I visited Bodega Underground last year and had an alright experience, however it feels like they’ve really stepped things up since then. Every dish was excellent, flavourful and hot, and staff were very friendly. The kitchen was very efficient and food came out quite quickly. I’d recommend the fish tacos and birria tacos as the must-try. The menu is also 100% gluten free! Don’t forget to book ahead as it can get very busy and they mightn’t have any walk ins available.

100% gluten free menu, didn’t get sick after as a sensitive coeliac. Came here on a double date and got the $69 per person feed me. There was SO much food, we have an appetite and came hungry and we could not finish it all, which was a shame as it was incredible. We have been coming here for years but truly every time we come back it somehow gets better. The staff are awesome & accomodating and really helpful, they made me a super zingy spicy margarita which was great too.

Incredible food! The whole menu being gluten free made it such a stress free experience and every dish way over delivered. Great little vibe - cozy, intimate and funky. The service was polished yet unpretentious, friendly yet unobtrusive. 10/10 - have recommended.

Food was awesome. Drinks were good. I have food allergies and appreciated being able to talk to the chef and get some help. There are alot of options for gluten, egg and dairy free. My only point of improvement would be the menu system. I feel like the hard copy menus need to come back… I felt it took the fine dining and customer service out of the experience to order from my phone and I would love to see that change as this place has been around for a long time and it’s always felt like a special place to come dine at. I also felt the music was also a touch too loud to hold a conversation (but that could just be me). Other than that we had a great meal.

Mission District serves hands down the best Mexican food I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating, ever! There was seriously not a single thing that we ordered that I disliked, as everything was irrefutably DE! LI! CIOUS! This place now holds a special place in my heart because it’s where I ate a burrito (Yes, a BURRITO! NOT a burrito bowl! — Fellow coeliacs, iykyk) for the first time in my life and honestly, I absolutely, totally get the craze now! 🤤🤤🤤 Furthermore, the fact that the restaurant is accredited by Coeliac Australia is a monumental bonus which negates the typical dining out anxiety. The venue has some cute decor choices— not something I typically mention in my reviews but couldn’t help but compliment anyway. The service staff were very friendly too, which is one of the many, many awesome things about this place. Mission District is most definitely and officially my top place for Mexican now for sure; there’s really no other place that compares!

We were excited to try this restaurant after discovering that the entire menu was gluten free. It was disappointing that the margaritas were made with lime cordial, and do not include Triple Sec as a traditional margarita would. It was also sad to see the meals drenched in what tasted like an artificial cheese sauce, which left us feeling quite nauseous afterwards. The service also was a little off, with multiple waitresses coming to take our order several times even after we'd ordered. After spending around $170, we left feeling pretty disappointed with the whole experience. We received a follow up email from our booking saying 'If you enjoyed your experience please feel free to click here to leave us a comment. If there is something we didnt quite get right, our Manager would love to hear from you'. Not being one to typically leave a bad review, particularly for small business, I sent an email advising of our experience. Sadly I never received a response, hence the honest review.

Was recommended this restaurant as it was stated that they cater for gluten free meals. They do and a very good menu selection. Seating is upstairs with a view. The service was very efficient yet not rushed. Food quality was good and good portions. Would recommend.

I was lucky enough to go on a Tuesday when they had 2 for 1 tacos and I enjoyed the pulled pork version. Delicious. Friendly and efficient service and 100% gluten free. Would definitely go again

GREAT YUMMY TACOS, Gluten Free, Freshly Made. Had a great catch up with a mate, this place has great vibes & yummy food. HIGHLY Reccomend It. Owner and her staff are amazing! Founder was a former Gym instructor so its nice to know your getting quality, nutrious, fresh ingredients. Highly Reccomend it.

All the food is vegan and gluten free. Set menu is very convenient and there is plenty of food. Definitely recommended if you have allergies or follow a vegetarian/vegan diet. Staff are nice and welcoming, definitely gonna go back!

Cried from how good the food is, finally some authentic Mexican food after traveling through Australia. The owner is so kind and interacts with all of the guests, the menu is delicious, atmosphere is wonderful. All gluten free. I wish I lived in Brisbane so I could frequent this place.

Disappointingly, despite numerous gluten-free options on the menu, we were informed that nothing could be safely prepared for coeliacs due to shared cooking surfaces. We were surprised they couldn't accommodate with a clean pan or similar. We finished our drinks and we're then rolled they could do the tacos safe. Make sure you ask all the questions.

amazing place!! nearly every single item on the menu is gluten free and was reassured after telling them i had coeliac disease. everything we ordered tasted great, it is on the more expensive side but definitely worth it. we went for the truffle fries, broccolini, chips with guacamole, beef tacos, chicken tacos, and prawn tacos. the prawn and beef tacos were the stars of the meal!

Had dinner tonight with a large group and can not wait to come again. Three of us are coeliac and there were so many options for us. The gluten free churros are amazing and I’ll be bringing my younger children back just for those on a picnic blanket by the water. The atmosphere was really nice. If you're after great margaritas and tasty food, this Mexican Restaurant is the place to be. The margarita selection is amazing, and happy hour deals make it even better. Their tacos are loaded with flavor, the nachos are perfect for sharing, and the ribs are super tender. Plus, they cater very well for gluten free options, which is a big win. All in all, it’s a solid spot for a good meal and drinks. Definitely worth checking out!!

Possibly the best Mexican restaurant going around, always try and make a stop off here when visiting Ballarat from Melbourne. The vegetarian and Gluten Free options are spot on. The atmosphere is a vibe and the staff are super friendly. Would recommend the Pabellon Criollo!

An otherwise nice experience ruined by one very rude staff member. The food was alright, nothing we’d rave about. A few points on the lower rating: - We had initially booked for 22-23 people and had 3 extra show up last minute that were missed in our final headcount, we understand this could be inconvenient but we did have the space on the table allocated to fit them. Unfortunately, the waitress was quite snappy when she asked “Is there more people coming?! There’s no more space nor extra tables for anyone” before storming off. This was an initial experience that made us feel awkward. We understand the inconvenience but we also accept that if the extra attendees could no fit a reasonable solution would’ve been to explain that we only booked for 23 and that they should leave. - The behaviour continued on from here: my colleague let her know she was the one who had ordered the gluten free taco and she snapped back at her in such a way that a quarter of the table pulled faces in shock. - When we asked them for the cake. It was brought out unprepared in a box. Perhaps an over sight if they were busy but really unusual. But as it was this waitress that brought it out in a box and another server who offered to then take it back and serve it on a plate one can never be too sure. - The music was loud. Like, SUPER loud. Which makes it understandable when the staff speak louder. But the waitress in question was super loud and at times to the point of yelling when snapping at us and pulling faces like she was very unhappy to be there or serving us. The other two servers were very lovely. So we’ve bumped the star rating up for them. - Lastly, we also had issues when we were asked to leave. We were well aware we had a timed booking and honestly they did well to stick to time, it didn’t feel like we were being asked to leave too quickly after we finished eating but again the rude waitress was very short with us whereas the other waitress was more apologetic and said times up just letting you know you need to leave. - Overall it was a profound experience. Sadly the food wasn’t redeeming enough to make it enjoyable. Some suggestions if I may: If your staff are having a bad time, assign them to a different table. Everyone’s going to be happier in the long run. Turn the music down slightly. Music definitely brings vibes but if you’re all yelling at each other or having to ask people to repeat things enough times until you default to smiling and nodding - it’s definitely too loud. If people have timed bookings, it is completely reasonable to say something like “just letting you all know you have 15 minutes left on your booking, we are a bit busy tonight so we’d really appreciate that you leave on time so we can prepare for the rest of our night” and to give timed reminders after that point. Again if people aren’t moving at that time (happens so often with larger groups, trust me we know it) just again be firm but not rude with “sorry times up! We hope you had a good night but we will need to start preparing the table for our next guests” To the waitress directly: It’s best not to assume everyone is stupid and against you on a bad day. Some of us have also done our hard yards is hospitality too and know how it gets serving large tables. You’ll find that most people are sympathetic if you’re feeling a bit off but you’re in a customer facing role, please learn to take breaks if you need them.

While the food and service was pretty good, the pricing definitely does not match the portion sizes! My partner and I dined here for dinner, spending hundreds on food, and we ended up having to get takeaway food elsewhere because we were still hungry. Not a huge deal, but we also ordered the ceviche specifically specifying that it be WITHOUT crispy shallots due to coeliac disease and not being able to have gluten. We were assured this was okay, however, the food came with the crispy shallots anyway.

Delicious food and a great view of Cotton Tree beach. Almost the entire menu is gluten free as corn flour is traditional Mexican. We had the best crumbed calamari in town, as well as delish breadfruit and shrimp avo Mango salad. Yummmm

This place has an extensive menu with multiple options including Mexican (all gluten free) pizza & Korean. It’s all outdoors & undercover with heating provided for the chilly evenings. The food was brought out quickly & was reasonably priced. I loved the atmosphere & the decor. The food was delicious.

Ordered a toasted burrito. The red chilli sauce was unfortunately quite mild, but the burrito itself was great. Friendly service! (As a celiac, they do cater to us. However, the gluten-free burrito is very delicate and you might have to finish the meal in a bowl.

I’m a big fan! We have been to Hawthorne and recently tried new farm. Cannot fault the food it is sumblime. So much flavour! And I am gluten free so was very happy the tortillas were corn and not wheat, I could basically eat everything on the menu which is incredible. Will be back soon.
