We visited York for a day trip as a family and, just like in other cities we’ve been to, we decided to go with Côte — and once again, it did not disappoint. If you ask me, the starters might be the weakest part of the meal — and I say that only because the mains and especially the desserts are so good that they outshine the rest. Still, everything we had was enjoyable. We had noted during our reservation that one of us has coeliac disease, and without even having to mention it when we sat down, they brought over a gluten-free menu. Huge thanks to the team for being so considerate and attentive. For starters, we went with the Camembert Brûlée and Calamari. As mains, we had the Confit Duck à l’Orange and Poulet Breton (corn-fed roasted half chicken) — both of which you can see in the photos. The gratin dauphinois served with the duck takes the whole dish to another level, and the duck itself was cooked to absolute perfection. On the side, I opted for the Green Salad, which might sound simple, but it’s incredibly tasty — the mustard vinaigrette deserves its own shoutout. Highly recommend trying it. For dessert, we chose the Lemongrass & Lime Leaf Crème Brûlée, Crème Caramel Classique, and Chocolate Mousse. Everything except the Crème Brûlée was an instant hit with us. While it was beautifully made in theory, the flavor combination just wasn’t to our taste. Côte once again nailed it. Fingers crossed the Manchester branch reopens soon so we don’t have to travel cities just to enjoy these amazing dishes!

Has a separate gluten free menu with items clearly labelled as being on set menu. Good set up in this regard. I really enjoyed my meal, but found the servings somewhat inconsistent. 3 of us had the beef rump, and all were different sizes and cooked differently, meaning some of my party did not enjoy their meals as much. Good cocktails and starters/desserts were nice. Waiting staff very accommodating.

We organized a Christmas dinner at Ceasars with my students, an international group from different countries, over the weekend, and it was absolutely fantastic! Although the restaurant was quite busy, and the staff took great care of us. Among my students, there were those with gluten-free and vegan dietary requirements, and every single order was prepared and served with such care, precision, and efficiency. I want to extend my special thanks to the staff for their outstanding service despite the crowd. The food was simply amazing! Everyone was delighted. Ceasars is undoubtedly the go-to place in York for delicious pizza and pasta varieties. And the homemade tiramisu? Absolutely perfect! Ceasars will definitely be our first choice for future events. Thank you!

Lovely restaurant with delicious food. We were 2 adults and a toddler and had dinner on a Sarurday early evening. Restaurant was busy but not fully occupied, although we had a booking. Staff were very friendly and accomodating, specially with gluten free options for our child. Food was fantastic and although we didn't go for dessert (as we ended up quite full) the cake display looked appetizing. I would definitely recomend!!

Not allergen friendly. The gluten free and dairy free food is not gluten or dairy free. My friend had a coeliac reaction and another had an anaphylactic shock.

Lovely experience as always at Pizza Express on Museum Street. Food was fast to arrive and our waitress was super friendly and helpful throughout. As a Coeliac UK accredited restaurant, I always feel safe eating here. Our waitress even went to double check that the garlic butter was still gluten free as the gf label was no longer on the menu for this item. There is also 25% student discount available 6 days a week which is a fantastic offering. Food delicious as usual. Will be back soon!

Pleasant setting, if a little bit disjointed in terms of the decor. The food is good, but felt over fancy, like tapas that was trying to hard to be posh. They do gluten free and have the items containing gluten marked. They don't have the items fried in the same fryer as gluten containing items marked on either the menu or the allergen listing on the web version of the menu with allergen filtering. The staff are very good and knowledgeable, but you will have to get more details if you are coeliac. The staff are very good and attentive.

I rarely write negative reviews, but From the moment the food arrived, it was clear that flavor was not a priority. Everything we ordered—from the mushroom starter to the main course—was under-seasoned, lacking any real depth or character. The ingredients tasted like they’d come straight from a freezer and hadn’t been properly introduced to a spice rack. Even the simplest dishes, like the pasta, managed to be both overcooked and underwhelming. Service was polite but indifferent, which mirrored the food: functional, but with no real warmth or passion. They do offer a gluten-free menu, which might seem like a plus—unfortunately, it’s not one I’d recommend. The gluten-free options were just as bland as everything else, with no creativity or attention to texture or flavor. The drinks were the best part of the experience but still nothing to write home about With so many great dining options available, I can’t see myself returning. It’s one thing to serve simple food—it’s another to serve food that’s simply dull.

visited this cafe around 11 a.m. on a Sunday and only had to wait five minutes to be seated! Their blueberry and lemon scones are hands down the best I’ve ever tasted. They offer a great variety of scones and cakes, with gluten-free options too, which was a nice touch. I’m still thinking about those scones! I also had the white chocolate matcha, which was fantastic and complemented the food perfectly. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making the whole experience feel warm and welcoming. I’ll definitely be back!

Stayed one night on way home from Scotland. Room was comfortable with lovely appointed ensure. Ate evening meal and they were very accommodating for my gluten free requirements with most dishes being able to modify. Breakfast was excellent with even gluten free black pudding!

Beautiful terrace overlooking the river which was a great spot for an excellent roast on a Sunday. First gluten free yorkshire pudding our coeliac has ever had as well!

Probably the best chip shop in York. It could only be made better by the addition of a cheese pie to their menu. Also offer Gluten Free but make sure you pre-order as this can take 30-minutes to prepare.

Very very good ice cream, quite cool atmosphere and very pleasant service. For allergies such as gluten-free, they are attentive but it is not perfect (they do not change the spoon for example, also the gluten-free cakes are mixed with the others in the displays).

Very good gluten free options on all menus. We were staying at the hotel so had a breakfast as well as dinner. The food was excellent and they were able to cater very well to my gluten free diet.

Won’t answer the phone at all, just hang up on us 10 times. We ordered a take away and can’t eat anchovies or cows cheese so we rang to edit the order and no one answered. Customer services can’t ring through for you and the app does not allow you to customise your order unless it’s ’vegan Or gluten free’. Very disappointing. We’re loyal customers and we’re just giving up on pizza express now as it’s such a ballache place to order in or from if you can’t eat certain foods … we’ve now spent over £40 on an order we can’t eat (and can’t cancel) because their website advises contacting the branch you order from after an order is placed and not before! Cheers guys !

We came here for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. It was our first visit and it was amazing! The food was so yummy, lovely presentation and definitely worth the money. The best dauphinoise potatoes we have ever had! I’m gluten free, and they were so accommodating and helpful! And I felt safe to eat which is always nice :)

No Gluten Free menu but staff went through all the menu which could be adapted or was GF. Plenty of choice except desserts which was sorbet or ice cream. They had GF pasta but not pizza. Understood the implications of Coeliac Disease and what was required to make things safe for me. I had garlic mushroom starter, risotto and sorbet. All excellent and my non GF family and friends enjoyed their meals too! Service was good and the singing waiter an unexpected treat! Will go back again.

Absolutely stunning restaurant in the centre of York. As someone with a gluten allergy sometimes finding decent Italian food without being sick is difficult. The server was lovely and assured me they could accommodate any dish on the pasta menu gluten free. I opted to chop and change some ingredients for the Diavola pasta and this was also not a problem. My partner had a tuna steak and it also really hit the spot. No ill effects to note for my gluten intolerant friends our there!
