Some of the best vegan sweets I've had. The donuts are phenomenal and the gluten free brownies are particularly amazing. Highly recommend for vegan and gluten-free desserts if you're in the area!
Always looked like a fun place when I drove by and finally went a few weeks ago with friends for dinner. It was amazing. Our waitress, Brenda, was incredibly kind and helpful. She talked us through the menu and made great recommendations. We all ended up getting the grilled arepa llanera- a delicious combo of avocado, steak and cheese with a sauce. We also tried different sides- I had the tequenos which were sooo good. For beverages - they had a great happy hour and we got $7 blackberry sangria that was a perfect addition. I think we all enjoyed it. But I will say our overall favorite was their green garlic sauce. They need to bottle it- its that good! Also- almost EVERYTHING was gluten free!
Overall it was a great experience. Will definitely go again!
I was really excited to try this spot and was a little disappointed. Great and extensive menu with gluten-free, vegan, and healthy options.
I ordered the pancake combo, and my pancakes were undercooked. They were perfectly brown on the outside, but the inside wasn't cooked through enough.
My server was friendly and the restaurants decor matches it's name.
Loved the food here! We ordered the Green Goddess toast and a smoothie bowl, and both tasted great. I’m gluten-sensitive, so it was refreshing to have so many options to chose from. I highly recommend!
I thought it was weird that the check in staff made us wait until exactly our 7:00 reservation to seat us when we had gotten there a bit early (12 minutes) considering there were several booths in the bar open which is what we requested. Kayla was our waitress and since we had been there mutliple times, we knew exactly what we wanted and gave her our drink and dinner order at the same time. After 40 minutes of sitting there without bread or our wine, while I sat and saw our wine sitting up on the end of the bar, and I saw other tables who had been sat after us receiving their bread and wine, I got a litttle annoyed. After 45 minutes, our dinner finally came out before our bread - ridiculous. Kayla got very snippy with me tellling me the kitchen was backed up and she was doing her best - in a bitchy tone - which I thought was clearly an excuse as I saw other wait staff having no problem bringing wine and bread to their tables. She got my son's dinner order wrong and then she decided to completely ignore us- literally she never came back to our table! After I went up to the front desk twice over a period of 15 minutes to ask them to send our server to the table, a manager finally intervened. Dana (manager) was very gracious and apologetic and offered to remove the bill totally which was nice but I refused. I don't have a problem paying for my food but I do have a problem being chastised by my wait staff for asking for simple courtesy. Dana did give us two free dinner entree and wine cards for a future use which I thought was a lovely gesture. We go to CH a lot and have a membership but I think this might just be the end of that. One reason we like it so much is their gluten free options and their bread, but honestly, what was supposed to be a nice birthday celebration for my adult children turned into a fiasco because of a childish, immature waitress. Kayla ranks right up there as the WORST waitress I have ever experienced in any establishment!
Early 4:30 PM dinner on 5/2/25.
* Note: You can use the public parking lot across the street for $6 an hour vs the valet at the restaurant. I don't want kids driving my vehicle.
We have been coming to Virginia Beach off/on for 24 years and dining at Waterman's each trip. 3 years since our last visit. Walk in. No reservation. Seated promptly inside as requested. Our standard order for two orange crushes placed. These crushes had very little actual orange taste and more ice than drink. $9.25 each. We have the drink recipe from Waterman's and make them at home regularly with the original Burnett's orange vodka. These crushes were made with the new Waterman's orange branded vodka. Didn't order any more.
My wife's salmon salad and crab cake were very good. My lobster tail and sides were also good. A lot of flies inside the restaurant detracted from the meal.
*Note this review was completed without using ridiculous un-discriptive terms like out-of-bounds, OMG, on point, awesome, the bomb, yummy, delish, to die for, do yourself a favor, trust me, flavorful, or kids emojis etc.. Describe the food, service (or lack of) and provide details on the cost/copy of check and include pictures! Is the place clean? No disrespect to the employees, but no one cares about the waiter/waitress/clerk names, or if they look like they fell face first into a tackle box. They get changed like underwear and you don't get to pick one. We don't care about your allergies, vibes, how "chill" you feel, or the need for gluten free food.

Great diner, excellent service, amazing menu and good portions. Living in VB I prefer it outside of the tourist season but if you get there early enough (before 9) you can get seated.
Any omelette can be served in a wrap and they serve a superb breakfast gyro wrap if you like tzatziki and feta! Wide ranging menu for all and great gluten free pancakes, buns or waffles.
We go about 10-12 times a year and have yet to be disappointed.
This has been our family spot for years when we come for family vacation. It’s 9 times out of 10 a great experience. Some good things. They have great gluten free options. Their orange crushes are the best. And the prices are deff reasonable. Some not so good things. Caution if you sit outside when there is live music, you can’t hear each other talk and will have to yell. Some of their dishes lack flavor. Their peel and eat shrimp are almost inedible due to not being deveined and hard to clean out yourself.
It’s super small and can get crowded quickly, but the coffee is wonderful and worth it! Also, they had a variety of different sweet breads that were gluten free and paleo, so that was a pleasant surprise!
My family had a really wonderful experience. We were a large party celebrating a birthday and everything was great. From the food to the service to the atmosphere. We're looking forward to returning for our next special event.
Oh and every dish that was ordered was delicious. We had a mixed group of vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, and omnivore and everyone was happy with their meal.
Can for lunch, kitchen was running behind. But the food and dessert were worth the wait. Ordered soup and salad. Kitchen was so backed up it took 2 hours for lunch. Had to take our gluten free dessert for later as we had plans for the day.

My first time here! Having celiac disease makes it very difficult to eat out. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about everything. Our food was top notch and even pointed out the spiced mustard was not gluten free. I never eat a full dish and I cleared my plate. I believe our server was Alainna! We definitely will recommend and spread the word! Thank you for a great evening!
very good southern style food! my husband had the chicken and waffles and loved it! i can’t have gluten so my options were more limited but had the cobb salad with salmon and it was delicious!! i was going to have the filet but this location was out the day we went, i assume it’s a popular item! the happy hour is fantastic, $5 cocktails and the appetizers are $6!
Excellent pizza and fast and friendly service.
My wife has a gluten allergy and she ordered their gluten free pizza and loved it.
I would highly recommend this place.
My Sister and I stopped in for lunch. They were pretty busy, which made parking interesting, and we chose available seating at the bar. The wait to get our food was a little long -- I'm sure, based on how busy they were. We shared the Hunter Burger and Beet Salad. My Sister also got the sweet potato biscuit with ham to go. The food was all excellent and the service was great. Cool little eccentric decor. Sitting at the bar also provided us an opportunity to chat with other patrons. And, they have a bakery next door with lots of goodies, including Gluten-free offerings. Definitely recommend.
All around a great place for coffee and breakfast. They have gluten free options. The staff is very inviting and friendly. We look forward to daily visits while on our vacations to the area.
I had an amazing experience at Sage - the food was absolutely delicious and the staff were very helpful. I have a severe gluten allergy and Rayley was able to help me navigate through which items the menu were good and safe from cross-contamination. Very happy with the service and food here, and will be returning.
I was so excited to see all the options for vegans! Whether you are health conscious desiring gluten free options or just want some vegan comfort food, they have it here at Honest Pastures! Thank you for creatively offering vegan choices for Hampton Roads
My Husband and I go to Rudee's each year after the VA BEACH BOAT SHOW. I now have to Gluten Free and was afraid there wouldn't be much I'd eat there now...I am beyond thankful to see ALL THE GF ITEMS!! THANKS SO MUCH FOR SUCH A BIG GF MENU!!!! CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!
Visiting VB, and I tried a few places that offered vegan and gluten-free food. This place was by far the best. The gluten-free vegan waffles with berries were amazing. The hint of lavender and coconut whipped cream took it up a notch. I also got a wrap which was also very tasty. And blueberry Lemonade was a little too tart for my liking but it was refreshing. Highly recommend this place.
So...let's talk about the good stuff. This is a really cool place. The old house turned restaurant has tons of spaces for serving guests and it holds a lot of charm. The food was really decent, a whole lot better than the breakfast we had near the boardwalk for the same price. We're talking omelets made with wholesome fresh ingredients and pancakes that look like the real deal (we are pancake connoisseurs and most places can't make a proper one). The breakfast potatoes were a nice rendition although some were overcooked and dry, and my omelet was also on the dry side. My companion reported that was the best sausage he's had in a restaurant, so high praise. Our server was efficient and wonderful. The food came out fast...way faster than I would have expected. I'm sorry I couldn't try a biscuit (it's in the name and all) but I'm gluten free.
Now, the negatives. We almost punted on the whole experience after being confronted with valet parking. You heard me. They want to valet park your car for a restaurant with a whole lot of parking. Granted, the lots are gravel, with no defined spaces, and I'm sure patrons could make a mess out of it in this day and age of self-centered ignorance. But really?
Then you're greeted by rules. 1) How much they're going to automatically tack on to your bill (which they actually didn't, which is smart, since I tipped better than the mandatory 18%). 2) That you agree to not stay over 90 minutes. Sorry, but that's just rude. How many people would actually stay beyond that, if that? It's not even worth mentioning because it's off-putting. 3) I've already forgotten it...but providing all these barriers before you've even been seated is a massive turn-off.
The place was packed, and the reviews obviously show people enjoy the food. Glad we tried it, but strong recommend the owner/s review their policies so patrons feel welcomed.
Enjoy a solid brunch here! There’s many good food choices. Seating can accommodate small and large parties. Eggs Benedict are creative and worth a try! Big fan of the carnitas hash. One item is explicitly listed as gluten free, but there are many items that can be modified to support that dietary restriction.
The kids menu has breakfast and lunch varieties. It’s inexpensive between $5-7. A drink is not included. Apple juice cup is an additional $3. My non-eater child happily ate his grilled cheese with fries.
Enjoy a single mimosa for $4. That’s a win! The boozy coffee drinks are solid brunch drink choices.
Customer service is great. The staff was friendly and chatted with my child. Overall, good place to enjoy brunch.
Last night in VA Beach and we had a fantastic dinner at Becca with Shy as our fabulous server. Amazing accommodations for gluten free (bread with honey butter!). Cocktails were creative and delicious!
This is a great place to visit for something new and delish! VERY gluten free friendly! The service was great (especially with all my questions). The food was so good! Try the chai! Lovely interior and great folks on service.
I want to start off by saying that the restaurant is beautiful. It overlooks the ocean and it is a very nice set up. The problem lies in the fact that we have celiac disease, and we’re told by the staff, waiter and even the chef that came out to speak to us at our request, that are food would be gluten-free and safe for celiacs. Once food started coming out, problems began. We were told that our appetizer was gluten-free initially, but once delivered we were told it was not. When we asked to get some clarification from the kitchen, he came back (holding bread over it for another table) and said that it was gluten-free (Very confusing). We ate it trusting him, but looking back, probably should’ve just not had that appetizer. When our meals came out, we ordered a cauliflower gluten-free crust that the chef had promised was going to take extra care and put it on a separate tray in the oven, to be extra safe. Not only did it take 45 minutes to an hour for the food to come out, but our Pizza was a normal crust, not the gluten-free cauliflower crust that he had promised us. There again, I felt very skeptical at our food choices, and the service that evening in the kitchen. Speaking about wait time, It was absolutely ridiculous. We had three children with us one a toddler and never expected to wait over 45 minutes for our main dishes to come out. We normally expect a longer way time due to the gluten-free aspect of our dining, but this was 45 minutes of silence from the server. Never coming around to check us, bringing us water, forgetting to bring my husbands drink for about 20 minutes or even bringing us plates to eat off of. I do feel that he was rushing around, and I felt bad for the wait staff because it seemed under staffed. Despite his effort, it was just a disappointing experience. To top it completely off, my husband and I have been sick all night and well into the morning. Not fun and despite the positive, I would never recommend this place to anyone with an allergy ever. Not worth the risk.
My husband and I really enjoyed the brewery. The hazy IPA and burgers were delicious! And bonus points for them as they have various items that are gluten free.
Food is good and a lot of vegetarian and gluten free options. Just don’t come here for the service. They are slow (30 minute wait for soup and tacos…and it wasn’t very busy), the girl taking orders doesn’t know how to talk to people and made ordering really awkward, and they made a mistake on my food.
Wonderful stop for breakfast. My sister has celiac’s and not only did Norah, our server, take extra care to make sure she was taken care of, but the manager came to our table and said he’d make sure the kitchen staff changed gloves and were super careful handling her food. We found out later that the manager actually prepared her food himself. It was a fabulous experience and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for delicious food served by wonderful, caring staff.
Always a great meal! So grateful that they have gluten free options! Their gluten free pizza is probably the best in town! Our family loves doing take out from here! Love this place!
Our server was fantastic but the gluten free food was not. With such a large menu, you’d think they would have a gluten free chicken main dish. They don’t. The gf four cheese pasta was mushy and grainy which may have been from they brand of gf pasta they use or overcooking. For the price point, they could get a better quality pasta and some simple gluten free options for those who eat poultry. I would save your money if you have dietary restrictions. For the amount you spend, the quality is low.
Summary: Nicole was funny and friendly! Food was delicious (and had gluten free sandwich bread) prices were very decent for our large party. Sit by a window if you need extra light to read menu.
We came in as a party of 5 of visitors (Army base nearby). Nicole waited on us and she was SUPER friendly and knowledgeable on all the menu items. She was patient and quickly brought our food out despite the lunch rush (which the food was delicious and had good portion sizes by the way). The shakes were amazing and I was pleasantly surprised by the gluten free bread substitute on my Reuben.
The atmosphere was cozy, but we went on a day that didn't have a lot of natural light so I recommend if your party needs more light to see the menu, perhaps sit near a window. Otherwise, we had a wonderful time and the high reviews here aren't kidding!
1st time back in 3 years. Not busy on a Saturday morning. Disappointed to say the least. Seated promptly. Order taken. Downhill from there.
2 waters and a large OJ. We only got one water. My wife's corn beef hash looked like dark brown dog food and was so salty it was inedible. The 2 over easy eggs were to be served on a separate plate (shows that on the receipt) but it came with 3 eggs on the main plate and a single piece of toast. Her potatoes were ok. My "Locals Favorite" arrived with one piece of paper thin bacon vs the 2 stated. The over easy eggs were cooked correctly. The pancakes were ok at best and small. We got the order un-screwed with the waitress (note: she doesn't cook or serve the food). If this is where the locals eat, I would find another place.

Food, service and atmosphere were great but coffee:( avocado tost👍 Napoleon and gluten free option what we liked. We ordered 2 Americanos but they weren’t same taste:( brewing problem of barista:(((
Food was ok but very dinner like. They only offer gluten free bread substitute. No pancakes, no bagel, and waffle options. Amazing service and very clean though!
