Wow blown away with Shizen’s treats!! If you eat gluten free and dairy free in Japan I’m sure you already know that a lot of the times you’ll be eating what you can and not what you feel like. But at shizen it’s a whole different story! You can actually indulge yourself in some yummy foods :) thank you so much. We will be back!
Thanks for all the great food and cheerful service during our stay in Hakuba. Everything was delicious and we appreciated your ability and willingness to make some dishes gluten free for our celiac kid.

The plant base hot pot is full pack of amazing flavours highly recommend getting!
Also the sides they have to go with your hot pot are a must try, the tofu and chicken are next level. As well their kimchi is so fresh and has a great kick to it.
I also recommend getting the roasted cabbage, I never knew cabbage could taste this good!
Also another great thing is many of these dishes are Gluten Free.
It’s a Nepalese fusion response/Bar.
Vegan , halal and gluten free options are available. We tried chicken tikka masala and garlic cheese naan. And Nepalese beer and Nepalese dumplings was delicious. It was awesome. “Some low reviews recently. Really don’t know why? “
Friendly staffs and good food and vibes.

It is a small company, only 4 restaurants in Japan. It is in not the most touristic area, but they are taking care of vegan and gluten-free needs! The vegan ramen with brown rice noodles was so amazing that we came here every day we spent in this town. What a sweet lady working there as well!
I could eat gluten free soba (dry) noodles that are made a 100% with Buckwheat and the Tempura made with rice flour. For coeliacs check if they fry the gf tempura in the same oil as the non gf. But for gluten sensitive it is a nice place to eat gf soba noodles with gf soya sauce.

This is the best Baumkuchen in the world! I don’t know what kind of magic they use to bake this, but it’s incredible. 💓 It’s so good that we took 3 cakes back home with us to Germany 😄 Our friends and family love it, too!
As soon as you approach the shop, it starts smelling delicious. The cakes have an elegant sweetness and a warm, buttery flavour softness. I love the fluffy as well as the chewy texture - you can taste the high quality ingredients and perfected preparation in all of them, even the cookies. ✨The price is fair for this world-class Baumkuchen. Service was also very friendly! 🙇♀️
And on top, everything is gluten-free as they only use riceflour, also even suitable for celiacs!

The best restaurant in Hakuba the staff are very friendly and have very good english.
Their food is fantastic and restaurant is beautiful.
Most importantly for us is they understand gluten free and have great gluten pasta and gluten free chocolate cake. The red wine is nice also.
They have gluten free soy sauce and can make a gluten free sushi bowl. The chef understood gluten free as soon as I said it and was prepared even though the menu doesn’t mention it.

A small (8 people at a time), welcoming authentic place that runs solely by the woman who owns it.
She was the most nice and welcoming, has very good english, explained us everything we asked about the food.
The meals were delicious, the sake was perfect.
She has a lot of gluten free options which was perfect for me.
Don't miss this place!
Location of this cafe is inconvenient for those who walking, but better for skiing people. Because it’s located on the hill next to the slope.
They do not pick up the phone, so, we decided to trust information provided by Google maps and walked up to the hill.
Falafels are not gluten free
But curry is
Good for vegan and vegetarians menu, looking good deserts (unfortunately gluten), pizzas
Taste of curry like jp curry
I recommend this place if you are nearby or have a car
Wold be good if Falafel Brothers open cafe at the big ski area, like Hakuba 47
Great food and beer. Many gluten free options including fried and roasted chicken. Super cozy and very warm service. Allergen list provided (see photo).

Cosy and quirky place with great food and a lovely atmosphere! The staff are super friendly and accommodating, the artwork in the bar is awesome and there are good veggie/vegan/gluten free options. Would definitely recommend!
Very small restaurant, just one chef and one waitress. Reservations essential. I am coeliac and was recommended this place online. First time I went I had edamame, sashimi and a soy cream yosenabe hotpot (as this was the only GF hotpot available) It was absolutely delicious. There were also other options such as grilled fish. After the meal I asked to reserve a table again for a few days later and he told me that he would prepare a special GF Tom Yum hotpot especially for me so I didn’t have to have the same meal again (there is a Tom Yum hotpot on the menu but I believe it is not usually gluten free) The japanese chef spoke fairly basic English but clearly had an understanding of gluten allergy and they even had a bottle of GF soy sauce for the sashimi. Will definitely come back next time I’m in Hakuba.
The food was delicious and I was so grateful for the gluten free / vegan menu changes. However, after a day of skiing the portions were tiny and my husband and kids left looking forward to the free apples at our accommodation.
Good soba noodles, very nice atmosphere.
The soba noodles are 100% buchwheat so it is also gluten free, although if you are coeliac you'll need to eat the noodles plain.
Still good taste, and they have a nice store underneath the resturant :)
The food is good and served quickly
It is better to book in advance
It has a gluten free burger option. Could you add something else?
It is a good post-ski meeting place
I think the wheat-based ones are delicious. Chewy and moist✨
There is also an allergy display, so it seems easy to purchase. You can pay by code.
It seems to end when sold out. If you visit in the afternoon, the number of items is fewer, so I recommend going in the morning.
In terms of price, I think it's reasonable because the flour is locally produced and costs quite a bit.
However, I personally don't like the old fashioned one... If it's 100% rice, it has too much of a rice smell, the texture is poor due to the low oil absorption rate (as others have said, it tends to give a light impression), and the dough tends to be heavy, so it's hard to feel like a delicious donut! I think that if you reduce the ratio of rice flour and add wheat, it will be crispy yet fluffy and moist. (That's a secret that might give away my occupation.) The texture is a little crunchy at the moment...
It's not a gluten-free concept, and I think the frying oil is the same in terms of allergies...
Since they're making it with a focus on using flour and ingredients from the prefecture, I thought it would taste a lot better if they improved it, so this is just a suggestion...
It seems like the leftovers are unevenly distributed, so I think it needs to be improved...but I guess it's a matter of preference.

This restaurant was a great first stop in Shibu Onsen! They were incredibly accommodating of gluten and nut allergies and were happy to modify anything they could. The mushroom sampler was great, but we recommend skipping the snow monkey branded sake (better options available).
Very good food at reasonable prices. Vegetarian and gluten free options available. Good service. Accomodating for a large group. Beef cheek was fantastic!
