We went here earlier today 15/06/25 and it was really nice. Hubby is gluten free and most of the menu is coeliac friendly which is fab. Portions are good and a good selection on the menu - quite a lot of chilli so if you are not a fan choose wisely.
Staff lovely- we were served by Eileen who was very helpful and friendly and knowledgeable of any dietary requirements.
My only one issue is that it was really chilly - make sure you have a jumper/ jacket even if it is 18 degrees outside.
Thanks Pho- we will be back. Restuarants like this deserve return custom x

Lots of vegan, vegetarian, gluten free options marked in the menu. There were 4 people waiting for tables when we arrived, and we still were seated in 5mins. Pizza and salad combo makes a perfect light meal. Salad was as basic as it gets, but fine. Pizza was better than I expected - thin crust, well dressed.

We were in the neighborhood doing some shopping and one of the shoppes mentioned Côte. It was nearby and we walked in during a busy lunch time. The accommodated us very nicely considering we didn’t have a reservation. I adore French food but never get to go when dining with my daughter who is gluten and dairy free. However, they had so many items to choose from for her. The food was outstanding!!! Cannot wait to go back.

We went to celebrate my sister's graduation and the staff made sure to congratulate her which was a very nice touch!
We got a variety of pastas, pizzas, salads and sides. It was all fantastic, including the gluten free Caesar salad which my mum gave a 10/10. High praise.
I had the Pappardelle alla Norcina (Picture attached), which was lovely! I struggled to finish it as we also had garlic bread. My favourite part of the meal however was the focaccia we shared as a starter, which was warm, soft and had great flavour.
Would definitely give this place a go!

Howie's is an excellent choice for modern Scottish cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere without the hustle and bustle of the pun. Its dishes stand out for their flavor and presentation: from haggis to fresh fish, game meats, and traditional soups or the soup of the day. The restaurant has two main locations in Edinburgh: one on Victoria Street, more intimate and with historic charm, and another opposite a cemetery very close to the climb to Canton Hill.
The service is attentive and efficient, and the menu includes vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, as well as a good selection of wines and whiskeys. They also have clean bathrooms.
Improvements: The Victoria Street location has small spaces, with limited access for people with reduced mobility. In both cases, it's advisable to book or arrive very early.
In short, a highly recommended place for a tasty Scottish experience with good value.

Used Vittoria many times over the years in both locations. Enjoyed it every time but sadly today was well below previous standards.
We asked about gluten free for the starters as there was gluten free bread available and a quite a few of the starters were something with garlic bread so could they swap it. Told no the chef would t cut a slice just for that. Really poor standard. Why offer pizza and pasta gluten free mains but do nothing for starters and also dessert. You’ll find it’s either sorbet or gelato.
Meatball starter I was excited for but instead of the one large Polpette you used to get it was four small very average meatballs.
One main course was good the seafood tagliatelle is recommend that, the rucola salad side was a bit tiny for the price.
The other main course chicken and spinach risotto was another very average dish. This was a go to in the past and was much better on previous visits.
The raspberry sorbet dessert was nice after we had to remind them it was to come with a berry compote which they corrected to be fair.
Overall sadly very average for what used to be a highlight for Edinburgh.

I really enjoyed this place! Great pub vibes with seating for drinks or for dining. Friendly staff. Still get a lot of the ultra tourist crowd but also seemed like there was some locals there as well which is a good sign. Wife has celiacs so we went for dinner and drinks. Staff was knowledgeable, no separate fryer so couldn’t have the chips. Gluten free buns available (my wife says the gf bun was really tasty as well!). Jessie (not sure of the spelling; with the cool dyed red hair) provided excellent service; she was really on it with the allergens, being knowledgable of what alterations can be made to the dishes to make them gluten free for my gluten intolerant sister, making sure to bring out the gluten-free dishes directly to my sister amongst a very big order for a party for 8, and even proactively ensuring the gluten-containing wasabi was not put on the dish, when we didn't even know wasabi wasn't gluten free. And she was also just really lovely and friendly. We had a great time eating here and practically rolled out the door after our meal. Thanks!
