Went for the Nutella noodle cheesecake (March 11-5, 2025 only) and left with the peanut butter cheesecake too. Sweet Hereafter is an adorable cheesecake and coffee/tea restaurant, perfect for a date, catch up, late night dessert or to take out. It’s a ‘Ma and Pa’ business, locally owned and operated and the Pa makes all the recipes. And they have gluten free options. They’re closed on Sundays and Mondays so plan ahead. So glad it’s on my dessert choice list now!

Such a fun place to eat. Celiac safe (in my experience) and most of the menu can be made gf. It tends to be noisy so if you're not into that kind of thing it's something to be aware of. It's a cozy spot and the service is always top notch. Once a dish wasn't what I'd hoped and the server inquired why I wasn't eating much. I didn't want to complain but after I told them I wasn't into it they brought a free dessert after offering to replace the whole meal (I was already full so I didn't want another). The one time I didn't love what I got they more than made up for it with the service. That same day I ate a bunch of another persons pasta and theirs was excellent, I think what I had was a one off and have gone back with 0 issues since.

We had a spectacular dinner at 2 Doors Down. A cozy atmosphere, excellent service and the food was amazing! My partner is celiac so was very happy they had a gluten free seafood chowder, and it was so good. Loved the biscuits with the butter and molasses as well. I had the scallop and asparagus risotto….definitely recommend!

I wish this place had a more authentic Venezuelan decore but besides that its perfecto!! The Empanadas are super yummy and gluten free, in fact all the food is I believe. Great service and amazing owners and definitely a must reccomend when visiting the Waterfront of Halifax.

A hidden treasure we just happened to find. Great place to meet up with friends in a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. The service was amazing, and the food was excellent. My husband has celiac, and not only did he have gluten-free choices on the menu, he really enjoyed the food. Best of all, he didn't have any negative reactions. We'll definitely be going back whenever we're on Halifax.

The interior is beautiful, romantic enough, cozy, but the light is too dim for me (but this is my subjective opinion). Location - the restaurant is located in the down town, i.e. in the city center, which, unfortunately, means the absence of its own parking lot and you have to look for it, and it is paid even on weekends. Food - not very many, in fact, menu items if we are talking about the main dishes. There are few gluten-free dishes, which, for example, was a problem for us. We had to order soup and salad because we have restrictions on the types of meat we can eat and therefore, actually, vegetarian soup is all we could order. It was delicious, I have no complaints, but it's still a pity that there is such a limited selection of gluten-free meat dishes. We ordered tea and I liked that the tea cup was warm (despite the fact that it was empty), and the tea was served separately in a teapot). Service - everything here was top notch, the girl who served us was as attentive as possible, she knew the menu and the composition of the dishes well, she could tell us what dishes we could order, taking into account the restrictions we had. But still, I deducted one star. I was out of paper towels. As always, in the restaurant there is a cloth napkin in which the cutlery is wrapped and which we put on our laps when we eat, but I cannot wipe my lips, for example, with that napkin, for this I need paper ones, but they were not on the table and no one offered . This is my humble opinion, it was uncomfortable for me. Well, the shortcomings of the menu that I wrote about above also played a role in the evaluation. And in general, I can recommend this place, we liked it.

On vaycay from Vancouver B.C. doing the walk about at Pier21 and stopped into The BG. Beautiful location, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Huge beverage menu!! As celiac, it's challenging to find some safe eats away from home. I ordered the gf option Lobster Roll & fries and oh my lord.... fantastic 😋 Thanks for being aware of dietary restrictions for some 🥳 If I'm ever back out this way, will definitely come back.

Nestled at the Halifax waterfront amongst historical buildings, the A Mano is a beautiful Italian restaurant that serves traditional fares with great pairings of wines and the usual beers. Service is smooth overall, but we did have a small issue with a gluten-free order, which needed to be rectified. We were a group of 8 and a wide selection of food was ordered. The Schiacciata, Sgabello, Calamari Fritti were good and perfect for a chilly evening. As the main course, Quattro Carni, fresh Halibut with Shrimps, Lasagna, Lamb Shank, Seafood Stew and the Linguini were good. We were too full and ordered the share Torta Per Due cheesecake and were not disappointed . Overall, good restaurant and great vibes for a chilled dinner next to the water.

I have had the pleasure of esting at Darya twice now and both experiences were wonderful. Amazing food and great service, such a beautiful restaursnt and you can't beat the location overlooking the harbour. One thing I love about Darya is that everyone can find something to enjoy on the menu, whether you are gluten free or vegan etc you aren't just stuck eating the one option for your needs on the menu, everyone is able to choose from a variety of dishes at Darya.

Absolutely love this place! The staff are super friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. The space is big, clean, and has a great atmosphere, perfect for a quick bite or a relaxed meal. I tried the smoothie and a burrito, and both were absolutely amazing. You can really taste the freshness in every bite. Highly recommend Harvest if you’re looking for healthy (vegan, gluten free), delicious food in Halifax!

I had been wanting to go here since they opened and I finally made it on my birthday. I am happy to note that the service and food did not disappoint. Emily was super kind and lovely to talk to. I had the baked rigatoni and my mom had the beet and goat cheese rigatoni and both were so delicious. They have a few gluten free options to choose from as well! For the quality of food, the prices are pretty reasonable. I suggest making a reservation before you go because they are typically very busy. The atmosphere is warm and inviting in my opinion, and I will definitely be back again!

Bliss Caffeine Bar never fails to exceed expectation. Bliss was the ideal choice to host a social event for our local research conference (private event with 100 people). Jenna made the entire planning and social event stress free. Her and the staff are incredibly friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. Myself and a few other attendees have celiac disease or follow a gluten free diet and while they cannot promise cross contamination, Jenna went above and beyond and picked up rice crackers for the charcuterie boards (separate from the gluten free crackers). The food and drinks were delicious and beautifully presented. The venue is a first-floor level with no stair making it accessible for those with physical limitations. Thank you, Jenna and the Bliss Staff, for making our social event a success!

Found this little gem on Lower Water St and now I am obsessed! The Green Goddess smoothie is definitely my favourite but they have one of the best gluten free brownies I have ever had! I love this place and the service is fantastic!

Fawn Offers lots of delicious gluten free and dairy sensitive options. We started with Oysters and the Tune Crudo with their sage and rosemary french fries. Followed by the spinach salad and the zucchini wrapped cod. Everything was very flavourful and felt satisfying without a ton of carbs. We finished with the lemon meringue pie that my friend described as the "closest she has ever come to bungee jumping". A great spot for a group gather or a private dinner for two.

Excellent options and there were some gluten-friendly dishes to try here! Loved the calamari and lobster appetizer. The beef tostada was next level and full of flavour! Although we didn’t have oysters there seemed to be many people ordering them so they are probably quite good! Worth a try if you are in the area.

We attended the Valentines Prix Fixe event at Anemone. I am gluten and dairy free, my husband is not. It was easy to see which menu options were available to me before purchasing tickets, was prompted to note food allergies when purchasing, and received an email confirming this afterward. The venue itself was so lovely and cozy. Parking was easy, even on the holiday. It truly feels like you are at a private dinner instead of a number at a restaurant. A friend asked me afterward what my favourite part of the meal was - I couldn’t decide! Everything from the welcome snack to the caramel sauce on the dessert was excellent. The staff verbally confirmed (without me ever needing to ask) each of my GF/DF plates as they brought them to me, which made me feel confident that I was eating safely. At no point did I feel my meal was “less” than my husbands (I’ve suffered many bunless burgers and plain baked potatoes elsewhere). We left happy, full, and looking forward to returning. Had a disappointing experience here last night. First, the host was fantastic, helpful on the phone with a last minute reservation, and communicated effectively about when our table would be ready etc. Once the host sat us though, it was another 5-10 minutes before our server greeted us and brought water. From that point on, service was lacking. Food and drinks didn’t take too long, but our water glasses sat empty until we finished our meals and had to request more. The server was attentive to other tables, even walking past us with a full water pitcher and checking in with them, but didn’t glance at us until our plates were empty and stacked. It’s understandable that service is slower on a busy Friday night, but it was jarring to notice the server prioritizing other tables. The music was also quite loud for a sit-down restaurant. The food is really good but the portions are small. Lots of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options, love the layout and decoration. Just disappointing that from past experiences and other reviews, it seems like some staff prioritize certain clientele over others. Hoping this is something that improves in the future!
