I have just been diagnosed with celiac and when you are visiting a city you don't know with non-celiac friends, it's not easy to find something for lunch. It's good, and colorful. Pleasant terrace sheltered from the crowds not far from rue Ste Catherine. I was able to eat a Bordeaux cannelé. I had lunch there and took some sandwich bread to take away. I recommend and I will come back. THANKS
Enjoy a cozy vibe with a spacious layout, amazing brunch options, and a lovely terrace, perfect for a relaxed meal experience.

Very pleasant welcome and very good pastries, not too sweet in addition to having lactose meaning.
Possibility of having gluten-free pastries, in any case we are very well advised. The decor is very nice too, quiet while being in the center of Bordeaux. Enough to refresh yourself, with deliciousness, calm and conviviality 🙂
Charming bistro with a cozy vibe, great service, and delicious crepes, perfect for a quick and satisfying bite away from fast food.

Great choice for gluten intolerant people. Wide variety of galettes and starters. Service was nice but there were misunderstandings due to the language barrier.
Brunch here is a must-try, with generous portions and a diverse menu that pleases everyone, but it can get a bit pricey.

Wheat or gluten-free buckwheat pancakes, super soft, sweet and savory. The savory versions are integrated into a dish with really intense and well-assembled flavors. Copious, adjusted prices. Local ingredients. Well appointed place, quiet, wifi.

Very nice and cozy place. The service is very good, they are very friendly. It is not a 100% gluten-free place, but they have a menu where you can find dishes that are gluten-free and those that can be adapted. It is nice to find places where gluten-free dishes are clearly indicated. It is worth highlighting how good the banana bread was (gluten-free dessert).

Very cramped but the food is very good and healthy. Excellent for those intolerant to lactose and gluten. Be careful, however, of the second dish of the brunch (hummus and melted carrots) which contains gluten (gochujang) which suddenly made my stomach hurt. It was noted as gluten-free.

The Modjo restaurant offers a six-course menu at 88 euros and a four-course menu at 72 euros. These set menus are designed to provide a consistent dining experience, but the lack of choice may not please all customers.
Welcome and atmosphere:
The welcome at Modjo is particularly pleasant. The staff is cheerful and attentive, which contributes to a positive first impression. The restaurant room, spread over two levels, is nicely decorated and well appointed, offering a warm and friendly atmosphere. This split-level configuration adds an interesting dimension to the space, allowing for more intimate dining areas.
Mandatory discovery:
One of the notable points of the Modjo restaurant is its obligatory discovery menu. While this may provide an exciting culinary adventure for some, others may lament the lack of flexibility in choosing dishes. This format imposes a certain rigidity which may not suit all palates.
Quality of dishes:
The dishes served at Modjo elicit mixed reactions. On the one hand, the soup, which is often a starter dish, did not live up to expectations. Its lack of flavor and depth of taste can be a disappointment to those who enjoy well-prepared soups. Likewise, the desserts failed to impress, lacking creativity and taste.
Culinary highlights:
However, there are aspects of Modjo's cooking that are worth highlighting. The bread, served as desired, is exceptionally good. Its freshness and texture make it a delicious accompaniment that complements other dishes well. In addition, the sweet treats offered at the end of the meal are a pleasant surprise, adding a sweet touch to round off the culinary experience.
Accessibility:
An important negative point to mention is the accessibility of the toilets. These are not suitable for people with disabilities, which can be a major problem for affected customers. Additionally, the fact that there are no separate toilets for men and women may be perceived as a lack of comfort and privacy.
Gluten free:
A positive aspect to note is that Modjo accepts gluten-free requests, which shows consideration for the specific dietary needs of its customers. This allows those following a gluten-free diet to fully enjoy their meal without worrying about cross-contamination issues.
Cosy, good and small selection of cakes (gluten free options) and food but well executed. Simple and delicious. I rate the fondant au chocolat.
Staff are super!
Expect a vibrant brunch scene with a caring team and unique dishes like sublime orange blossom waffles in a welcoming atmosphere.

Brilliant brunch place with wonderful ambience. Dog-friendly and with gluten free options(the whole menu could be done gluten free). Everything was lovely but our highlights were the Ciabatta with pesto, the Gluten free pancakes and the apple and raspberry juice.

I came to brunch with my friends,
the pancakes are tasty, I loved the “gavé bordelais”
the team listens and knows how to adapt quickly (I forgot to mention that I was eating gluten-free and it was no problem for them to make me the pancakes at the last minute.)
thank you again for this moment!

It is not a 100% gluten-free place, but they only eat the salad and the meat with potatoes. Therefore, what they offer in principle is gluten-free. The potatoes are homemade. The meat comes in a sauce (when talking to the waiters they told me it was also gluten-free) that for my taste contained a lot of oil, but the meat was just right. The place is very large but the tables are too close together. In general it is not bad.

Valentine's Day dinner booked online on their website about 15 days in advance communicating the need for gluten and lactose free dishes. Upon arrival we reminded the owner of this again and he reassured us. The food is of excellent quality, beautiful dishes, tasty. Unfortunately, however, when serving the second course I was presented with a roast in a puff pastry crust so I asked the waiter for clarification who didn't even understand the simple phrase: "is it gluten-free?". From that moment the kitchen mobilizes to offer me an alternative (excellent like the rest of the dinner) too bad that in the meantime my husband has finished his second course.
No discount will be added to the bill, nor will there be a free digestive. I would add that a bottle of sparkling water costs €8 (our fault is for not having checked the price of water before). Conclusion: the food is excellent, prices high not for the quality but for the superficial and approximate service considering that we don't speak French but the waiter doesn't speak a word of English... but we are the customers!
Great terrace vibes and quick service make for a lovely evening spot, plus a menu that caters to diverse tastes.

I ate a gluten-free pasta with truffles, cream of mushrooms and burrata. I really complimented the waiter on the cooking of the gluten-free pasta because it was perfect (I was afraid it would be overcooked), difficult to find even in Italy honestly...
However, the dish wasn't bad at all!

Really enjoyed the sushi here. Friendly service. Also, I was able to safely eat gluten free (I am coeliac), and they even provided gluten free soy sauce!
A very good place for a quick lunch.
Your choice of vegetable lasagna, savory cakes and croque monsieur which vary depending on the day. All always accompanied by a salad composed of vegetables but also fruit.
The cookies are exceptional (dark, milk, white chocolate, gluten-free...).
You can have lunch inside with a few well-chosen books. At the moment, a few tables available on the square facing the cathedral.
We love these places with a strong concept. Located in the very original Darwin district, this restaurant is a continuation of the concept. Organic, gluten-free, vegan but in any case very good, reasonable price and impeccable service. You can extend the meal by walking along the banks of the Garonne. In the top

Best meal I’ve had in France. We had a lot of great meals in Paris but this was the best one. We did the chefs tasting menu. Very accommodating for our gluten free and vegetarian friends, not just excluding items for them but doing new dishes.

Excellent restaurant, with a sophisticated menu, absolutely delicious dishes and impeccable service. The 3-course menu also includes appetizers, a pre-dessert and sweet treats, all delicious which is very appreciated! The kitchen even made the effort to make the dishes gluten-free for one guest. Thank you very much for this moment!
A very good surprise... Stumbled upon this restaurant while walking in the neighborhood, we loved it: seasonal soup, gratin with chicken curry and coral lentils, and especially gluten-free fondant for dessert... The setting is very simple but delicious and quality cuisine!

One of the best restaurants in Bordeaux. My partner and me, we had the pleasure to enjoy the food at Terre Emeraude in August this year and it was delicious. Even for me as a celiac who has to eat glutenfree, the restaurant offered me several options and nearly everything was without gluten. Thank you so much for an unbelievable food experience. We will definitely come back next time we are in Bordeaux. All the best for you and big hugs from us ❤️
