We booked a meal at Studio 48 back in early November for my girlfriend's birthday in mid-December. She had been so excited to visit after seeing it on TikTok and learning that it was gluten-free. Unfortunately, the experience was nothing short of a disaster.
Upon arrival, we informed the staff of our booking, only to be told there was no room for us in the restaurant.
The lady we spoke to acknowledged that she could see our reservation in their system but claimed they were only accommodating major
Christmas bookings that evening.
Instead of honoring our reservation, she offered us a tiny space at the downstairs bar, which was completely unsuitable for having a proper meal. Naturally, we declined, as eating a birthday dinner in such a cramped and un-mfortable setting was out of the question. This left us stranded with nowhere to eat on a special evening. Given the time of year, everywhere else was fully booked, and finding a gluten-free option on short notice made things even more difficult. The night we had carefully planned for weeks was ruined entirely.
After reading other reviews, it seems we're not the only ones who've experienced this kind of poor treatment at Studio 48. It's unacceptable to mishandle bookings so carelessly, especially when customers are relying on you for a special occasion. We won't be returning and certainly won't recommend this place to anyone else.
The food is incredible. I am gluten and dairy intolerant, and this was one of the few restaurants that understood the assignment. Service is slow and lacking. However, the food is sublime and worth the slow service. We booked a table in advance. The drinks were great. It’s a bit pricey, but worth it.
Paulina was fabulous! I have a gluten allergy and the managers made me feel very safe and guided me through what I'd be able to eat. Can't wait to come back!
Beautiful place with great food if you like mexican. There are options for gluten free too and great coctails. The air con was set too high but the staff were great and rectified it for us when we asked
The food was really lovely. Very nice atmosphere. They have a separate non-gluten menu which was great. Our server Denisse was very friendly and knowledgeable. I would come back
Stopped by with a friend when we were in the area and it was my first time trying wahaca. Staff were amazing especially with my gluten free diet. Lovely service !!! And Food was great too. Defo will be back!!

It's a nice place to go in the middle of a shopping spree. The queso is wonderful and the agua fresca is refreshing. The staff is very kind. I also had a salad, this was however very heavily drenched in vinegar. I have also had their glutenfree tacos before, they were not very good. Easiest thing would be to use 100% corn tacos.
Unbelievable tacos!! These are a MUST TRY if at Borough Markets! I chose a steak one and a chicken one - the steak was just out of this world. Juicy, tender, spicy and fresh. I could eat these everyday! Everything gluten free.
Most delicious food, best I had in London, I think. Really nice attentive and fun staff. The atmosphere - really lively but not overwhelming - I really enjoyed. I'm getting a bit old and places in London are a bit too loud and hectic from me - BUT not this one, they got it right! Plus beautiful interior design, attention to details on every level. Between us we were veggie / gluten free / allergic to dairy - and we all were sooo satisfied. Really really lovely experience, I will be back, and back again.
I finally made it back to Wahaca after years, and it didn’t disappoint! The meal for one was fantastic – so much variety and really great value, especially with my gluten-free needs taken care of. The Passion Fruit & Hibiscus Cooler was a delightful twist as well! Service was spot on; super swift and attentive, plus I loved the QR code for easy payment. Can’t wait to return!
TL;DR:
Great food! B i g portions.
Tucked away eatery in covent garden with great mexican food, and great gluten free options. A good choice for a casual ambience (good music, nice decor). Food has great flavours - I've been many times and can recommend essentially everything on the menu. One note is that food portions are large compared to other restaurants in London at a similar price point. Order less, or be prepared to take some home!
Andrea our server was excellent - Her attention to detail with my gluten allergy was excellent - Amazing coconut Margaritas - Amazing food please book ahead 🤩
Camacho C was a wonderful server, amazing energy and very helpful & reassuring about the gluten free options. Manager took my order and felt very safe as a coeliac. Food was incredible and reasonably priced
I want to highlight that I am celiac. The moment I reported it, the person in charge who was there at that time (June 24 around 1:00 p.m.) activated the protocol and made the staff wash their hands and change gloves to serve me. Even though this is the protocol, I appreciate the gesture since not all places treat you like this, so I want to thank the restaurant manager for the treatment at that time. Spectacular food as always
Tasty food although no veggie- or vegan-gluten free main course options. Friendly service. Didn’t have to wait too long for food to arrive (on a quiet Monday).
We love wahaca Wimbledon. Not only is coeliac disease taken seriously and gluten free safe here, but Antonio remembered us from the last few times! Amazing food, lovely atmosphere and safe gluten free. We will be back soon. Thank you :0)
Perfect service, so many gluten free options, Yavuz walked me through the menu and made the perfect hot chocolate for me and my friend. Best tacos ever. Would give six stars if I could. Highly recommend!
Food was incredible, some sauces/flavours reminiscent of a previous trip to Mexico. Great varied menu. My gluten intolerant partner had plenty of choice. Be warned that corn wraps and wheat wraps aren’t separated when kept with their thermal sleeve. Was given a shot of a frozen cocktail to try at the end, it was sensational so would love to return to have it! Staff were nice (bit eccentric)
I hate to have such a distaste for this place but the food was subpar and the decorations were horribly racist. I am going to assume the owner is white because none of the food or decorations were authentic. The whole thing was upsetting. What’s worse is I have a gluten allergy and was assured the gf food would be okay, but it made me sick and when I informed the staff they tried to disagree and say maybe I was just full instead of apologising and checking if I was okay. Overall a really disappointing experience and I will be strictly avoiding this place and sticking to the Mexican owned restaurants.
You have to try these gluten-free delicious tacos. Thank you so much to the Proper Tacos team for such a delicious experience. I happened to fall upon this small gem in Nag's Head Market and I would love to come again. I would undeniably recommend.
Really delicious vegan food. The Tofu Tikka Masala was absolutely outstanding. Lots of dishes are also gluten free or can be made gluten free. Lovely setting and very friendly staff. Highly recommend to vegans and non-vegans.
Terrible Experience – Rude, Unprofessional, and Unsafe for Celiacs. Just awful.
I had made a booking in advance, and even called in the afternoon to confirm it, yet when I arrived, they had no record of my reservation. Instead of apologizing or trying to accommodate me, the staff was incredibly rude and dismissive.
On top of that, I had specifically confirmed over the phone that I have celiac disease and was assured they had safe gluten-free options. However, when I arrived, they completely contradicted themselves. Not only did they not take my dietary needs seriously, but they were shockingly unprofessional—arguing with me and claiming that celiacs can eat contaminated food and be fine. When I tried to explain that cross-contamination is extremely dangerous for people with celiac disease, they continued to challenge me rather than listening or offering a solution.
The staff stood over me in an aggressive manner until I felt so uncomfortable that I had no choice but to leave. It was one of the most unprofessional and frustrating experiences I’ve ever had. If you have celiac disease or any dietary restrictions, I strongly urge you to avoid this place at all costs. The lack of knowledge, disregard for food safety, and sheer rudeness of the staff make this an establishment I would never recommend.
Had dinner with a friend on a Thursday night at El Pastor. We sat in the outside area which was well heated despite it being cold outside. The food was fantastic and the waiting staff were great, especially Alice who gave us plenty of advice with the menu, particularly for my friend who had a gluten allergy. Would highly recommended, a really nice spot to eat in Kings Cross.
Always love Cavita, great food and staff - also super easy if you’re gluten free

Absolutely awesome tacos and great customer service from Gerson! My wife is coeliac and the gluten free options were great! Strongly recommend for those looking for a wide range of gluten free options
I love the food here and the margaritas! Also used Jalisco to cater a private party. They have many catering options to suit taco trays with nachos or can even arrange for their own taco man! and they were able to cater for all dietary requirements (veggie/vegan and gluten free). They delivered the taco trays perfectly on time. Such an easy and hassle free way to order food!! Really can’t recommend enough
We had a lovely dinner at Las Iguanas at Stratford, the best part was our waitress Ruby, she was nice and she took a really good care of us.
A lot of gluten free options too!
Don't go if you have an allergy as menu is incorrectly labelled. Told them I had an allergy, ordered a desert that was labelled as not containing gluten, but later found out it did contain gluten.
Brilliant food and a very pleasant atmosphere. From the second we entered the staff were wonderful, and the food and drinks were perfectly curated.
The menu is expressive and the food was cooked perfectly, blending unique flavors and delightful ingredients.
I recommend trying as many things on the menu as you can because each is unique and perfectly cooked.
Don't miss out on this place if you're in the area, it's one of the best Mexican food experiences I've had, plus everything is gluten free or can be altered to be.
Great service, has the best Mai Tais as well. Service is friendly and they have an option or two for veggie/GF people as well. For gluten free folks eating meat, the variety is great.
My partner loves the food and we’ve returned multiple times!
Incredible. Best tacos I’ve had in London, and everything was gluten free as well (!!!!!!). Great option for celiacs / coeliacs. Frozen margarita was also a delight.
Beautiful restaurant and amazing, authentic food. We had a great night and will definitely be returning. I am also gluten free which was catered for amazingly and the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable
The service was faultless, the staff were all amazing and ensured we all had a great afternoon but the food was very mediocre. Most of the group complained of chewy steak and they do not have a gluten free menu but instead offer the matrix for you to review. For the price you pay you could have a much better meal elsewhere but would come back for drinks and the great staff!
I had the naked burrito as I am allergic to gluten. The food was nice but as a coeliac I think it’s probably not the safest option as I felt unwell afterwards. So I’d give it 5* if I wasn’t allergic to gluten.
