Great place for seafood and Gluten Free dining. We went for dinner and lunch both. The servers were fun and personable but they can be a little slow. It's worth it though. The food was great and there are numerous GF options.

This place has some positives, but my experience overall was disappointing. The atmosphere was nice, with a spacious bar area and a great beer selection that supports local breweries, which I really appreciated. However, the food and cleanliness left a lot to be desired. The French dip was a letdown – dry, with an odd choice of American cheese instead of the usual provolone or Swiss, and while mushrooms were included, which I know some places do, they’re not my preference. Overall, the sandwich just wasn’t good. The potato skins were also subpar, barely a 2 out of 5. On the other hand, the mac and cheese was pretty good, and my kid enjoyed it. There were some cleanliness issues. I found a small fleck of lint or hair on my cup, and I noticed the bartender using her bare hands to pick a lemon seed off the side of a glass while making water for another guest. These details were off-putting and made me feel a bit skeeved. While they do offer gluten-free options and a great beer selection, the food quality, service, and overall experience weren’t quite worth the price.

After several poor attempts at gluten free eats, we finally made it to Whiskey Kitchen. First of all a Celiac heaven. I had crab cakes, which were amazing, fries (they have a dedicated fryer) and slaw. My fiance is from the DMV and had the crab cakes as well. He said they were true crab cakes and the best he’s had in a long time. We didn’t get dessert because our meals were huge. If you have Celiac or gluten intolerance, this is the best place in Virginia Beach.

Early 4:30 PM dinner on 5/2/25. * Note: You can use the public parking lot across the street for $6 an hour vs the valet at the restaurant. I don't want kids driving my vehicle. We have been coming to Virginia Beach off/on for 24 years and dining at Waterman's each trip. 3 years since our last visit. Walk in. No reservation. Seated promptly inside as requested. Our standard order for two orange crushes placed. These crushes had very little actual orange taste and more ice than drink. $9.25 each. We have the drink recipe from Waterman's and make them at home regularly with the original Burnett's orange vodka. These crushes were made with the new Waterman's orange branded vodka. Didn't order any more. My wife's salmon salad and crab cake were very good. My lobster tail and sides were also good. A lot of flies inside the restaurant detracted from the meal. *Note this review was completed without using ridiculous un-discriptive terms like out-of-bounds, OMG, on point, awesome, the bomb, yummy, delish, to die for, do yourself a favor, trust me, flavorful, or kids emojis etc.. Describe the food, service (or lack of) and provide details on the cost/copy of check and include pictures! Is the place clean? No disrespect to the employees, but no one cares about the waiter/waitress/clerk names, or if they look like they fell face first into a tackle box. They get changed like underwear and you don't get to pick one. We don't care about your allergies, vibes, how "chill" you feel, or the need for gluten free food. **If you see a Google review posted with just stars & no text, report it via the 3 dot selection adjacent to the review. We entertain our 'out of town' family every summer, and every year, they request Ynot Italian for a big family dinner. It's a place that never disappoints! Everyone finds a delicious choice for dinner, even our gluten free family members..with no fuss! The staff are very friendly and so efficient. It's a fantastic family restaurant!

This has been our family spot for years when we come for family vacation. It’s 9 times out of 10 a great experience. Some good things. They have great gluten free options. Their orange crushes are the best. And the prices are deff reasonable. Some not so good things. Caution if you sit outside when there is live music, you can’t hear each other talk and will have to yell. Some of their dishes lack flavor. Their peel and eat shrimp are almost inedible due to not being deveined and hard to clean out yourself.

My first time here! Having celiac disease makes it very difficult to eat out. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about everything. Our food was top notch and even pointed out the spiced mustard was not gluten free. I never eat a full dish and I cleared my plate. I believe our server was Alainna! The food was decent, but overpriced. The service was pretty attentive. It seemed like they were trying, but there were several little issues that added up. We had a large group, they asked right when my wife and I got there if we wanted an appetizer and kindly gave us time to look over the menu, but hurried away when they came back the next time so we couldn't order. We realized after we left that we never got our salad wraps that we paid for. 😂 The food was decent, but for the price, I was expecting something special. I know its not authentic by any means, but it was just kinda greasy. They mixed up our checks. The first check said gratuity included, but the final check after credit card said gratuity not included, which is deceptive (not the servers fault). We had someone with celiac in the party, and they ordered all gluten free, but still had a bit of a reaction.

Perfect burgers every time. It can get pretty busy around dinner time on the weekends, but there are usually a couple seats at the bar if you want to skip the wait. The fries are so crispy and nicely seasoned! The Willie Nelson burger is incredible and great perfect portion size. We also enjoy the gluten free build your own burger— decent gf burger bun that doesn’t fall apart and the tater tots are gluten free.

I really debated about posting this, because I’ve been a frequent customer. Unfortunately this is a big safety concern for anyone who has allergies or sensitivities. On Thursday 11/26/23 around 1:00pm. I sat at the bar and ordered the truffle burger on a gluten free bun. When I received it and took a bite I quickly realized the bun wasn’t gluten free. I politely asked my server if it was gluten free and she responded no and grabbed the plate. She didn’t seem concerned or to care at all. But I was ok with that. Then the back of the house manager(assuming) brought out the same burger I took a bite of with a gluten free bun. I ate the burger because I didn’t want to start anything and I thought it would be ok. I ended up having digestive issues. There was no sorry and no one even came to check to make sure I was ok. We paid the bill and still left a 18% tip. I understand times are tough right now and finding passionate employees can be hard at the moment. Unfortunately I believe this is unacceptable. So if you have any food allergies or sensitivities I would stay clear of this place. Unfortunately they really don’t do a great job of honoring those food restrictions.

very good southern style food! my husband had the chicken and waffles and loved it! i can’t have gluten so my options were more limited but had the cobb salad with salmon and it was delicious!! i was going to have the filet but this location was out the day we went, i assume it’s a popular item! the happy hour is fantastic, $5 cocktails and the appetizers are $6!

This is a very nice place to pop in and grab a bite. The gluten free pizza was very good and salad was nice and fresh which I really appreciate. Our waiter was kind and helpful and informative. They seemed to be fighting about the music somewhat - that was kind of interesting. The place seemed clean and everything came out speedy quick even on Valentine’s Day!!!

Lovely dinner seaside, listening to the waves. The meal was perfectly prepared and served. Plenty of gluten free and dairy free options for my wife. Many filling dishes that are lighter on calories. They are slow (30 minute wait for soup and tacos…and it wasn’t very busy), the girl taking orders doesn’t know how to talk to people and made ordering really awkward, and they made a mistake on my food.

Our server was fantastic but the gluten free food was not. With such a large menu, you’d think they would have a gluten free chicken main dish. They don’t. The gf four cheese pasta was mushy and grainy which may have been from they brand of gf pasta they use or overcooking. For the price point, they could get a better quality pasta and some simple gluten free options for those who eat poultry. I would save your money if you have dietary restrictions. For the amount you spend, the quality is low.

Came here after my find my gluten free app suggested that it was a highly safe place to eat. Just 3 people in my party (2 adults 1 child). My waiter didn’t seem like he was particularly interested in talking to the kitchen about my intolerances (dairy, soy, and gluten). He didn’t write anything down and I had to confirm with him twice that he remembered them. The people at the bar were excessively loud and rowdy. After 45 minutes they informed me they were out of shrimp (the appetizer I ordered). After 70 minutes since being seated the food still hadn’t arrived. After 80 minutes of waiting the appetizer for the other 2 at my table came out. After almost 90 minutes since being sat my salad came out. They got my daughters wrong. The chicken on my salad was ice cold. I guarantee my waiter didn’t tell the staff about my allergies. Overall a really awful experience after being hopeful that I’d get a good, safe meal.

I made a reservation for about 30 people for a surprise retirement party. The staff was very accommodating. They put us in a party room that had plenty of seating, stored my cake in the chiller, helped with the surprise, and let us all do separate checks. The staff was very friendly and helpful and made sure everyone got what they needed. The food and drinks were also delicious. They had a lot of gluten free, vegetarian, and keto options. It definitely made everyone’s experience a great one. I would definitely recommend this place for a party, or to just have lunch or dinner with a small group of friends! They are awesome!

We came on the day the surges hit for Ophelia and this was a hidden gem! Staff was amazing, and allowed our doggie to be with us... we came in for breakfast and then had to have their supper too and everything was great! I appreciated their gluten free and healthy menu! Very loud in here, great if you need noise to make your loud children less noticeable lol. Great nautical decor all over. Perfect for playing I spy with the kids while you wait for food. Good food, as always. (just pricey, but who isn't anymore !) It's been a while since we've been there. We were seated at our table with no menus but didn't really think about it...just assumed someone would bring one. Finally our server came for our drink order and we asked for a menu... turns out they assumed we knew to scan the QR code on the table for a menu... So, just a heads up, ask for a paper menu when you get there if you don't want to use your phone. Server was knowledgeable about gluten free, much appreciated.

Ordered the gluten free pasta with shrimp and scallops, was given the wrong pasta unknowingly. Began eating the seafood first when a male waiter who is not our server caught the mistake and told our waitress Sabrina that she gave me the wrong pasta. I had already been picking at the food and ate off it and then she came over with my new plate. I figured since I was already eating off this plate they were going to throw it away so I asked her if she could at least let me have some of the seafood I had already started on with my new plate and she could just take the pasta away. I thought it was reasonable request especially considering the significant error and I assumed they were just going to throw it away anyway. But she said she had to bring it back to the kitchen so they can make a new one. It is then I realized they were probably going to give that food to somebody else! After I already ate on the plate, there is no doubt in my mind. The portion has also become much smaller than I rememer. The bathrooms were disgusting, the dining area was very nice I would say five stars but then you walk into the bathroom and it's like a two-star place.

I am gluten free,while the menu doesn't have it listed the staff accommodated and confirmed choices on menu to make sure it was safe for me to eat. Nice big place with its own personality. High quality beef and fish. They don’t have vegetarian and vegan options, but they have gluten free. I give it four stars because the deserts weren’t as good as they sound, they were very basic and not much flavor involved and they need at least one dessert that has some kind of refreshing fresh fruit or berry to clean the palate.
