this was one of my favorite places to eat while in japan. a quiet bar/restaurant in kyoto that has gluten free and vegetarian friendly options. the rice bread was incredible. the veggie curry and white miso strew was so delicious i still think about it to this day. wish i had spent more time in kyoto so i could have eaten here a second time.

We had been travelling in Japan for Several days, and the members of our party with coeliac was looking for a change. Tucked away on Miyajima, this small cafe is dedicated gluten free. The fried chicken was wonderful, and the curries smelled great. And then there were the donuts… It was just delightful to find such flavors one GF food, almost by accident.

Mouyan Curry is located in Kabukicho, Shinjuku. It's great to be able to eat gluten-free curry. I ordered the three-meat curry (beef tendon, pork, and dry). The two potatoes, fukujinzuke pickles, smoked pickled radish, and onion and rakkyo are all self-service and I was full.

We specifically visited this place so my coeliac partner could order off the menu. We were not disappointed, plenty of GF options and he said the pizza was delicious. We also tried a mix of the chicken wings and they were also delicious. We went quite early so were the only ones there. Marks down for service only because the welcome wasn't super warm and the American man who works or owns the place seemed quite frosty. The woman who served us was very pleasant and polite. I would recommend the food here ☺️

The most fun restaurant I have ever visited! It's basically a one-man band, with the owner doing pretty much everything: cooking, serving, cleaning and dealing with customers. The restaurant is a minimalist's nightmare, but it actually has its charm, with a lot of handmade decorations and jokes all over. The food was pretty tasty, with a fair variety of okonomiyaki, and there were plenty of gluten-free options, so it's good for celiacs. Prices were very reasonable for the quality of the food, and the experience. I'll definitely visit again when I'm in town.

About a year ago, I started to get stomach problems when I eat wheat. So I went looking for gluten-free restaurants, but many of them were gluten-free and also vegan, but I wanted to eat meat... I found a restaurant in Nara that could fulfill my wish! Of course, they also had gluten-free and vegan options. I had a hamburger on rice flour bread, and it was so nice and satisfying! (It was hard to eat, but that's probably how it is.) The price was quite high compared to regular cafes, but they seem to use carefully selected ingredients, and it's priceless to be able to eat a hamburger like this without getting an upset stomach! There was also a parking lot next to the restaurant. The rice flour scones I bought as a souvenir were also delicious. I'd like to go there if it was in my neighborhood. I'd like to eat there again if I go to Nara.

We were visiting Sapporo from New Zealand and found this GF Cafe online. We had the most wonderful breakfast and actually returned for lunch on the same day. The husband and wife who own and operate the Cafe are wonderful and amazing people. Be sure to visit even if you aren't Gluten Free .. the food is good. We look forward to seeing you again when we return to Sapporo in August or September next year (2026)

Awesome gluten free restaurant, and surprised to see many locals here too! Whole menu is gluten free so its easy to order, and the free hojicha on side is so refreshing. Was here the 2 days I was in Nagoya, they had queues on both days butit moved quickly -15 to 20min wait. This is the most versatile gluten free place I've been to in Japan, highly recommend!

A very reputable ramen restaurant in Sapporo committed to serving halal, vegan and gluten free options. All servings were large, filling, and very affordable. We recommend the tomato broth ramen with minced chicken. We are so grateful to the owner for being so kind and attentive to our needs, especially providing the English menu.

Simply lovely! I went there during my visit at Hakone and as a celiac this was the best hamburger I've ever had. Me and my brother had 2 Box Burgers, 1 french fries and 2 craft colas, it was all DELICIOUS! Even the place and the staff, who is made by all women, was superb. Great little tempura bar. We went all in with no regrets. Small salad to start, cucumber salad next (delicious sesame oil and sesame seeds), multiple types of seafood and vegetable tempura, cold noodles, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream with honey. The experience was great. Sitting at the bar, the owner/chef cooked a few pieces of tempura at a time so each piece was fresh and delicious, versus a whole plate that sits and get soggy (a typical tempura meal). The tempura was light and flakey, the vegetables fresh and the seafood just melted in your mouth (shrimp, squid, whitefish, scallop!, conger eel). Best part… all gluten free with much care for my dietary needs, but you’d have never known this was gluten free, it was that good (says the hubby who can eat gluten!)

Great tacos. Really good value and very fast. Many options are gluten free which is why I tried this place. Staff speak English. This place has a bar with 4-5 stools inside for dining in, and another two tables outside. They have a bigger restaurant about 5 minutes walk away with a bigger indoor dining area.

Good place to dine on Indian food. The day we arrived in Kanazawa at 8:00 p.m. it was the only thing that was open. They attended to us with detail and care. The food was good, the desserts were the best. They were very careful with gluten since I am celiac. Ordered two curries and my partner ordered some nan.

Please be aware. There’s a barley inside the rice. don't go there if you’re a celiac unless you want to eat only the curry without rice. We went there because it’s a gluten free curry. A staff said that you can eat only the curry without the rice. Because there’s barley inside their rice. So It’s not a gluten-free friendly restaurant 😅 I don’t understand why a. they advertise as a gluten-free curry restaurant if they cook rice with barley. This tells that they don’t know about a celiac disease. b. they can offer a plain white rice

Really loved this place! I’m a very sensitive coeliac but despite the small risk of cross contamination I was totally fine and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. I even ordered a dessert crepe afterwards seeing as the ice cream was gf too! Service was quick and the staff were lovely - I was informed that they had cleaned the plate they cook the crepes on but that they couldn’t guarantee it was safe - which was nice to see they understand the severity of coeliac and still try to accomodate! Safe to say it was well worth the slight risk

Located in a quiet residential area near Daikanyama, "Yama no Hitsuji" is a gluten-free & medicinal food cafe run by a medicinal food chef. It's a short walk from both Daikanyama and Ebisu stations, and is a hidden gem that suddenly appears in a residential area. There's a sign outside, so don't miss it; just walk in and you'll find the shop in a house one block away. The side dish plate (1,500 yen including tax, changes weekly) uses plenty of seasonal vegetables, and all of them are healthy and delicious. The attention to detail, such as black rice and gluten-free soy sauce, is outstanding. The food is served a little slowly, so it's best to go with plenty of time. The portions of the main meat dish are large, and even men will be full. The interior of the store is dotted with sheep motifs, and the mascot dog "Komugi" will greet you. He barks a lot (lol). You can also bring your pet. There are counter seats equipped with power outlets, and it is a relaxing space where time flows at a leisurely pace. This is a place that is recommended not only for health-conscious people, but also for those who want to restore their mind and body. Only cash is accepted, and electronic payments and cards are not accepted.

The staff were attentive and took my coeliac condition seriously, answering all my questions with care and to the best of their knowledge. A natural restaurant operated by THREE, a natural cosmetics brand that is particular about using organic and domestic ingredients. The concept is "MODERN SHOJIN" where you can enjoy modern healthy cuisine. I ordered ten grain rice veggie meat taco rice (gluten free, vegan) and plum and green tea tea soda. The taco rice is delicious and quick and filling♪ A healthy lunch is the best! The sophisticated gray-based interior of the store is also lovely.

Great Yakiniku reataurant! My partner have celiac disease and they mark in the meny if the dish is glutenfree or not. We ordered one dish with gluten and the chef noticed it and the waitress asked if we still wanted it (it was for me so it was fine) The food was great - Highly recommend this place!

Komekuma Cafe, located in Susukino-cho, Chuo-ku, Sagamihara-shi, Kanagawa Prefecture, is a truly "dream-like space" where you can enjoy sweets and breads made with rice flour. It has an unquestionable rating of 5 stars. Especially for me, who had temporarily refrained from wheat, this shop, which offers high-quality bread and cakes that do not use any wheat, was a place that healed both my mind and body. It is truly surprising that while it has the "heavy satisfaction" that is unique to rice flour, it does not make you feel heavy after eating and does not make you feel heavy the next day. It is satisfying to eat, but has a light aftertaste, and has a gentle taste that makes you want to eat it as much as you want. Among them, the "Oreo Cake", which is a reproduction of Oreo with rice flour, is exquisite and a masterpiece that you will want to repeat every time you visit. Seasonal limited menus are also available, so one of the fun things is that you will encounter something new every time you go. The interior of the store is clean and decorated with many polar bear motifs, making it a very cute space. The attention to detail is apparent in the atmosphere, and just being there will naturally make you smile. And above all, the greatest charm of this cafe is that you can really feel the owner's love for rice flour. Can’t rate this place high enough! The owner is anaphylactic to gluten and her daughter has an anaphylactic allergy, she takes allergies seriously! But the food!! 1000/10, so damn yummy. A great place to eat if you're visiting Himeji Castle. Celiacs are welcome: they have 100% gluten-free options. Both the skewers and the rice bowl with plain Kobe beef (no sauce, just salt and pepper) are gluten-free. My partner tried the burger with sauce, and it was also delicious.

It was delicious and I finished it. “202 Curry-do” is a soup curry and sweets shop that will open in December 2021. The owner of the shop, which quickly became popular, is Mr. Hori, who is from Hokkaido. A talented person who trained at a soup curry restaurant for 13 years. The location is on the 2nd floor of Seijo Ishii near the Shimokitazawa West Exit of the Inokashira Line. The interior of the store is decorated with houseplants and dried flowers, creating a modern and calm atmosphere. There are three types of self-serve water: pink mixed berry water, pale yellow lemon water, and regular water. There are two types of curry soups to choose from: rich tomato and dark coconut, and the spiciness ranges from 0 to 30. Rice is usually large, small, or absent. I would absolutely recommend this to other people who are gluten free / celiac. As a celiac I have eaten here twice and they are very helpful when making food that is gluten free. They have an allergy list on their menu which allows you to see all the dishes that are wheat free. Noting they do mention gluten as it is not a formal allergy in Japan. They do offer gluten free bread though! Additionally, they were able to provide meal substitutes - removing a certain sauce - to make it wheat / gluten free. However, do not worry as I have eaten here twice - October 2024 and April 2025 - and as a symptomatic celiac I have had no reaction to it. If you are vegetarian / vegan this may be quite hard to have a full meal here as most dishes involve meat of some sort.

Ordered the lunch buffet. It is a system where you can choose whether you want one serving, refills, or unlimited. This time I only had one refill. For curry, you can get one refill of spinach, spicy foods, and many salads from the main dish. Coffee and rooibos tea are all you can drink. Tandoori chicken is limited to 2 pieces per serving, so it's plump, super delicious, and addictive. The udon noodles are smooth and chewy, filling and delicious. The curry is gluten-free, low-calorie, and has a nice spicy sweetness. It was delicious with steamy skinned potatoes. Payment can be made in advance at the ticket vending machine and PayPal is also available.
