A gluten free goldmine! We found this place on our road trip from TX to NJ. We arrived about 10 minutes after they opened and happy we did because the line was almost to the door! After exploring the menu I understood the hype. As a celiac we are extremely limited on food options but this place left nothing out. In addition to an extensive coffee list there were cinnamon rolls, fried chicken, and biscuits and gravy to name a few. I was already in heaven. The woman at the register was so pleasant and hospitable informed everyone that they were a small operation and that there would be a short wait for some of the items as they were baking in the oven. Coffees came out quickly and food was a little bit after but I would’ve waited hours for what we were about to enjoy. Naturally I had to carb up with cinnamon rolls and biscuits and gravy. I will DREAM about these forever they were soooooo good. So good in fact we ordered cinnamon rolls to go. Show up early and don’t show up in a rush, you will not be disappointed. Thank you for our wonderful gluten free experience !
The restaurant is open and a little bit loud. It was hard to carry on a conversation without yelling.
The gluten free options were great. I had the ham eggs benedict with a gluten free english muffin and though the eggs were overcooked, it was still delicious. Highly recommend.
The gluten free pizza was really good. Everyone enjoyed their meal fully. The gluten free chocolate chip cookies are some of the best I've ever had. Thank you for an excellent lunch on our way to Gatlinburg for a family vacation.
Outstanding flavors! Family style eating with plenty of small, medium, and large plate options🤩. 100% gluten free and I promise you wouldn't know it but so wonderful for those who can't gluten 😍
Grilled cashew cheese was really good, and so was the soup. Tons of gluten free and vegan options. Desserts are great, as are the smoothies. You order at the register, but they have menus at the front you can grab and look at before ordering. They also have an outside area, some of which is covered. Will definitely come back.
I decided I wanted to spend a little extra time in Chattanooga before I headed home after a continuing ed opportunity. I wanted a coffee and a treat to take on a walk by the river. After a little googling, I settled on Sleepyhead. It was a good choice!
This little coffeeshop is inside the James Building. Truth be told, idk what else goes on inside the James Building, but the shop itself is on the left as you enter the front entrance. It's very small and there's only a couple of stools to sit on so it's mostly a grab and go operation, but wow is it adorable inside! I loved the welcoming, dreamy, upbeat vibes, as well as all the plants and the soft neon.
One interesting thing on the menu is a couple CBD-infused drinks. Talk about sleepyhead! ;) I'd not seen that before but the concept is intriguing!
Employees were super friendly and guided me in the direction of their sweeter current specialty lattes. They said one of the fruitier ones (raspberry? Strawberry? Can't remember) was the sweetest, but I don't like fruity coffee so I chose the pistachio latte instead. They made it for me quickly. I couldn't help but grab a donut and a sticker to commemorate my visit. All their food is vegan here and some of it is gluten free. I can't remember if my donut was GF or not, but I DO remember it being delicious. The icing on top wasn't gritty at all nor was it over sweet. The cake itself was a little bit dense but it kind of worked? I much prefer a cakey donut to an airy one so this was a winner for me! I can't remember if it was chai, Apple cider, or both, but it was definitely a spice cake and super yummy with my coffee.
The coffee was tasty and VERY strongly pistachio, which I for one was all about! I love the nutty, slightly sweet, vanilla-y flavor. In a perfect world I like my drinks a little sweeter, but as I said, it's partly on me because the employees did tell me. Still, I enjoyed it very thoroughly and would definitely return.
I'll enjoy my sweet sleepyhead cat sticker and think back on this visit fondly!

Our favorite spot in Chattanooga! Whether you sit indoors or in the garden, it always feels like a little oasis. The food and cocktails are always amazing and the staff is wonderful. And there’s lots gluten free options!
We knew we wanted pizza at our wedding, and after lots of searching and price comparing, we found the dream team in Chelsea and Alyssa at Downtown Mellow Mushroom! From the very beginning, they were amazing—offering us a tasting (with friends included!) and being super flexible with menu tweaks.
On the big day, they totally came through in a few key moments, and you could really tell they cared. They took pride in their work and genuinely wanted everything to go perfectly for us when it came to the food. Plus, Mellow Mushroom is just plain delicious, and they were awesome about accommodating our vegan and gluten free guests too.
The coffee was great but the pastries were even better! They have many gluten free options! The line was not terribly long but it still took quite a while to order—only one register in the place. Outdoor seating area is quite nice!
We have been here multiple times traveling through. I like to give folks the benefit of the doubt, but multiple times we have waited absurd amounts of time. Placed an online order. Waited 35 mins PAST when it was told to be ready and left empty handed. Turned out the kitchen was out of gluten free bread and couldn’t make it. The lady up front tried to help and offered a free drink, but that’s not why I was there. So, they refunded and did apologize. I always appreciate an apology, but it was poor communication from the kitchen. (Again, we’ve been here multiple times and slow service is a repeat.)
Outstanding food and wonderful service. Very gluten-free friendly for our Celiac family. Portions were generous for the price. Very convenient to Rock City and Ruby Falls. Highly recommend!

We expected a little more for our anniversary dinner. My husband specifically chose
this restaurant for our anniversary as a treat for me.
Server was fine. Hostess was in a hurry to just sit us at a table and run. Food was OK. I am gluten-free so I do realize that makes things a little different.
The gluten-free menu was inaccurate in both price and product. The salmon I ordered only came with one side instead of two and cost more. The server did let me know that before I ordered.
The side both my husband and I wanted, garlic mashed potatoes, was no longer available. I got a loaded baked potato, which was not loaded. It had things in it, but the potato was actually quite dry. My husband‘s mashed potatoes came cold. The server was quick to resolve the issue. His marsala chicken was OK.
It was our anniversary so we were hoping for more. We did mention this to both the hostess and the server that it was an anniversary dinner. server did tell us happy anniversary, but this was not an anniversary experience. Even the table we sat at was not the best view, though it was OK.
Adelle’s did not disappoint! We went for Sunday breakfast and was delighted to see live music and a welcoming casual atmosphere. Service was quick, and the manager (I wish I had asked her name) was very sweet and attentive. The food was delicious, especially the hash browns. The bacon was crispy, and they even have gluten free crepe’s available! 10/10 we would absolutely eat here again when in the area.
I loved that they have gluten free options, and asked whether my choice was allergy or preference. That makes a huge difference when a restaurant acknowledges the difference. Love their food. First time at this location, just as good as the Gunbarrel & North Shore locations.
Came here for a date night and it didn't disappoint! Kevin was super sweet and accommodating with my gluten allergy. Can't wait to come back again soon!
Life saver being open a bit later on a Sunday!
My wife can only eat at vegan places due to her gluten and dairy allergy and finding good places to eat is always a challenge but this place really delivered!!
Price is reasonable too
Lots of gluten free options! Food was delicious! The food was amazing! Even though it was Father's Day and a little on the busy side there was little to no wait! We'll be back!
I will start this off by saying I know Honey Seed is not the place to eat if you’re gluten free, but most times in life it’s about what the majority wants, even if your options are limited.
Decided to try the gluten free pizza on our visit yesterday. I chose the breakfast pizza which included hashbrowns as a topping. The server mentioned how the tater tots are like a hush puppy, which clued me in to them having gluten. But I assumed if the hashbrowns had gluten, the server would’ve let me know so we could take it off the pizza. When the pizza came out I could tell there was gluten on it so they happily brought out another one no problem. I was hangry at that point & the pizza looked fine so I ate a few slices & went on about my day. Now that I’m looking at these leftovers, I can tell there’s hashbrowns on them, which makes me think they just picked off the hashbrown pieces instead of making a new pizza. I am disappointed at this discovery!
This is a lesson to all- don’t take your gluten free loved ones here. There’s not enough choices nor knowledge from staff
This place was amazing!! The waitstaff was super knowledgeable about their gluten free options and took all the precautions. The chef made the bisque from scratch since the one on the menu actually has gluten in it and it was the BEST!! He also made the gator bites with corn meal instead of the regular breading so I would be able to eat it (this was also so so good)! Will definitely go back there again!
My wife and I enjoyed this quite a bit. The only unfortunate thing was that the GF French Toast wasn't safe for celiac but it was safe for those who simply like to eat GF.
If you're in Chattanooga, I highly recommend this restaurant! From the Caesar salad, deviled eggs with candied bacon, roasted beets and goat cheese to the Shrimp and Grits, and their Hibiscus Mule(house ginger beer). Everything from Service to food was Excellent. Ended the meal with their Praline Caramel Carrot Cake. Very Good! They also have a Good gluten free selection.
Sadly the Cornmeal has changed and has flour now and is no longer gluten free, so no more fried okra or catfish. We always came here for that. At least the nachos are still ok to have. Fish wise I was told the trout almondine won't be done without the breading, the salmon has soy, and the catfish can't be done without breading even though it is breaded as it's made I guess the fish quality not good when grilled or is too small. Unsure. I've had grilled catfish at other places just fine. Maybe one day they'll bring back to good cornmeal. :/ Such a sad day.
Today my husband and I went in to eat lunch there for the first time. I ordered the cut pork with collard greens ,grits and a side of gluten free toast. As I was eating the pork, I noticed I was chewing on something other than meat. There was plastic in my pork. I told the waitress and she offered to bring me the same dish. I told her no thank you. She went to talk to the manager and took it off of our bill. She comes back to tell me that how it packaged and prepared, plastic got in my food and someone dropped the ball. The manager, John was aware of the situation and never came to address it. He did not come to our table to apologize for the plastic which I have ingested. However, I called back and spoke with John to ask what was he planning to do in this situation and he told me that he should have came to take to me but he was at the bar and didn’t.He then offered an appetizer for my next visit.I’m sorry but it isn’t acceptable.
The food here is amazing! I particularly love their breakfast. Gluten-free options are available, too. My order was to go, and the hostess was so friendly and welcoming
I am so grateful for Oaks!!! This is one place that takes allergies seriously, and I know there is always something gluten and dairy free that I can trust. Can’t rave enough about their food options, service, and atmosphere 🥳
Stir has a great atmosphere and menu! My wife, who has a gluten sensitivity, and myself had the pleasure of lingering over drinks, openers, and a delicious dinner! Highly recommend
This place was all around amazing from head to toe. The view of the river and mountains…the modern theme of the restaurant inside and out…the attentive and personable waitstaff…the very accommodating menu for being gluten free….bringing out a water bowl for our pup…and the best tacos we’ve ever had! You’ve gotta add this place into your plans the next time you’re in the downtown Chatt area! Also shoutout to our server, Ross! He was great. Cheers!
I have celiacs disease, it's hard for me to go out. Drakes is an exception. Not only does it have a wide variety of different styles of food, but it seems like they take allergies/intolerances serious. Riley was our waiter and was empathetic, patient, and fast! He took my intolerance serious and made sure that the items ordered (including my alcoholic drink) were gluten free. I also love that the menu is labeled gluten free.
Thanks for the wonderful experience!
Sat at bar. Didn't order alcohol drinks, but wanted to eat male bartender was helpful with gluten free and vegetarian options but wasn't pleased we weren't drinking, lol. Had the potato chip nachos: Fab. And the ceviche sampler. Split with a friend it was perfect.
First visit, delicious chicken pesto crème pasta w/gluten free noodles. Pizzas were decent, service was great. Atmosphere was a bit cold, but may have been a fluke because there were not many people in the restaurant side of the building. But sounds like the Monday night trivia was fun there was a small crowd in the lounge/bar area. I’d go back.
The food is always consistently good! If you like Steak the Princess Kew Steak is always delicious. I eat G.Free mostly, so that is what I ordered. It probably has soy sauce in it so there is some amount of gluten. It wasn't enough to bother me, but I'm only Gluten Sensitive, not a Celiac.
The Pork Fried Rice was quite good too! It has a lot of good sized pieces of tasty pork in it, not those little half inch sized cubes that a lot of places serve.
I've eaten here since before I moved to the Hixson area numerous times and I highly recommend you try this place. Most people will be hooked artery one visit. The prices are reasonable and what I had tonight was definitely much better than the last time I ate at PF Chang's! For much less money at that.
Food is delicious and the atmosphere is great! They had the outer wall open since the weather was nice, giving it an open air feel. They also accommodated gluten free needs which was greatly appreciated!
The food was delicious and the service was excellent. My daughter has celiac disease and they were extremely helpful and careful with her food. I definitely recommend the restaurant.
Yay for finding a breakfast restaurant in Chattanooga that I can eat at! 🎉 Plenty of options to satisfy my no sugar, gluten-free request! And it was met with friendliness and helpful suggestions instead of treating me like a nuisance as so many places do. We will be back! 💖
UPDATE: We went back in a group of 13 food and service was excellent. Brandon waited in us and was very polite as well as attentive. Everyone enjoyed their selves and also look forward to going back. //First review:Went there for lunch for the first time and liked it so much we went back for dinner. Our servers were Kailey and Ryann which were great and very informative. We were visiting on our anniversary and ate hear because they had Mahi one of my husband's favorites. Food was great, reasonable priced, wide variety, and drinks were great. Nice atmosphere as well. Great Gluten free menu as well.
First of all, I would like to thank all the staff of Whitebird for the magical night for dinner.
This restaurant is on the first floor of the Edwin Hotel right next to the Walnut Street bridge, Hunter Museum, and all the romantic spots in the art district.
With this type of setting, you know the night will be magical. Extra points for whoever came up with the idea to out see through igloo"s just outside the restaurant patio next to the bridges. Yes, you are reading that correctly. You can spend a romantic dinner in a see-through igloo with white lights and all the night sky in an intimate, darker setting. You only find two of these, so i would book in advance for this special venue.
My date and I absolutely loved the decor, atmosphere, staff, and the food.
I have a gluten allergy to Wheat, and all the staff went out of their way to make sure my night was perfect with no cross-contamination.
The owner, manager, and all the staff were top-notch for a true white glove fine dining should be.
Now to the food. I ordered the salad, thinking it would be on the smaller side. Nope, it was a large portion and amazing flavor with ingredients not used much in salads you would find at a restaurant. This was a real chef cooked/ prepared to order.
Next, we had the grilled chicken mini sliders with a sauce that was delicious to dip into. I'm not sure what it was, but wow, it made the flavors come out more.
I also got the garlic mashed potatoes. This was definitely my favorite with just the right amount of ingredients and fresh potatoes, not instant garage, like some restaurants try to pass as mashed potatoes. Nope, nothing but the best and finest quality of food, cooked to order Cordon Bleu chef.
They had a gluten free buns, so I got a grilled chicken sandwich that was delicious.
The evening was nothing less but magical with the sunset going down the stung lights in the igloo. Dinner was just perfect and a nice walk on the bridges to in the evening.
I would highly recommend this restaurant and experience for your next romantic dinner date.
Don't take my word for it make. Go see for yourself the magic that awaits.
Would I recommend this restaurant? Absolutely
Would I return? Absolutely
