Good trattoria in the centre, traditional dishes with the possibility of having the entire menu also gluten-free. The dishes are tasty and plentiful, the prices are average for the center of Palermo, the only important note is that the penne rigate cannot be served with fried courgettes, this first course must absolutely be served with spaghetti or spaghettoni, a blue pencil mistake.

I'm sorry but we didn't like the pizza. We came for a person who is celiac, but basically, it seemed to us that all the pizzas were made for celiacs. The dough is biscuity. There are people who like pizza like that but we don't. The environment is small... normal prices.

External environment enclosed within the walls of the surrounding buildings. The outdoor room has no fans, so you can imagine the heat felt. The internal room is cramped and has ineffective air conditioners. The pizza is average, while the gluten-free pizza is not bad. Good first courses.

Finally a pizzeria where those with intolerances can enjoy a truly delicious pizza. Special praise goes to Salvo, the waiter who served us during dinner. His preparation in recommending wines was impeccable: he guided us with passion and competence in choosing the perfect pairing for our dishes, transforming the dinner into a small food and wine journey. We made a reservation here due to the high reviews. The service was 11/10 our server was amazing but frankly this was the worst meal we’d had in Italy. We had the octopus (polpo), ravioli and calamari. The polpo (octopus starter) was amazing (!) but the ravioli and calamari were a 4/10. The server did let us know the calamari was gluten free (which is fine) but it was what we would expect from a McDonald’s calamari but for $19 euro? We may have caught this spot on an off night because the plating was gorgeous but the taste was not a 4.8/5. Bottom line the service and servers were amazing. the food unfortunately did not reflect the 4.8 review and there’s certainly better places to get food in town.

What a huge disappointment. The two of us got two pizzas. A gluten-free Romana and a margherita with mushrooms whose cooking is rather doubtful as they looked like they were defecated by a seagull. In any case, we go beyond sight and eat them, terrible, very poor quality of both the dough and the ingredients (as simple as they were). But that's not all, we also had considerable difficulty digesting the pizzas, which literally remained on our stomachs. Final gem, two pizzas (one Roman and one Margherita with mushrooms) two cokes and a bottle of water €43.50, a robbery!!! If they had been good I wouldn't have said anything, but two crazy things and excessive prices for the poor quality (saying quality is a compliment)! Huge disappointment!! Never never again

They also bake excellent gluten-free pizzas, the pizzeria is AIC affiliated. You can also buy take-away pizza and they deliver home delivery. I have been a customer for years and have always had a good experience.

The restaurant staff proved to be extremely attentive and attentive to customer needs, helping to make the experience even more pleasant. We began our gastronomic journey with an appetizer of high quality cured meats and cheeses, which conquered our palate with authentic and delicious flavours. The first courses, a risotto with porcini mushrooms and tagliatelle with sauce and wild boar ragout, were a real delight. The mastery in the preparation and the choice of ingredients made these dishes exceptional, demonstrating the chef's culinary skill. The highlight was the grilled short rib, enriched with aromatics that added depth to the flavours. The meat was tender, succulent and perfectly cooked, confirming the mastery of "'A Castellana" cuisine. We accompanied our dinner with an excellent frappato red wine from "Tenute Orestiadi", which was able to further enhance the flavors of the dishes. A particularly appreciable aspect is the restaurant's willingness to adapt to customers' dietary needs, offering gluten-free options for those who suffer from intolerances. As regards the quality-price ratio, I think the cost is normal, considering the quality of the dishes, the atmosphere and the impeccable service offered. In conclusion, our experience at "'A Castellana" was exceptional in every aspect. We look forward to returning to experience more culinary delights and enjoy the warm hospitality of this charming restaurant.

Pros: They actually had a gluten-free option, and it was only €1.50 more than the regular one. Honestly, a win for anyone with a gluten allergy. Cons: Where do I even start? The sandwich was tragically soggy, the filling was basically non-existent (except for the sad clump in the middle) and the flavor? Nonexistent, Ive had water that tastes more seasoned! To make matters worse, they didn’t even cut the sandwich, so eating it felt like some kind of weird food challenge. I paid €9.20 for this, and honestly? I could make a better sandwich at home blindfolded, with expired ingredients and zero effort. The restaurant itself looks nice. The colors, the concept, all very aesthetic. But when it comes to actual food and customer service? A total letdown. And as someone who has survived hellish 10-14 hour shifts in food service, I can confidently say the server had way too much time gossiping behind the counter instead of actually doing their job.
