We didn't like the pizzas at all.
My girlfriend had the gluten-free version, I had the normal one.
Tomato sauce was bland, dough tasted like nothing and had a rather rubbery texture.
Service wasn't particularly friendly either. It's a shame actually

We stopped at Loja do Chá for a cup of coffee and tea with something tasty. You can sit here for a hot drink and a snack for a reasonable price. This nice shop also has a number of gluten-free pastries.
This cozy gem is a great lunch spot, offering delicious options, generous portions, and a fantastic vibe just off the main hustle.

Gluten free baguettes available for all the sandwiches but the fries are cooked in the same oil as the breaded chicken so be aware of this. The staff speak great English and are incredibly welcoming and friendly and can answer any concerns you may have with gluten / cross contamination. Highly recommend the chicken pesto baguette!
Located in a serene spot of Funchal, this gem offers a worldly menu, inviting ambiance, and vibrant flavors that'll keep you coming back for more!

Brilliant time visiting as a coeliac. They are hidden behind a little door, but go in, the atmosphere and decor is beautiful. The service was fantastic, as well as having a good understanding of being gluten free, they were very polite and kind. We had gluten free bread and dips, I had the stuff courgette, then chocolate mousse all gluten free. The waitress did say that all the items can be made gluten free if I wish to choose something that wasn't marked as gf. She also checked for any other allergies or preferences to things like herbs etc. The food itself was delicious and big portions. The local white wine was yummy too!

Beautiful little café along the trail system. Very kind service and they had gluten-free baked goods (banana bread and brownies), which is a hard find!!! My mom and I both have to eat gluten-free and we have had a very hard time finding gluten-free food in Portugal/madeira, so it was a very nice surprise to be able to eat something so good! My dad and sister do not have to eat gluten-free, and they said that it did not taste gluten-free to them and was very good. They also have bathrooms! You have to pay 0.5 euro to use the bathroom, and you can exchange money to get change in the cafe.

For lunch we ate at MadCuba and shared a plate of slow-cooked beef. The beef was deliciously tender and the rice was wonderfully fluffy. The dishes can all be prepared gluten-free, making this restaurant also suitable for those who follow a gluten-free diet.

The food and service are superb. They offer gluten free bread with the appetizer course. The staff is knowledgeable about allergens and were able to make gluten free recommendations. They have a gluten free brownie. Everything was tender and the wine pairings were perfect.

Delicious and authentic tasting Indian in Madeira! Service was great! Everything is well priced. They serve you pappadams when you first arrive with a range of condiments which all compliment each other well. We had the chicken tikka, brinjal (eggplant) and butter chicken. This was a great amount of food for 2 as servings are large!
Absolutely worth a visit if you want Indian in Madeira!
Great gluten free knowledge.

Found via the coffee trip app and as usual - it did not disappoint. A cute area with cool vibe and connected to an art shop/gallery.
Yummy macchiato and a gluten free cookie (which wasn’t too sweet!). Good service and a lovely place to read a few chapters of my book before getting back to the hustle of Funchal.
Diverse menu with plenty of vegan options makes for a chill vibe and a lovely dining experience without breaking the bank.

For a reasonable price you can enjoy delicious fresh and traditional Indian food at Buddha Tandoori. The restaurant has many gluten-free options due to the use of chickpea flour. You can taste that the dishes are prepared with fresh ingredients. The naan, which is not available gluten-free, was also very tasty.

Fala Fala is a very nice and amazing small restaurant, which is quite hidden, but worth to search for it. We (both vegan) enjoyed oriental Tortilla with fries (home made), Hummus with Tortilla and the Falafel with cream. Finally we had a gluten free sweet triangle as desert. Very good taste and super friendly staff. Prices are fair and we will come back for sure when we will be in Funchal next time.
Tucked away inside the NEXT hotel, this hidden gem offers a tranquil dining experience that's perfect for a relaxed evening out.

A little hard to find but it is in the NEXT hotel. You have to call the next hotel to make a reservation and then. Go in the hotels front entrance to get access to the restaurant. Overall a great dinner. Very lowkey and quiet. GREAT for accommodating to celiac and gluten free. I assume they would be great at other accommodations.
With fragrant spices in the air and a cozy vibe, this spot is perfect for anyone craving delightful Indian flavors and unique dishes.

On the plus side, gluten is indicated in the menu, and after the meal, a compliment is brought in the form of small pasteles de nata.
Of the minuses - rather strange service. Before I finished my order, the waiter had already turned to my companion, ignoring me twice.
Delicious tempura shrimp, but absolutely not tasty veal kebab. The meat looks like it was boiled and then browned on the grill. No spices, no salt. Very disappointed.
The atmosphere is great, I recommend booking a table in advance
Vibrant vibe with knowledgeable folks who ensure an enjoyable experience; definitely a must-visit for a memorable outing!

The service is wonderful! Unfortunately, the (gluten-free) food is not recommended. I have a gluten intolerance and was really disappointed with mine
Citizens. The “bread” was not recognizable as that and did not taste like it. My friend's traditional burger was okay, but nothing more.

100% recommended. We were looking to eat fish and typical Madeira food. Rodrigo's recommendations were a success, fantastic food and honest, well-prepared cuisine and many gluten-free options, which is worth repeating. We will return!
Very friendly atmosphere. Tight in the middle of Funchal downtown. Very adequate for a quick and healthy snack. Ample provision for vegetarian and vegan diets, but also some provision to other more eclectic diet, including gluten free!
The service is competitive but very friendly.

We ate here last night. The ambiance was so chilled and relaxed. The staff are very friendly and courteous and helpful. We had a large mixed selection of sashimi, sushi, nigiri etc and all freshly prepared and delicious.
I have an allergy to gluten and the staff were extremely helpful, making sure all the food was safe to eat. We had a delicious bottle of wine to accompany the food too. A VERY enjoyable meal indeed. We will return and would highly recommend this restaurant. Thanks to everyone for a pleasant evening.

Very good allergen labels on the menu for gluten, lactose and vegetarian. Lots of gluten-free and vegetarian tapas on offer 👍🏼
Especially the Piemontos de Padron look delicious! Prices are okay, around €6-7 per tapas
Enjoy stunning views from the rooftop while savoring dishes tailored to your preferences, making for a memorable dining experience.

A place with a great view, the staff did not speak English, the order was fulfilled after an hour of waiting, a different soup was served, it was supposed to be gluten-free, it was with croutons, the served was half-raw fish, it was not edible, the staff responded to the comments by offering to quickly provide the bill only after a clear request for contact The manager and I got a discount on the bill, but after spending 40 minutes waiting to be seated and another 1.5 hours in the restaurant, we left hungry and frustrated.
I definitely do not recommend it, the prices are like in an exclusive restaurant, the quality is a disaster.

We ended up in this restaurant by chance. Unassuming from the outside, but much better inside than expected! Highly motivated, careful and attentive staff. When ordering, they even asked if you had any allergies such as gluten intolerance. Something like this is not yet a given. Small but fine menu and very tasty, exceptional food. Not huge portions, but good value for money.
Genuinely lovely people there and food is fantastic. I'm a coeliac freak and they have a GF pasta option but risottos are to die for and gluten free naturally. Partner had a fabbo pizza first time and then really enjoyed lasagne second....different nights I hasten to add lest you think we are oinkers or Billy Bunter....and I had risottos. 4 cheese risotto was so creamy and tasty that I almost thought of running to Funchal and back to make room for another except I remembered in time I'm a crippled old man and would have died immediately.
Thoroughly recommend this little gem of a place and its lovely staff anytime and really great prices.

Great family dinner. We got the Picanha & the Chuleto. Their meat selection is great!
My personal favorite appetizer was the:
Picanha sando, dry aged picanha beef, brioche bread, roasted garlic mayonnaise and pickled onion
I dream about it. It was divine.
They are also very mindful of gluten and dairy allergies which was amazing. Great dinner!

Must visit place for dinner, vegan or not!
Huge thanks to Aurelia (hope I spelled it correctly) she made our evening truly memorable and amazing, with her warm and thoughtful service and a smile 🫶🏻🫶🏻
All dishes she recommended were just amazingly delicious and portions were very generous too. Burger was fresh and super juicy and lasagna tasted like my grandma made it with love ❤️
Cinnabon with pistachio ice cream was a cherry 🍒 on top. Mind that They have gluten free desserts as well, passion fruit cheesecake looked divine, but we were too full.
Special thanks for Kombucha, wow it was best I’ve tried on the island, you should consider selling it in bottles for take away.
It was our last night in Madeira and we wish we could come back again.
Thank you from all my heart for this wonderful experience 🙏🏼

really very good, nice atmosphere and good food. The shrimps as a starter were recommended to us and a good portion to share. Main course was a kind of skewer of sirlion steak, also recommended. In summary very good and the service is very friendly. My friend has a gluten allergy and they had no problems with it.

Wonderful meal in every way. Service was extremely professional and prompt, food was delicious, and it’s a very quiet, calm atmosphere. They were accommodating to a celiac diet including gluten free bread and were knowledgeable of what was safe or unsafe. We would come back again!

Maritime first for the food since I have gluten and lactose intolerance and they are not prepared at all, although I expressed it to the travel agency that it was for the community of Madrid. The bathrooms need urgent renovation, the pool is completely antigenic with black pieces of mold coming off the tiles. And right now on the street at 12:00 at night because there is a wedding under my room that is on the 2nd floor and the wedding is on the 1st floor and you cannot rest or be there. The food without variety, every day, for lunch and dinner purees or soups. The rooms can hear all the noises from one another, the only good thing is the mattress and the bed which is big. And they just told us that the wedding It ends at 1 in the morning, but we'll see. And my husband and I are in a park where it starts to rain. We've only been here for three days and we're coming for a week, we'll see what else can happen to us. Oh and today we went on an excursion and I couldn't eat anything other than salad because I couldn't eat what there was, and of course never gluten-free bread, only for breakfast, and I don't want to go into more detail about how we ended the vacation, now that they are being torture and a continuous annoyance because it is of no use to communicate medical problems.
Enjoy a lively atmosphere with outdoor seating, where good food and attentive service shine despite the busy vibe.

Food was nice, the service was good but very slow however the restaurant was full and not that many staff so it’s not their fault. When the food did arrive it was nice, and a good atmosphere with outside seating. Partner is gluten free and our waiter was helpful in assisting with this.
