Bamboo Sushi is hands down one of my favorite spots in the city, their great food, service and atmosphere is pretty consistent.
Also as a GLUTEN FREE girly I love feeling so safe and comfortable with the menu!
The gluten-free pizza is one of the best I have ever had! So glad to find this place when my husband and I were in the area for a convention. Thank you!
Gluten free fried mozzarella. Was insane. Never would have guessed it was gf if the menu didn’t say it. Chicken parm and bolognese were top notch as well
Atmosphere is nice. Service was lovely. Food was not great. Both the gluten free pasta I had and the spaghetti that my husband had tasted bland like something you’d get from a jar and throw together at home when you didn’t feel like cooking. Salad was good though. Disappointed with the cost for what we actually got.

We had a 4 course dinner for 3. On the first course I wish there had been more cheese. We ran out quickly for the first course. It was very good(Wisconsin cheese).
The salad was fresh but kind of plain.
We enjoyed the broth and meats.
The dessert was very good. We had the chocolate, caramel and pecans sauce.
The waitress forgot our utensils, so we had to wait to get her attention. But they were great about substituting food items for my sons gluten allergy.
The booth we were seated in , had uncomfortable seats. I felt like I was falling into the seats all night. Maybe invest in new cushions?
But overall a good experience . I’d eat here again.
I planned a delightful surprise for my wife's birthday weekend by making reservations at this incredible spot! Considering her gluten intolerance and her love for sushi, it was the perfect choice—plus, it was just a short stroll from our hotel. The menu was not only extensive but bursting with flavor, offering something for every palate. The atmosphere was vibrant and inviting, truly enhancing our dining experience. Overall, we had an amazing time with top-notch service that made the evening unforgettable!
Nestled in the first floor of the Embassy Suites in downtown Portland, this very active hub has a lot to live up to. Serving great food and spirits with quality one would expect at much higher end establishments.
It's very active and lively, so not the best option for a quiet experience, but fantastic if you want some of the highest quality for a surprisingly low cost. I ordered the frittata with potatoes, that came with a choice of toast. I requested gluten free bread, a side of sausage, and an Irish pick me up, (Irish coffee with an extra kick of espresso). All of which exceeded my expectations. I'm glad I stopped in, and I'm sure you will be too. However, expect a short wait as I'm not the only one that feels so highly of this spot.
Phenomenal food and service. All vegan options with consideration for those who need gluten food as well. A perfect place to satisfy that 'diner' itch without the ambient sausage/bacon stank
We met here with out of town friends on April 30, 2024; three of us are from Hawaiʻi, so it was the perfect place to meet. The food was wonderful! I had the guava chicken, which was broke da mouth, and my friend had the teriyaki ahi, which she said was perfect and was so happy that all of their shoyu is gluten free. Hubby had the Sweet & Sour Veggie Stir Fry, which he really liked. We were so busy talking that I forget what my other friend had! He pronounced it delicious. The mac salad was fantastic!
Our server was outstanding! (I wish I knew his name.) He made sure we were well taken care of, was friendly and helpful, and made us feel extremely welcome. Highest praise to him; he's a real asset to the restaurant.
We were there for two hours, and had so much to catch up on, but our server never rushed us. He took photos for us at our request, and did a great job with that, too.
If I could give more than five stars, I would. Everything about our time there was terrific!
EDIT / UPDATE:
The general manager reached out to me immediately to figure out what happened, which I really appreciated. We figured out that their online POS system had a flaw that made effective order communication difficult (specifically when editing an order before checking out). They are diligently looking into the issue to get it resolved, and offered to refund me the amount for the item I ordered that came as a burrito instead of a bowl. My experience now has been improved drastically thanks to their commitment to improvement and customer satisfaction. Thank you again for resolving this so quickly and effectively, JoLa!
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
I want to give this place a higher rating but I’m a little frustrated with their online ordering experience.
I did my best to pick certain options when editing each item in the online ordering section, but some of my choices apparently did not save correctly (as my receipt reflects a different choice than I actually made — and I triple checked my choices). For example, I asked for one of the items as a bowl instead of a burrito (which is an option they offer). In the receipt though, it says I chose a burrito. I even wrote a note in the “note to restaurant” section when ordering to ensure that it went through correctly (I wrote to them that I chose this particular dish as a bowl, not a burrito, as I try to limit my gluten intake otherwise I get sick). I also chose to add sausage and I got bacon.
So while it seems that their online ordering platform may be to blame, I did preface my preference for the bowl versus burrito and it shows up on the receipt, yet they neglected to pay attention to it. It’s disappointing.
The food is good though. I’d give that 4 stars. Would love for this to be resolved.
Outstanding. The food, the drinks, the service- all excellent. There are so many great restaurants in Portland, this one stands out. I have celiac, I felt so taken care of. Friends of ours introduced us to Lechon today, we will go back.
What a great experience. Family of six and we were all so well taken care of. I have severe dairy and gluten allergies and they checked and double checked any of my food choices. They were friendly m, considerate and very attentive to our entire family.
Lydia was our server tonight and she took such great care of us, we felt like we were her own kids the way we were chatting it up tonight. She is so personable and fun.
The food was spectacular! Nearly everything on this menu is actually gluten free and I was unafraid to eat 90% of this menu! Gorgeous restaurant and actually used to be a speakeasy within the area.
Expand your pallet and give the Lebanese tour a chance, it’s a little bit of everything and really gives you the chance to taste it all. Really was the perfect meal for two to share and fills you up. Make sure to mention if you do have a gluten allergy as they can provide you with pita chips so you’re still included in having a dipping item for all the great sauces you will endure.
Definitely will be back.

This place is great. I think if I didn't have to be gluten free it would be amazing. Since I am, I'm saying it was good/great. (Wish they had Tamari!)
Beautiful restaurant interior. I don't love having to stand in line to order as sometimes the lines are really long but maybe it's different now that things are more open post pandemic.
The outdoor booths are cute but I haven't sat in them yet.
Drinks are excellent too!!
some of the nicest people and they actually care about your allergens. my partner prefers gluten free items and the person working the front was always so kind and went to look at their booklet that could confirm to her if the food item was GF.
Food was great, and the place was clean. What more could you want?
The woman working at the front was super nice and helpful (I sadly missed her name) and she had great recommendations. My friend and I got the beet salad with ricotta and kids mac and cheese and both was really yummy. They also have gluten free and dairy free options. Parking can be a bit tricky, as it is a very busy area, but very relaxed and nice spot. Will definitely come back and try more different dishes!
I had a fantastic lunch here over the weekend! I have celiac, and was delighted to learn that everything on the menu except the pita and the baklava was gluten free. We tried the falafel rice platter and the hummus with veggies instead of pita. Both were delicious and so flavorful! The owner was really friendly as well. I look forward to coming back!
This is a great little spot. Wanted pizza and they advertise their gluten free crust is made in house, so we gave them a try. Great pizza, great GF crust. Definitely recommend.
The beers are also very good, but this is Portland so getting good beer somewhere is nearly the default setting, IMHO.
The TV was set to a reality show, which wasn't really great for dinner, but other than that was a fine evening out.
I'd give more stars if I could! The staff was very kind, the restaurant was cute, and the food was absolutely incredible. I have celiac disease but there were tons of gluten free options (the gf pita was divine). I also accidentally left my phone in the booth after dinner, but they went out of their way to catch up to me and make sure I didn't leave it behind. A wonderful experience and I will definitely be back.
Amazing sandwiches every time!! Crispy bread, delicious combos, and super quick.
It’s a lot more cost effective to select one of their curated sandwiches than building your own.
I’ve tried their gluten free bread before and it was so good that I had to double check with them that it was indeed gluten free 😃
The food at this restaurant is better than a popular competitor and also more reasonably priced. The broth is flavorful and comes with plenty of onions, green onions, and cilantro. The spring rolls are large and always fresh, with gluten-free dipping sauces available. They offer free and unlimited cool water and hot tea. My favorite lunch hack is ordering a side of broth and a spring roll for less than $10. The service is fast, the restaurant is clean and stylish, and the staff are very kind.
The food was great! They have gluten free options! The price for dinner was great with plenty of leftover food. The garlic sauce is legit. Be prepared for death breath.
The waiter was beyond knowledgeable, turns out he was the owner. Food great. The menu could use more vegan and gluten-free options. The drinks are amazing. Great experience for our group!
This was a little hard to find using Google maps, you have to go inside the bancorps building to find it. Everything on the menu is gluten free except the burrito. Everything is vegan. I had the amazbowl for breakfast. It was a perfect departure from the fried food I had been eating in my work trip. The chef also checked on me several times to make sure I didn't need anything. Would definitely go back!
Also, the owner game me a free piece of cheesecake as I was leaving 😁
Love this location. Very friendly staff, great food (as always at RC) and the ambiance is lively and upbeat. It's not a quiet spot, but no problem having a conversation. The gluten free menu has plenty of options, but a couple more desserts would be nice! We always enjoy our meal at Ruth's Chris and tonight's was no exception!
The gluten free pizza is white cardboard, terrible, everyone at the table hated it and it is way overpriced and worse than frozen pizza. *Update 2025... still sucks so bad. Was unfortunate enough to hang out with friends who ordered GF pizza from them.. still rubbery and gross with close to zero toppings.
Great food and the friendliest staff and owner. Recommend it to everyone and is often our go to meal. Great option for gluten free, or dairy free individuals.
Amazing place! I have celiac disease and they were so accommodating. My family loved the food too! They have a lot of great gluten free options and the servers are so knowledgeable about the dishes! They even have a separate gluten free menu. Highly recommend for safely, quality, knowledge, and available options!
Such a great hidden gem!! Huge portions and high quality food with great flavor. They also adjusted the spice level perfectly for my wimpy taste buds, but my partner got the heat they were looking for too. The menu is labeled gluten-free, which was a great comfort for my partner's Celiac disease as well.
But even better, they have kind staff and unexpectedly good service, especially for a place where you order on a touch screen and only have contact with a human to pick up your food. I had a minor complaint about the taste of the pineapple in my fried rice, and with no questions, they immediately made me a new one with new pineapple and told me to take both portions home. Then, two different employees came out to make sure the second round of pineapple was better, and even offered to make me a third one 😂 we will definitely be back!!
We used to love Little River Cafe. It was great place for a decent lunch on our way into town. Husband would get the BLT and I would get the Salmon Salad as I can't eat gluten and that was my only option. The last time we went my salmon was undercooked. The owner was there and remedied it immediately. I know food, and I know when salmon is undercooked. We went there last Sunday for lunch and it is likely the last time we'll go. I know we're all struggling and trying to save money but offering only disposable cups for water was the first disappointment. They used to, at the very least, have washable plastic cups. This is not why I'm writing this review. Every item in my salmon salad was old or, literally rotting. The apple slices were dry and tasteless. The salmon was dry. The avocado was rotting and sure tasted like it. The lettuce, all of it, was rotting. You know when oak leaf turns black and slimy when it's old? That was my whole plate. It was disgusting. It is NEVER OK to serve anyone rotting food. They were busy and the owner was no where in sight and frankly I didn't think the kid behind the counter would give a shit (if you ever watch Gilmore Girls think Brennen in Luke's Diner). So we left. And, sadly, we won't be going back.
Stopped in on a busy First Friday, and was thrilled to see they offered gluten-free buns as an option. The manager Haley was super sweet and helping everyone out. Looking forward to eating there again soon!
AMAZING dinner! We had someone in our group that was Dairy, Gluten AND Soy intolerant. The head chef came out and personally suggested items on the menu.
They were amazing, food was amazing, service was amazing!
Everything on the menu is clearly marked gluten free, they even mark the teriyaki sauce. I ordered macaroni salad for my partner and they packaged it separately in a plastic tub AND wrote “gf” on my box… There were so many other green flags with how the food was cooked and prepared, I so so appreciated how easy and “normal” it felt to order something allergen friendly :)
I saw this place pop up in Instagram and was excited to try it. The food was decent.. not amazing .. not terrible... just ok. Very oily.
The staff were terrible! They were rude and showed no impatient answering the few questions I had. My friend can not rat gluten and the waitress couldn't put forth any effort to help her narrow down the dish selection. Then when they brought the food out they did it one dish at a time 5 min apart. Keep in mind this is lunch so we are trying to eat and get back to work. When they brought the food to the table they would only put it infront of my friend. It was if I wasn't even sitting there. The list could go on but in a nut shell. I will never return.
Came for New Year’s Eve and it was very delicious. Even though the restaurant was crowded and the restaurant got behind on reservations, the three at the hostess stand were well organized and efficient. Kudos to them!
The steelhead and the crème brûlée were my favorite. They were also mindful of my gluten free needs and allergies.
