Absolutely 5 stars. Been in today for a gluten free takeaway along with other bits and the queue was way out the door. The food was the best I’ve ever had, the order was 100% correct and the girls serving up (and the boys in the back) were absolutely smashing it under such stressful circumstances with a smile on their faces. Fantastic Gluten Free cod and chips last night. Massive portion of chips could've fed 2 or 3 of us. 2nd time I've been and I'd definitely recommend it and it was so close to where we were drinking on the harbour. Seating area was clean, staff were friendly and the food was great.

I was working in the area today and did a Google search for places that do gluten free food. This place came up and I’m so glad I came here. My partner also enjoyed it too. Absolutely appalling. All the food was freezing cold. None of the orders were correct. Tried to rectify cold chips but fish and mushy peas were cold by the time they brought it. Then kids had their beans put on the table, then 10 minutes later their meals. And most shocking was two meals were started, and the waitress flew passed, removed them even though some chips had been bitten into and placed them on an adjacent table. Plus gluten free was ordered for coeliac, and non-gluten free was put in front of her. £100 spent and extremely difficult to get a refund, despite full plates of food left un-eaten at the table. Waiter also very rude. Zero stars!

What can I say, You've not visited York until you have been to Drakes Fish n Chips Restaurant in the heart of the Old town, this small shop and sit down restaurant is a must for any visitor to the City. the menu is rather good and caters for Gluten options. although a little crowed in the seating areas to the rear it works with its warm and friendly atmosphere.
My only wish is I would like to see them knock through into another room to make more space and cater for those with disability issues .
Expect massive portions of crispy, delicious fish and chips with unique batter flavors and a variety of tasty sauces to elevate your meal.

This is simply the best gluten free fish and chips I have had.
The gluten free curry sauce is outstanding, smooth and spot on.
They also prepare in-house tartare sauce which tastes as it should, albeit the portions are small.
Don't forget to order the pineapple fritters. For fish and chips I don't go anywhere else, and I drive quite a few miles to Scarborough.
Keep this good quality up please.
