the kids let us know, we were attempting to get them under control earlier and there is no issue in popping over if the kids are being disruptive and say ‘hey are we doing okay over here, noticed things seem to be getting a did you want to order some dessert for the boys etc’ Finally the couple clearly didn’t have an issue with what the waiter considered loud and disruptive and by the time he had offered to move them which they didn’t request the kids were fine. Our guests were quite upset and while we went to pay the mother of the 4 year old took him out the front , and needless to say left in tears. I won’t be going here again after this.

Had a fantastic meal here and wish we had have found it earlier in our trip! The service and food were excellent and our waitress Annie was particularly helpful and accommodating. The food was fantastic and caters to vegan and gluten free ( with many options for both which was much appreciated over the usual one or two). We absolutely loved our food and would highly recommend!

Good understanding of requirements for gluten free, separate fryer for chips. Had salt & pepper squid w chips and salad, all delicious! Gets busy so be prepared to wait to order if arriving at peak times, once ordered though food arrived quickly.

Amazing atmosphere and so many gluten free options! They have a sign specifically stating to use special gf tongs to grab gf food which of course we can all agree is very reassuring!! The food was delicious!! Definitely a wonderful stop!

This place is the best, and safe for Coeliac customers. The owner has a coeliac in the family, so the menu has a huge range of gluten free foods, and all deserts are gluten free. The service was incredible and the food is amazing! My fav place when I visit Tassie, knowing I’m in safe hands ❤️

Ordered the seafood chowder and half a dozen oysters while partner ordered the edge chicken. The food was delicious and the service ladies were lovely. According to the menu, the owner and chef is gluten-free, so this is also a great option for coeliacs. In terms of vibes, I was expecting almost like a classy restaurant vibe but think of it more as a take-away fish and chip shop. While the restaurant is located close to the water, I mostly got obstructed views of the sea as there is a green space between the restaurant and the sea. Honestly, not a big deal as the food and service more than made up for it.

We came at a very busy time, but they gave us an accurate time of an availability and they fit us it. After being seated, my 4 year old promptly spilled his apple juice. Scott immediately appeared with a towel and a cheerful “No worries” to set us at ease. The presentation and flavours of our brekkies were spot on; oats bowl, banana and salted caramel pancakes and avocado on toast were delicious and satisfying too. They catered to gluten free and vegan for two of our party without comment or drama. Ashmore on Bridge St is one of the great cafes in Tasmania and Richmond is a better destination because of it! Dinner of fish and chips and seafood paella. Great to have gluten-free options. Food was good, but personally, I felt the portions could have been slightly more generous for the price. Nice venue with good views, attentive and friendly service. We enjoyed our meal, the seafood was cooked well and the flavours were on point.

GLUTEN FREE - OMG. You know what, you can make your own atmosphere but whose got the inclination when all want to do is sink your teeth into the delicious burger served to your table. We will be getting another "Burger" fix for our "Soul"before leaving Tassie. Still as good 3 years since our last visit from SA.

I am coeliac & it was a wonderful surprise when I asked if I could get gf fish & chips & stated I was coeliac. The staff are all over it fully understanding ingredients, separate fryers etc. The food, staff & atmosphere was very enjoyable. We will be back next time we visit Tassie. Thank you ☺️
