As a celiac girlie, idk if I would go here again. I didn't get a huge feeling of confidence that my food was handled with care. The restaurant is more of a burn & turn style brewery.
The bacon wrapped shrimp & triple sausage plates were amazing, I just can't speak to how safe they were.
They do not have a dedicated fryer.
They do have the Glutenberg GF beer and GF desserts. I didn't try any of the desserts though
Dedicated Gluten Free kitchen, and the food was delicious! Raspberry mojito was amazing. Alligator dip was so good with amazing baquette toast, hard to beleive it was gluten free, the texture of the baguette was amazing. The gumbo had perfect amount of spice. The chicken wings were the best. The fettucine had such great texture for a gluten free pasta, totally nailed it. Loved chatting with Chesa! The atmosphere, decor, music, waitstaff, food were all wonderful.
I am so happy we stopped here for dinner. The staff were knowledgeable and so kind to me when I told them of my gluten and dairy allergies. Service was amazing and the food was sublime. I missed eating Italian for fear of cross contamination but they reassured me pasta were cooked separately. What a lovely place! I will be revisiting when I'm back in town.
Edit: Forgot to add, my husband got an Amaretto sour and he said it was the BEST one he's had.
Food is excellent, lots of gluten free options suitable for someone with celiac. Service is great, but it's very loud and overly crowded. Tables are extremely close and people are often yelling at each other, which isn't how I like to brunch. If you go early it's not as bad.
Best airport food experience ever. I have celiac and as soon as I mentioned it they changed gloves and used new utensils to get food from new containers, which is above and beyond and so appreciated. Food is so good. Wish it was at every airport!!!!!
By owner: "We are a dedicated Gluten Free Kitchen! We cater to many food allergies. We are a scratch kitchen, so most dishes can be modified or adjusted. We look forward to serving you!"
I'm gluten free and they took my restriction very seriously and were so thoughtful and kind! There's gluten free pasta and plenty of dishes to choose from. Customer service was 10/10!!
I had pasta al limon with salmon ( gluten free) I chose zucchini as alternative for noodles, it was tasteless and the sauce is less dense like it's a soup unlike the picture, salmon is ok it wasn't burnt and good seasoned. Please correct it. My husband had a BBQ chicken it's good we like it.
Boka - A Good Dining Experience with Some Limitations
Boka, situated in Lincoln Park, is known for its upscale ambiance and innovative menu. While the experience was pleasant, it fell short of the high expectations often associated with this Chicago favorite.
Food & Menu:
The menu, crafted by Chef Lee Wolen, presents modern American cuisine with some creative touches, including a few vegetarian and gluten-free options. One of our friends is gluten-intolerant, and the restaurant was able to accommodate this seamlessly, which we appreciated. While the food was well-prepared and enjoyable, it didn’t leave a lasting impression—good but not remarkable for the price point.
Ambiance, Accessibility, & Family-Friendliness:
Boka’s chic and serene interior makes it an appealing spot for an adult night out, but it’s not particularly suited for families with kids. Accessibility is a downside, especially when it comes to the restrooms, which could be challenging for guests with mobility needs, even though they were spotless.
Service & Valet:
The service was attentive and courteous, adding to the refined experience. We also took advantage of the valet service, which was $17 and cash-only—something to keep in mind if you plan to drive. While I didn’t try the wine and can’t comment on the pairings, the cocktail and non-alcoholic options looked appealing.
Final Thoughts:
Boka is a solid choice for a special occasion or an upscale meal in Chicago, with an elegant ambiance and good, accommodating service. However, given the price point and reputation, it didn’t quite achieve the “wow” factor. If you’re looking for a memorable, top-tier culinary experience, other Chicago spots may leave a stronger impression.
First time eating here. They were great about handling my gluten allergy. The mushroom casserole was DELISH, the horseradish cream with the prime rib OUT OF THIS WORLD, yes it is thin sliced prime rib. I have NO IDEA why anyone is upset about this??? The meat is great quality, cooked to the perfect temperature, well seasoned (the only dish we had that WASNT over salted). It’s a generous serving- the two slices equal the same size hunk of beef I’ve enjoyed at any other steak-centric elevated pub type restaurant. It’s like a cooler version of RPM steak. My partner loved the sticky date cake for dessert, the brown butter ice cream was mid; only improved by the “hot” fudge (more lukewarm than hot in temperature). The ice cream didnt taste much like brownbutter at all. Would have appreciated the option for a salted caramel instead of only hot fudge.
The service was really quite good, if veering on too eager. Our server was kind, approachable, made a great surf and turf entree recommendation. The shrimp scampi (about 6 large two-bite shrimp in a buttery sauce; no noodles) alongside the prime rib, mushroom casserole and the wedge. She also offered to bring a sample of two pinots and a procesco for my partner try, which we would have never presumed to ask for.
My biggest complaint of every dish, except the prime rib, including the wedge salad were 2 notches too salty. I would have enjoyed it much more if I didnt feel slowly dehydrated by the sodium. A dry wine or soda water is a good idea to have on hand.
The place is quite large and noisy, leaning dangerously close to a cheesecake factory vibe, though it’s saved by the decor which is incredibly charming and homey with bespoke touches like a vintage linenkugel, very midwest, sign and what looks to be grandma-stitched, framed needlepoint roses.
We will definitely be back and look forward to sitting in a more secluded part of the restaurant.

Our family of 5 had the pleasure of dining at Bavette’s in Chicago last night. From the beginning they were very accommodating. Our server Steven was knowledgeable about the menu and even gave me gluten sensitive subs as requested. He was also kind when my son (8) hit his soda over by accident (we know this is annoying) this was important to us as our son already felt bad about it. His recommendation for the main lobster for our 10 yo son was spot on for what he wanted. The truffle Mac and cheese was a huge hit with everyone. Steaks came out perfectly cooked the entire way through - we ordered 3 different steaks with different requests. Highly recommend and if you get Stevens section I know you won’t be disappointed

I ordered gluten free pancakes, and when I went to tell them it was “a gluten allergy” (I have celiac disease) she didn’t understand. My boyfriend tried telling her and she replied by saying , “she ordered gluten free pancakes.” with no confirmation it was safe to order. She then proceeds to collect our menus and throw them on the table next to us??? The server was overall rude and snappy despite being nice when we walked in.
The taste of the pancakes wasn’t even worth the price or risking getting sick. I’m leaving this review right after leaving, so I have no idea yet if it’ll actually get me sick.
I REALLY wanted to love this place since it is so iconic. I’m so disappointed!!:(

There was a 2 hour wait to get into Au Cheval; and many people we talked to highly recommended we go there. They said it was an amazing burger, and we needed to try it out.
So... we waited our two hours and wandered other establishments, wondering what this burger would be like.
Firstly, hype is a dangerous thing, especially in the food industry, and when we were finally allowed to enter and eat we noticed that the menu was down to Earth and there wasn't anything too crazy or unique...
But.... I tell you what, it was a delicious hamburger, and the place reminded me of a nostalgic diner feel with a modern hipster take; it was highly enjoyable to be there and to just experience your meal with whoever you chose to share it with.
They took their food and their reputation very seriously; they paid attention to every detail, and they were highly aware of food allergies and how to navigate the menu for people with Gluten Allergies like myself.
The hamburger was delcious... complimented with their in-house "Dijonaise" sauce.
The coffee was amazing... but what made our experience even better was when my buddy asked for some real cream for his coffee.
Our waitress proceeded to go into the kitchen and to make a fresh blend of milk and cream to ensure that he could thoroughly enjoy his meal and coffee.
The food was tasty, the staff was great, and you could tell that everyone who worked there cared about the customer experience and the reputation of the restaurant.
Highly recommend you grab a bite when you can.
Allergy friendly options are available.
Food taste good, service is also good. The table where we were seat was kinda of small. Prices seem to be kind of high and they also charge you 20% upfront for the service. They don't offer gluten-free toast or pancakes.
I’m so happy we found a great Philly cheesesteak place!!! We’re definitely going to become regulars. I love that they have a gluten free bun option that can actually hold the sandwich together and not just crumble away like most gluten free breads do. The rocky is really great but the authentic is even better. The vegetarian option is really good too!
Everything about this restaurant was amazing, the atmosphere, the staff and the food. Our server Luis was awesome. The ham & cheese stuffed French toast was delicious as was the biscuits and gravy. They also had some great gluten-free options for my daughter. It was within walking distance to wrigley field so it worked perfectly for us to eat there prior to the game.
Anytime I'm down in the Wilmette area, I try to eat here. I have Celiac'sand even though they're not a designated facility, I never have issues. They have a fairly large gluten menu including pancakes and waffles. I had eggs, pancakes and bacon. All were very good. My friend who doesn't have dietary issues had their corned beef hash. She said it was delicious.
The visit was a mixed bag. It is nice they have a gluten free dedicated fryer for my wife's dietary needs. The help was friendly and inviting, and the food was tasty. Unfortunately, there were some issues with the order. We found the crispy cheddar curds had more vegetables than cheese curds and the portions were not consistent as our party of 4 had considerably less food than the party of 2 had next to us (served at the same time at the bar). We saw another order about 20 minutes later, and it was the same amount as our neighbors (a mound heaping over the bowl at the bar as well). We all ordered burgers, and my daughter's and my burgers were mixed up (fortunately we caught it before eating) and neither of us had the pickles as stated on the menu. Additionally, my burger was over cooked (previous reviews we saw heralded how cooking temperature was spot on). They did take it back, remade it, and it was fantastic. The menu is very limited (8 entrees) so one wouldn't expect the various mix ups. Is it worth a shot coming here again. Yes. The staff and food is good, so I will consider giving it another shot.
Extremely disappointed in our service on Mother's Day 2025.
Why the heck do they give their wait staff tables that are placed all over the restaurant is beyond me. They should be giving sections where tables are right next to each other. It's a little more work for hostess, but especially on a holiday everyone's sections would be full and evenly distributed. Service would be SO MUCH BETTER.
We had Kelsey, but rarely saw her. We were outside. 1/2 her fault 1/2 restaurants!! She had one other table on opposite side of patio, but she was rarely outside. She only got an 18% tip because of it. We kept asking other staff for stuff and twice they never relayed it to Kelsey. We would have ordered another drink round if we would have had better service. It took forever to get bill which delayed them from being able to sit people faster.
As for the food, I can only talk about mine. I had a grilled prime skirt steak CHOPPED salad which came as a WEDGE salad??? They were so busy they didn't have time to cut the lettuce up properly??? Wasn't it suppose to have bacon? I got wedge of lettuce, only 2 cherry tomatoes cut in half, and the steak. It took me forever to cut up the steak and lettuce. Then a little cup half full of dressing? I put my dressing on very light, but that was ridiculous. I was eating raw lettuce and steak. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED, don't think I'll go back to this location.
We also told the hostess we would need a gluten free menu which did not happen. My daughter is a wine member and she was also EXTREMELY disappointed.
This spot is amazing—had on my Google list for a while!!! They do no processed foods and have a separate menu for vegan/vegetarian/gluten free-win!
The meals ordered were super flavorful, filling and just the right portions! I loved the Vegan Fungi With Cauliflower hash—the addition of the cranberries and sweet potatoes was an added savory bonus!
My friend also loved the maple Turkey sausage and the pancakes- that were thin instead of fluffy! They loved it! We left pleasantly full and at peace!
Last but not least, we both loved our waiter who was super attentive and patient too! Will definitely come back and bring more people!
Went for lunch the other day. Amazing gluten free menu and staff so friendly. We arrived last hour they were open and I didn't feel rushed at all. Prices great and food was delicious!
My experience was great for the most part. The restaurant was spacious and comfortable; the atmosphere was lively and fun; the bathrooms were clean; and the food and cocktails were fantastic. I chose Wildfire because our friend has Celiac, so I wanted her to have gluten-free options. She was pleasantly surprised that their gluten-free menu was so long. She said she was used to only having a few choices. The server also offered her gluten-free bread. So if you or someone you know has Celiac disease, this restaurant is a great choice. Just about everything took longer to make it to our table than most restaurants I’ve been to within the last few years. It wasn’t a horrible wait, but it was noticeable. Because of this, our server wasn’t around much. There were several times when I wanted to ask our server about another appetizer or another drink, but she never came by. That’s the only reason I took off one star—that, and the sneaky 3% they add to the check to offset costs. Yes, you can ask them to remove it, but it’s not like this restaurant is super cheap anyway. Why not add the 3% to the food in general if you’re struggling as a business? Regardless, I would definitely return.
Gluten Free Goodness after a show at the RIV! Sorry I was so hungry I forgot to take pics. They altered the brussels sprouts to make them gluten-free and they were amazing! I got three tacos: a chicken, steak, and duck. I ate the duck first because not everyone does duck very well and I didn’t want to end with it, however, I should have because the duck was the best of the three. The chicken was my second favorite, and I could have done without the steak… It was too well done and not much flavor. However, my friend did get a steak and that looked fabulous. The service was great, and the ambience was dark and charming.
My bridal shower here was nothing short of perfect! From the gorgeous mimosa bar to the amazing selection of gluten-free brunch options, everything was absolutely spot on. The staff was so accommodating, making sure everything went smoothly. We had about 35 people and took over the main dining space, which was just the right size—spacious yet intimate. The whole vibe was warm and inviting, making it the perfect setting to celebrate with my favorite people. I couldn’t have asked for a better day!
Awesome experience. AND my wife (for the first time in I don't even know how many years) was able to order French onion soup! They have a gluten free version! She said it was amazing.
Go see Amanda!!!!! She was our server in the bar!!!! Amanda was attentive and detailed and laughed with us even though she was busy. We had the best birthday celebration ever. I never eat desert ever. Amanda recommended this berry crumble with ice cream gluten free! We gobbled it up! Best desert ever. I had no idea Wildfire even had such a thing! Thanks Amanda! You are a gift to those who meet you!!!! Naturally we were there for the killer chicken chopped salads!!!
My sister has celiac and hasn’t had fried chicken in over 20 years. She ordered it and was absolutely blown away at how delicious it was. The executive chef came to our table to ask how the meal was for her. The manager spoke with us and was very friendly attentive. She sent us a gluten free dessert to enjoy. This was one of the most enjoyable meals and experience we have ever had. The staff are exceptional.
So many Gluten-free options.. The Gourmet Burgers with Gluten-free Buns are a must.. full of flavor bun has a great texture.. Gluten free Fries and many other options
