After the acquisition of the business to the new owner, things have continued to slide downhill. This place used to be my favorite however the new owner also does not have celiac and is not aware of the quality required to run this bakery correctly. They've been continually chopping the quality of ingredients and no longer use purity protocol oats as I've gotten sick several times now from them. Additionally, they have an Okay rating in terms of health and food safety after having some incidents.
Portage Bay Cafe in South Lake Union is a gem for breakfast and brunch lovers! The atmosphere is bright and welcoming, with a trendy yet casual vibe. Their commitment to organic and locally sourced ingredients truly shines through in every dish. The Bananas Foster French Toast and berry toppings bar are absolute must-tries—fresh, delicious, and incredibly satisfying. The portions are generous, and the service is consistently friendly and efficient.
Whether you’re dining solo or with family, this spot caters to everyone, including vegan and gluten-free options. Outdoor seating is pet-friendly, making it a great choice for dog owners. Yes, there’s often a wait, but the food is worth it! Highly recommend making a reservation if you’re visiting on weekends. A fantastic place to start your day in Seattle! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
The gal at the register was great. Kind, informative and patient, also fun!
My biscuit was great- so thankful for a good gluten free biscuit!! The sandwich was tasty and I wish I could grab these more often. Outside, you order at the window and wait for your to-go order. Not really seating- which I didn’t realize in advance.
Brownie, with their version of nut-free peanut butter, was INSANELY good. Loved this place. Dropped some $ on a selection of their goodies. Nothing has disappointed *chefs kiss* If you are in Seattle, and want/need gluten free, go here.
Unfortunately while dining here I ordered a pasta and asked for them to make it gluten free, however once I received it the noodles were off so I made sure to ask again if it was gluten free in which he said “isn’t that what the menu says” (it said to ask for it to be gluten free) and he later confirmed it was not. He did take it off at the end of the meal and the other food like the artichoke was delicious, but this is a problem unfortunately.
The food was delicious and the portions were huge!!! The atmosphere was hectic even early in the Sonday morning. But I will recommend here for a quick breakfast. Also tons of vegetarian and gluten-free options!!
Great cafe in belltown! Organic and super clean ingredients. The owner was very nice and helped me order for dairy free. They have many gluten free and vegan out also do halal meat. Service was excellent and the atmosphere very comfortable. Plenty of seating and a good array of healthy options on the menu. Plenty of street parking and easy walk from public transit. Bathrooms available.
We were a little worried when the menu constantly mentions "organic" and "gluten-free"... Some places like that can be pretentious and the food is often disappointing...
That wasn't the case here! The menu isn't smothered in meat, but they still offer plenty of options. Very tasty breakfast, although my boyfriend's egg still had very runny whites - but he didn't mind.
The only thing was I wish the server mentioned the berry bar to us. We didn't notice it until we were leaving but apparently there's a berry bar with fresh fruit and cream to make yourself a little parfait kind of thing? I'm not sure because we didn't know it was there, but there's a sign that says "one visit to the berry bar per entree."
The food was good enough that we will be back. And that berry bar is going to get some action next time!

A place for folks with a sweet tooth.
I found the lava cakes to be like starbucks/dunkin/cheesecake factory level sweet. The creme brulee was my favorite and I would get again. It was really creamy. The $5 hard cider was good value.
A casual spot where you order up front, take a number and bus your own tables.
I am a fan of the inclusive menu ( gluten free and local) and also they make sure customers don't misgender their staff. There is also coffee, tea and wine.
Parking is difficult since it is caphill but it is less than 10 minutes from the caphill station and directly on a bus line.
Friendly local cafe with great coffee and homey food made on site. Great place for multiple lunch and breakfast options. If you’re meeting folks with dietary restrictions, Cloud City is perfect—vegan, vegetarian, gluten free options with good selection.
What a pleasant discovery this little jewel is!
My friend and I enjoyed tunamelt sandwiches with small salads. I’m gluten, dairy, and “nightshade“ free……. So it’s always a pleasure when I can report on good toasted gluten-free bread, And flavorful tuna!
The salads were fresh and not boring: a mix of greens, cucumbers, onions, olives. They forgot to put my dressing on the side, and both salads were overly dressed. But we appreciated the effort.
I had a great chai, oat milk latte: not overly sweetened or syrupy!
We will definitely go back!
* Would appreciate regular height tables and chairs outside……
Cool little restaurant that was transformed from an original house. Fun decor. Food was delicious!! Had gluten and dairy free options. Reasonably priced. Delicious breakfast.
We had Pho Tai Lan and Pho Ha Noi Style both were very flavorful. The music and atmosphere were very pleasant as well. All in all it's a lovely corner Cafe to meet with good friends.
Oh, and they have plenty of Gluten free options.
10/10!! This spot was on my list for a while and boy did it not disappoint. From the atmosphere to the food, everything was exceptional and reasonably priced. Tons of options for everyone in your group — vegans, vegetarians, gluten free. The vegan biscuit was amazing!!
Fish tacos were tasty but small for the price. Easy to eat there with a gluten intolerance. Ambience was lively and young (right by the UW). Make a reservation if possible! If it is warm sit outside, you can watch people pull up in the boat and paddle board parking on the lake which is fun!
This place is a Pioneer Square landmark. The coffee is some of the best around made by some of the best people. You can easily sit and watch the daily hustle and bustle from the large windows or you can hunker down and get some work done. They have local vendors and artists from time to time, including a tarot reader. The food is tasty with gluten free options too.
The breakfast bagel was delicious! The only reason I gave it 4 out 5 stars is that they were out of gluten free bagels and that's all my friend can have. If it was in the afternoon I wouldn't complain but it was still relatively early in the day.
The food is amazing with great staff. There are lots of vegan, vegetarian and gluten friendly options. Summer is usually our barista/cashier and they are incredible, very friendly and makes great coffee. The kimchi breakfast sandwich is good but my go-to is the meaty breakfast burrito bowl.
They had some really yummy gluten free and keto options (even if they aren't advertised that way.) I'd go back. I got the Turkish eggs and latte. Both were excellent.
The atmosphere is excellent. It’s cozy in the winter and has a little outdoor/backyard oasis in the summer. It has cozy seating, a large collection of vintage frog figurines and other critter decorations, gluten-free treats like brownies from Nuflours, and a wide variety of dairy-free/vegan milk options. All the staff are great and the drinks are delicious. It’s the kind of weird & wonderful hole-in-the-wall coffee shop that seems to be getting more rare by the day. They also sell tie dye frog t-shirts for the discerning connoisseur of fashion.
Most affordable coffee shop in the area. I appreciate their americanos are all the same price. They have gluten free bread to replace regular bread for their sandwiches. Tons of seating both in and outdoors, some in the lovely morning sunshine.

I asked for gluten free bread to REPLACE my english muffin and they charged me $4 extra… That’s INSANE. It’s not an extra item it’s a replacement… People with allergies and disorders are just treated like garbage and I’m so over it. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOURE GLUTEN FREE.
Amazing coffee with beautiful pastries, including a few gluten free options!! This was our favorite first stop in the morning during our trip in Seattle.
Had an amazing brunch with my girlfriend here. We picked here after reading reviews and were not disappointed! Outdoor seating was lovely and the staff offered to remake my food if I didn't like their gluten free biscuit. That was not necessary because it was delicious!!! New favorite brunch spot.
Kampachi Crudo had a nice spice level that had heat but wasn't overpowering.
Skirt steak and king salmon (gluten free) we amazing.
The sorbet for desert was perfectly sweet and refreshing after.
Cocktails were top notch, old fashion with rye and a martini.
The best house-made gluten free pastries anywhere! And such friendly service from cafe owners behind the counter. A lot of hard work to keep this great little place going!
Highly recommend you try Yaygit whether you are vegan or not! I discovered this gem yesterday and have already been back. The food is so fresh, healthy, and delicious (the best combination), and you can really taste the vibrancy and frequency of it. The owner is lovely and committed to supporting gut health and wellness. It’s gluten free and food intolerance friendly. I loved everything I have tried so far and can’t wait to go back!
This place is so cute and I wish I lived in QA so I could come by more often! I stopped by since I had some work to do and was in the area. Kim was very helpful in recommending what to order which I always appreciate at a new place. I got the vegan sandwich with tempeh and the vegan cream cheese and pesto and the acai bowl with the matcha and mango (Balinese Green I think?) and Gigi offered to drizzle some extra almond butter on top, and both were delicious and very filling, not bad for the price. I stayed for a few hours and they had wifi and outlets near one of the tables. Kim, Gigi, and Justin (the latter two are owners) are all friends and it definitely shows in the warm service here. They remembered my name even after other customers had come and gone. I can't speak to their coffee but they also did have coffee drinks, smoothies, and breakfast bowls. Kim told me this place only opened about 6 months ago but it seems to be doing great being so new. If I'm in the area again I'll definitely make a point to stop by. I appreciated that they asked me if I had any allergies, and that they had a lot of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.
I came here with a large group because our reservation at another restaurant was mistakenly messed up. They were able to double check with the manager and get us a table for 12 last minute, on a pretty busy Friday night at 7pm. They have a few really large tables in the back and lucky for us a reservation for 10 had cancelled! Great service and they were so accommodating and friendly! I had the red curry and my bf had the pad see ew, both were delicious! They have a big menu that can meet lots of dietary restrictions (gluten free, dairy free, and vegetarians in our bunch) and everyone was happy with their meal and cocktails. If you haven’t been here before and witnessed a birthday celebration, that’s seriously a must see in Seattle. This is such a friendly and welcoming restaurant and you can tell they really care about their customers. I’ve been to cap hill a number of times and for some reason never made it in here - I regret not trying them sooner!
After just returning home from a wellness retreat in Arizona I was craving a healthy smoothie. I swung into Fit Bar for my very first visit, and tried their Lean Green Smoothie and it was FANTASTIC! Probably the best smoothie I've ever had - no joke. My son also got the strawberry and banana kids smoothie and loved it as well. I was also thrilled to see that they have so many GF offerings (neither of my children can eat gluten) so we will definitely be coming back soon to try more of their offerings! Oh and the service was fast and friendly too - bonus!!

Such a kind owner. Adorable decor and super thoughtful retail space. We especially love the compostable coffee cup lids and gluten free options!! They can make any sandwich GF which is so amazing for me and my family 🙏
Why have gluten free options when you can't make that request on the self serve kiosk?? And the checkout is blocked by a table. Obviously don't want our business.
They have some of the best pizza around. The thin crust pizza has a light puffy crackery edge, which means being able to enjoy all the flavor of a delicious pizza without the heaviness (even standard "thin" and gluten-free pizzas are heavier). The service is always great and the staff are friendly. And don't forget to try the cocktails (my fave is the G&T with Monkey 27 and red peppercorn. The antipasto plate, the lasagna and the Caesar salad are delish. Come hungry and be prepared to take home yummy leftovers!
I was so excited to find Arepas (gluten-free Venezuelan food) here! Good food and friendly staff made this a great lunch spot. The food did take a while to come out, but it was worth it.
