Our family of 5 went and had a great meal. We started with the lobster ravioli appetizer and really enjoyed that! Then we had the carbonara (one with gluten free gnocchi), clams linguine, chicken parm, and chicken Alfredo. They did a great job with the gluten free meal- absolutely would get again. I could have shared- as it was too much! Everyone loved their dishes. We would certainly come back. Favorite meal of our trip. Service was very good. Our server checked on us regularly and food was brought out steaming hot! The place is small and narrow, but quaint, like most in that section of town. We had a nice cozy seat across from the brick pizza oven.

I love this North End staple. They make a small selection of dairy and gluten free items daily - a coffee cake, chocolate chip cookie, and whoopie pie. Like everything else, they are available until they sell out. The coffee cake is my favorite! The cookie is not the best in town, but still good and I appreciate having the option. The whoopie pie is best eaten fresh. I appreciate this long-time establishment having some options for those with food allergies.
Absolutely amazing!
The staff is thoroughly trained and managers bring allergies to the table. They even use a black napkin under allergy plates as a signal to all employees that the dish is an allergy. They use casarecce GF pasta - so they can know it’s GF just by looking at it. I felt incredibly safe eating here, and I got an almond flour cannoli!
I went here with two girlfriends and sat at the bar. We order the beans, the hummus with arugula and prosciutto and a gluten free crust pizza. All of it was spectacular. The pizza crust was a think crust - but texture and flavor were spot on!
The bean dish was out of this world and the sauce was excellent. Cocktails were also good and service impeccable. Highly recommend.
very busy & we were walk ins so I do recommend making reservations understandably our wait was a little long but were able to go to the bar for cocktails as we waited. but the Manhatten was delicious & food was Fantastic. Highly recommend the Linguine Con Vongole. party was also very happy with the gluten free options / Modifications
Very loud and a tad over priced. Best gluten free pizza crust in the area. Most, if not all the dishes I sampled needed salt, but otherwise delicious and excellent ingredients.
Homemade GF pasta and mozzarella sticks!!! Yes please!! My sister and I both have celiac and our waiter put us at ease right away, letting us know that the gluten-free food was prepared in a separate area. I did have my 10 year old niece with me. She was not as appreciative of the menu. There were not many options for her as a child.
Great place!! The service was top-notch, the inside is a bit cramped (it's the north end) and wicked hot inside but otherwise good! The real star was of course the food. Hands down amazing from the appetizer to the main course- and they accommodated all my allergies very well! I'm GF and DF, they were able to do a lot and had Vegan options too. I'm celiac, felt safe and didn't get sick. Highly recommend.
GLUTEN-FREE PIZZA!! I was very thankful that this establishment had an option for gluten-free pizza especially since it's competitor Main street house of Pizza doesn't have that option. Overall I would rate this pizza a 7/10. The pizza was crispy but soft. I didn't like the sauce and chesse combination on that particular gluten-free dough. But again I'm thankful, it filled my stomach and made me happy. Most importantly, I didn't get sick. Staff is knowledgeable. Oh! And for 14 bucks it was great size portion. Try it out for yourself, you never know.
Sincerely,
Honesty
Looks and feels like your typical "house of pizza" but low and behold it is a gluten-free person's dream with so many delicious options which I love they're calzones!!!!
The flavors are generally pretty complimentary and I am appreciative of the high-quality gluten-free pasta with celiac-friendly preparation.
The atmosphere leaves something to be desired in two aspects:
1: the somewhat arrogant pricing
2: the customer conveyor-belt style service flow - they are trying to fit as many seatings as possible into each evening and do everything they possibly can to get people in & out in under an hour - seems a bit self-defeating when they are selling $65+ bottles of wine
Worth it if you go in expecting to order light, get one drink, and move on. Definitely find somewhere else if you'd like to enjoy multiple courses and make an evening of it though.
The chicken milanese and the strawberry tiramisu were delicious!! I also just heard that their Monday evenings are gluten free!! The private green room is outstanding!!
I have been looking for a really good gluten free pizza and checked many places but had yet to find one until the one I had at Papa Razzi. They can make any of their pizzas gluten free. I had the Melanzane with sauce. It was delicious. The crust is a bit thin but the flavor was wonderful.
They do have some GF stuff here, but I asked one of the workers if it was safe for someone with celiac/an allergy and she said she would absolutely not recommend that I eat there and that there is definitely cross contamination in the kitchen. This may be good if you have an intolerance but I don’t think you should try it if you have celiac.
Our server Vivian was excellent - professional, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The food and wine were great too (as always). We really appreciate all of the gluten free options as well and the gluten free rolls are delicious.
I’m sitting here right now, and I basically never feel inclined to leave a review mid meal, but here I am. After less than a year of realizing I have a severe gluten intolerance, it’s been an adjustment, to say the least, and not a yummy one. This food about brought me to tears. Maybe it’s the long travel, but nonetheless, I find myself trying to savor every bite.
They have a gluten free menu, which I decided to try the house made Ricotta (chips instead of bread), and the bolognese. I can’t. Every bite is amazing, and if you have a gluten allergy, you know what delectable pasta isn’t always easy to come by. Not to mention, I’m sitting by the bar and can hear the kitchen staff talking about the gluten dishes, grabbing clean pans, and ensuring they leave the hold window when they’re done. Just beyond what most restaurants do. I cannot wait to be back in town to come again.
Oh, and the staff is just so nice and helpful, and everyone seems to just sincerely love their job! You know when the owners and chefs (and sous chef!) are named on the menu, they take real pride in what they do. Highly recommend!
Highly recommend! Food, service and atmosphere was great! Was extremely happy that they offered lots of gluten free options. Love love love the women's bathroom decor! Would definitely come back!
Brought a large party in after my daughter's graduation. Service was fantastic, chef very willing to customize dishes, plus lots of options for our gluten-free guest. Well done!
Looking for gluten free? Unos has a cauliflower pizza that I couldn't taste the difference. We go an XL Cauliflower Windy City with no shrooms or bacon. Tastes just like any regular thin crust pizza. So worth the try.
I have a very thoughtful partner who put a lot of time into looking for a nice Italian restaurant in the North End for date night with the understanding that I will be looking for gluten-free options.
I don't get very many one-star reviews. I'm not entirely sure who is at fault for my experience it could be someone who works in the kitchen it could be the server...
I told them that I couldn't eat gluten due to an allergy. I was served a huge pile of wheat pasta. Do better, I guess. Mistakes happen. I do have a larger problem with the way it was handled after it was discovered to be a problem.
I identified the error before putting food in my mouth and sent it back to the kitchen.
When the food returned, it was literally the same dish and cut of meat but the pasta had been swapped out. It was evident that Lucia Ristorante did not value my safety.
Aside from that, the gluten-free pile of pasta that I received had been cooked hours before and was lukewarm and gummy. Reader, I understand that gluten-free pasta is not the main focus of North End dining but this was the most vile gluten-free pasta I have ever experienced. As you can imagine that's kind of saying a lot.
If that was all that happened I might actually give them another chance and just be really clear next time and provide boundaries up front about what is acceptable for a replacement.... except that the actual dish that I got was such salty dry Bland chicken. I have to say that the fried artichoke was really good. But a few fried artichokes on a dish full of vile pasta kind of eroded my trust to the point where I don't think it's worth trying again.
The food and beverage were delicious. They accommodated our gluten allergy. Our server Nicole was such a joy. She took care of us so well from start to finish!
Wonderful Food, Wonderful Customer Service
Davio’s is a great place for a special meal, especially if one (like me) is allergic to wheat. They have wonderful gluten-free options while satisfying that steak-house craving. The soups and salads are superb, the special appetizers are excellent (I had the glute-free lobster gnocchi one night, and the lollipop lamb chops another), and the mains never let us down (steak, and cod on risotto). Also the cocktails are wonderful - I especially like that they have Keel Vodka available for martini’s. Keel is a local vodka with a lower alcohol, which is nice if one wants wine with dinner. And, most importantly, the customer service is great.
A cautionary tale for all who enjoy dining out - if you are not happy with a meal or service - let the management know via a simple talk, a call, or an email. We went to dinner on a Sunday and our main took over 2 hours to arrive at our table, which we promptly had packed to take home (we were exhausted and no longer hungry). We paid our check (with a healthy tip, because it was not fault of the waitstaff), and left. I wrote to the management then next day, with a copy of my receipt, and an explaining the situation. I asked for nothing in return other than a response. I like Davio's, and I’m happy they are doing well, but I want to assure that my future meals are excellent even if it’s a busy night. I mistakenly assumed the glitch was that the kitchen could not keep up with individual diners as well as larger groups in scheduled events. I received a prompt response to my email and spoke to the general manager who told me that actually a lot of staff had called in sick with the flu/allergies that day. Even so, she acknowledged the lack of attention we received - with such delays, someone in management should have come to the individual tables to offer an explanation. She invited us back to make things right. We did return a few days later and had a wonderful meal. Obviously she’d spoken to the staff - as all were very attentive. And she comp'd us a few items off our meal, as a thank you for reaching out. The lesson: Never assume and never write a bad review before telling management about your concerns - it’s the kind thing to do, and the right thing to do.
We will be back at Davio’s soon - the rose wine flights are a nice summer treat.

We had a gluten free pizza, and it was delicious. One of the best gluten free pizzas I've ever had. They were also super nice and opened the window for us. Excellent service.
Our large group thoroughly enjoyed. Food was delicious, service impeccable, and we especially appreciate the careful attention to gluten sensitivities.
I know these days have been hot but ot was even hotter inside. We were literally sweating. Ordered a gluten free pizza and the crust was soft in the middle and crispy on the outside. Should have been evenly cooked. Everything else was just ok for pasta dishes. The seasoning can be improved.
Thank you to Molly Lyon-Joseph, owner, and her amazing staff for accommodating our bookclub on a very busy night. We had reservations for two tables and we were allowed to put the tables together so all 7 of us could enjoy each other’s company. Our server was gracious and patient. My food, clams and pasta, was delicious and I really appreciate the restaurant’s attention to providing gluten-free options. It was great to see Sapphire at the bar! A terrific locally owned business that takes care of its employees and patrons. Highly recommend.
Discovered this restaurant last night for a quick dinner and we will certainly be back! The quality of the food was excellent and the service was outstanding. I especially like that they have an extensive gluten free menu. I had the GF shrimp and scallop risotto, which was delicious, and a really excellent house salad. (So often, house salads are just a sad combo of a few greens and maybe one or two other vegetables; this one included green and Kalamata olives and small mozzarella balls, all dressed up in a wonderful balsamic dressing.) My husband had the lasagna with extra Bolognese sauce and was very pleased. I have a feeling we may become regulars.
This place was amazing. The Brussel sprouts amazing. The Filet Mignon, was outstanding.
It was swamped and of course there were some jackals for customers, who didn't really understand a busy restaurant.
We got it, it's August it's busy.
The food was amazing, summer Primavera with shrimp and gluten-free pasta 😋.
Our Server Ashley and Manager Missey, you're both great. Don't let the grumpy, out-of- stater tourists get to you.
You both do a great job.
Take it easy on them the spot is popular and busy.
Great place to go for dinner. The food comes out so quickly, is piping hot, and delicious! We ordered the Lavender Lemon Drop (sweet) and Gin Figgy Fizz (tart, think grapefruit). The Gnochi al Forno are amazing!!! We also ordered the fried ravioli, Tony’s a la vodka, and Caprese Chicken (gluten free) 🤤
Would come back again. Josie is great!
Three of us ate at the bar for lunch. We each got burgers. Two of us had ice cold fries. The third ordered the burger gluten free and it came out without any bun at all, just a sad patty sitting on a plate. The bartender said ops they forgot the bun.
The place wasn’t busy at all. We’d have been better at shake shack
We ordered three pizzas for delivery and only two were delivered. The gluten free pizza was not delivered. PZA uses DoorDash for delivery - their choice and one pays PZA directly. Upon the driver explaining they only received two pizzas and I watched the delivery driver the whole way and they came directly to the delivery address. I also checked the drivers car. I called the restaurant and the person the answered insisted they handed the driver three pizzas and would not honor the fact that three pizzas were paid for and only two made and delivered. The restaurant insisted it was a door dash issue. Again the restaurant contracts out door dash so there is no means by which to put in a complaint with door dash. The person that answered at the restaurant hung up on me the customer and become very argumentative. It does appear from other reviews this is a trend. Please don’t order from this restaurant for delivery they do not honor their customers orders and are extremely rude.
UPDATE I have changed my review to service of 5 stars and included the fact that the pizza was very good. The owner contacted me directly and is making everything right. I would go back and recommend that with such high customer service that you should check them out if in the area.
