I’ve been coming to this restaurant for a few years and I love the food, atmosphere and the service here. I’m gluten intolerant, and they have really good gluten free pasta.
TL;DR:
Visited Casa Manila a few weeks ago, excited to try a new cuisine. Staff assured me dishes were gluten-free — they weren’t. I got sick. When I raised it, management dismissed my concerns and showed no accountability. They also spoiled my birthday surprise by mentioning the expected cake with candle. Extremely disappointing. If you have dietary restrictions, avoid this place.

I visited Casa Manila for the first time and was excited to try a new cuisine. I appreciated the time and care they seemed to put into maintaining a well-labelled menu.
My sister arrived before I did and arranged for a candle to be added to the free birthday ice cream for me. The server told me about the surprise ahead of time, spoiling it, but I was still looking forward to the experience.
Unfortunately, the staff misguided me on what was gluten-free.
Server 1 said they could accommodate vegetarian and gluten-free and that the adobo could be made gluten-free, after confirming with the kitchen.
Server 2 said everything was fine except the jasmine rice, which was odd, but he confirmed after checking that the rice vermicelli could be made gluten-free.
After eating, I started feeling off and asked whether the dishes used soy sauce. Server 2 admitted they did, and I had to explain that regular soy sauce contains gluten unless a gluten-free version is used. He clearly didn’t know what he was talking about, so I requested the chef come out.
A lady came and instead of addressing the issue seriously, asked if I was just feeling "guilty" for eating gluten. I explained it’s a medical issue and that I was misled despite asking directly. She said customers are responsible for reading labels, but servers should not confidently recommend unsafe options. She admitted they had never dealt with this situation before.
I asked what they could do for me, but she offered no solution. I told her I wouldn’t be paying and left.
I cradled a bad stomachache and prepared for the onset of hives.
Extremely disappointed. If you have any dietary restrictions, be very careful — or better yet, go somewhere else.
We had a fantastic experience at the restaurant, and a big part of that was thanks to our server, Vanessa. She was incredibly knowledgeable and attentive, especially when it came to accommodating a celiac allergy. Vanessa took the time to walk us through the gluten-free options, double-checked with the kitchen, and made sure everything was safe and delicious. Her friendly and professional approach made the whole experience feel easy and stress-free. Highly recommend—ask for Vanessa if you have dietary needs or just want great service!
I've been to this place before and had quite a pleasurable experience. I came back for the last evening of Winterlicious. I made a reservation and they seated my self and one other person right away. It took over 25 minutes for a waiter to come check in. After one did (she apologized for the wait and said she wasn't even supposed to be our waitress) then 5 minutes later someone else came (over 30 mins total). The restaurant had some tables but it really wasn't too busy. The meal took a VERY long time to come out. The only decent thing was the Apetizers, but the food took so long to come it wasnt worth sending it back and waiting for more. The dessert did come quickly. Both meals were plain and tasted like nothing special. They were able to accommodate for a gluten allergy. I was disappointed since I have had such good experiences there before.
Visited Safari Bar and Grill for the first time on a Sunday night. The wait staff and bartender where incredibly thoughtful and accommodating. The food was fresh, cooked as requested, hot and delicious AND they have a huge selection of food for gluten sensitive individuals. The patio was covered and heated, which will be very useful when it rains or gets colder, and there was a great games room upstairs. It was a truly memorable visit, and I hope to return soon!
The atmosphere was very nice and the staff we encountered were all pleasant. It was a bit disappointing that the frittura mista cost $22 for such a small portion. Although it was really good, not sure that it’s worth the high cost for the small portion. I ordered the casarecce aromantica and thought it was a bit bland. I tried my boyfriend’s bolognese and it was quite good. I also tried my sister’s rigatoni russa (but penne for gluten free) which was also very good. The tiramisu was very liquidy which was disappointing. I’d give the overall experience a 6/10. I’d go again if a friend/family wanted to go there but I don’t think I’d go back on my own volition.
I wanted to thank the gentleman I spoke to on the phone who took care of our order and addressed our gluten-free questions. He guided us to the right choices and was able to modify some of the dishes. The food was so delicious, & our guests were very appreciative. Thank you so much! We will definitely be back.
Came here for the first time. The servers were very nice, helping me with my gluten allergy. Also the food was amazing! I recommend the green curry for anyone with a gluten allergy. Also got the matcha ice tea which was amazing! Thank you everyone 😊
Had a large group during a slow period, so we had lots of attention from the server. Found the service to be above average on the whole and very hospitable. Food tasted great and they were able to accommodate a gluten free request of one of our party members. Great GF crust, very fluffy and similar to a normal crust.
Service is swift and engaging. Dietary needs and variations are always accommodated for graciously. Gluten Free and Vegan options exist and all curries are made with coconut milk. 5 stars for flavaaa + the lamb shank biryani.
A wide-ranging Italian themed menu. Absolutely everything I’ve eaten there has been excellent: beef, lamb, fish, pasta, vegetable cooked to perfection. Friendly, unpretentious service. Offers summer patio, high-backed booths, bar, and event room in the rear. Vegetarian and gluten-free options. Lots of parking.
The place is always clean and the staff are always friendly.
I have celiac disease and the people always change their gloves to reduce chances of cross contamination.
Great time catching up with my friend - really appreciated the complimentary bubbles and the help with choosing gluten-free. Wonderful service from Shenelle and will definitely be back!
Landwer Café is my favorite place for breakfast or brunch. I had the Rustico Omelette and it was super tasty. Their Americano coffee is really good too, nice and strong. I’m obsessed with their crushed potato and tahini sauce . I love that they have a lot of healthy options, plus gluten-free and vegetarian choices too. I went on a weekday morning, and it wasn’t busy, so the service was really quick. My server, Shaurya, was amazing — super friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend this place!
The service is friendly and efficient. The staff is knowledgeable about the menu and happy to offer recommendations. Overall, my experience at Bar Burrito was enjoyable, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a quick and tasty meal. I’ll be returning to try more of their menu!
Though, there was a girl whose name is sapna , she was friendly and she described in details about the menu. I have the celiac allergy, so she prepared my food according to that. The staff was well aware from the food allergies and cross contamination.
Excellent food, and profoundly filling. I got the Chicken Jalfrezi (because it was gluten free) and my husband got the meatball starter and the Chicken Tikka Masala Sandwich. We would have loved to have dessert but we were stuffed. The ambiance is also quite lovely, but the service was a little slow. It took some time for our order to be taken and even longer to get our final bill.
I truly appreciate how the servers go out of their way to accommodate my dietary restrictions (I’m celiac and have a severe dairy allergy). For my upcoming birthday, they surprised my friend and I with a sparkler-topped shot since I couldn’t have any desserts, which was such a caring and thoughtful gesture.
I gave the food 4 stars because while everything I’ve had is delicious, I wish there were more than just 2 or 3 menu options for those with gluten restrictions. The atmosphere also gets 4 stars because during my last few visits, I noticed some tension among the staff that was audible, especially near the sushi bar. However, the service was otherwise excellent, and I wish I remembered the name of our server—she was absolutely lovely. I’ll definitely be returning for Shuck and Buck!
Food is amazing 🤩 but I do have an issue as to why there are no gluten free pasta and pizza in the Don Mills menu….I know the Queen location has gluten free pasta but in this day and age with so many food sensitivities and allergies they should be readily available at all Good Son locations!!
My Sunday brunch was amazing! A little cozy cafe with Mexican fusion food with regular brunch options too. The food was very flavourful and we loved the Mexican fusion. The owner was very hospitable, she looked after every single guest. It felt like a family environment with very good food.
We are definitely coming back to have dinner.
Highly recommend for vegetarian options or gluten free options.
I like that they have vegan and gluten-free options. You can choose the level of spiciness. I asked for a spicy pad see ew and it's quite spicy! Portions are big and satisfying.
Reopened for the season under new management - by Daniel & Daniel! Delicious sandwiches (served on plates!), reasonable prices. Not a lot of choice for people who can't eat gluten, but they do have a lovely green salad you can add chicken to. Some nicer seating would be good, but that is likely beyond the control of the cafe management.
