I really wanted to enjoy my meal but I was so disappointed.
The Caribbean chicken bowl I ordered was very poor. I had four 1-inch pieces of dry chicken. No juices or sauce, which should surely be there if it's 'braised'. There was a lot of rice, but it was so dry. The vegetables were ok, I really liked the carrots. That was it!
I was so happy to find a gluten-free restaurant, but it was a big letdown.
A charming spot on the promenade with a cozy patio, stunning sea views, and a unique twist on classic dishes that keep everyone satisfied.

Horrendous experience. We recently heard that this restaurant could cater to those with Celiac disease. So we gave it an go today!! Everyone was excited. After asking repeatedly to confirm everything is gluten free and free from cross contamination, before/during/after, we were assured it was. My 10 year old is now violently ill. I might point out that it was 2:00pm when dined and we were the only table there. All any parent of a child with Celiac asks is that a restaurant is just honest on whether they can guarantee gluten free food and possibility of cross contamination (within reason). If you can’t, we’ll bring something with us!! The severity of the reaction my son experiences is always in proportion to the amount gluten he ingests. If it’s a slight cross contamination, it’s usually a couple trips to the toilet to vomit, bit of Tylenol then he’s good. The severity of this particular attack tells me it was direct ingestion of wheat. We’re moments away from going to the hospital. To the waitress that served us and the owner of this establishment…shame on you. I wish you were here watching my child experience the effects of your neglect. Watching your child suffer like this is heartbreaking.
While I’m on it…the service was terrible too. Seeing as how we were the only table in the place, why did I have to go to the bar to tell her we were ready to order, again to order a drink, then again to ask for the bill. The Canadian guilt in me still left a 15% tip. Regret that now.
Edit to this post after the fact…Owner contacted me and refunded money. Offered up apology. He did clarify that food is prepared in same kitchen so avoidance of cross contamination cannot be guaranteed. He said staff are supposed to tell the customers this. He’s committed to retraining and educating.

First time at the fish store and tried the gluten free halibut. Staff were very knowledgeable and asked if this was Celiacs.
Lots of choices on menu and fish and fries turned out very tasty!

This is one of my favourite hidden gems in Kelowna. I don’t normally eat seafood or much fish. But this place changed that for me. The fish they bring in is so fresh and of such high quality. The batter is so thin and crispy. It’s also gluten free. The cod and halibut are my favourites. The tartar sauce is amazing. The coleslaw is one of my favs also. The service is excellent. They also serve wine and beers and cocktails. The happy hour has many great choices. A definite must try in Kelowna.
A charming nautical-themed spot with amusing knot-tying decor, offering extensive options and a smooth dining experience that keeps visitors coming back.

All I can say is WOW!! Being gluten free and being off dairy right now I thought my days of poutine were over!
The vegan/gluten-free poutine is so delicious and such a generous portion! The gluten-free deep fried pickles are crunchy and tasty.
The service was incredibly fast, easy by phone/app with updates and all. I was greeted with a smile and positive energy when I walked in the door.
I will 1000% be back again!!
Enjoy a relaxed vibe with a diverse menu featuring top-notch dishes and a unique moss wall that adds a fresh touch to the place.

Called to place a take out order. Staff was very nice and friendly. We were given a very accurate time that our food would be ready. Four of us ordered four different meals and we were all very happy, especially my daughter who cannot eat gluten. It was so nice to not have to worry about any gluten cross contamination.

Great selection and quality on fish and chips. Fish tacos were awesome. I love trying chowder all over, but this one disappointed. It's probably a "true" white clam chowder, which is fine, but I want more than that in my chowder. Busy spot, lots of takeout and other delivery drivers in and out. Very basic, cafeteria style seating. Fantastic that there are more than just the basic options for fish and chips, and they make a gluten free version as well that is apparently tasty.
With stunning waterside views, a vibrant atmosphere, and an extensive menu, this spot is a must-visit for an unforgettable dining experience.

Hubby and I (from Australia) began our Canadian holiday with a New Year's dinner at Cardero's. Although jet lagged as we had arrived that morning, we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. It was made extra special by our friendly and professional server, Katy. The food was incredible. We had the prawn cocktail and BBQ ribs as appetisers, and both were divine. We then had the signature salmon and beef tenderloin for mains and finished with the most silky and creamy peanut butter cheesecake. It was also decorated with happy anniversary for our 10th wedding anni. Katy helped me with matching wines, and this was much appreciated. We tried ice wine for the first time, and we're addicted. Menu is incredibly gluten friendly. What a delectable dinner to start our Canadian food adventures!

Pricey, but worth every penny. Every dish my partner and I ordered was chef's kiss. One of us is celiac and the waiter was very friendly and accommodating about the choices available.

Rented a private room for a business meeting. Received very high end service. Food quality and options were through the roof. They easily made accommodations for a guest that was gluten free. The sea food was very fresh and the steak was cooked perfectly. The service was very informative and the atmosphere was unmatched as it was within a private wine cellar. Highly recommend for special occasions.

On a vacation/work trip recently we had a late dinner at Coast restaurant. We were lucky to be able to sit outside thanks to the beautiful evening and the added comfort of there heaters. I have celiac disease, so always have to be extra careful when eating out. I was pleasantly surprised by the number of options I had and our waitress was amazing! Shout out to Sam for guiding me through all my options to keep me safe. She was super careful to triple check with the chef to make sure I had a very good and safe experience. Her charm, knowledge of the food and pleasant personality, elevated our experience.
Service was great! They were super accommodating of my gluten and dairy allergies. Defiantly a spot of fresh seafood. The oysters were great, steaks cooked perfectly.

The experience at Dolly's was disappointing. Even though the portion doesn't look that small in the picture, I ate a starter and a main course, spent almost $40 and wasn't full! Personally, I found the tzatzik served too sour, but that's a matter of taste, but the fries definitely shouldn't be dark and dry like these were. The service was inattentive and unable to serve my table neighbor gluten-free food, even though it's on the menu.
Based on my current assessment, I would unfortunately not recommend the restaurant.
Enjoy a lively atmosphere with rave reviews for the delicious culinary offerings and attentive service, perfect for a fun night out.

I am on the search for restaurants that offer GF anything. (I am not celiac). I was pleasantly surprised to see they had GF buns on offer for the burger ($3 up charge). With this up charge my expectations were high. When the burger arrived it looked unusual with white spots on the top, shriveled and flat. All for research I thought give it shot… it was horrible the bun was freezer burned, the beef in the burger was dry and bland, no sauce! thank goodness for ketchup that I added!
I would say this was the worst burger ever! I let the waiter know it was horrible. His comment was I will let the “chef” know and then started to explain to me how buns get freezer burn! He missed one point it properly was at the bottom of the freezer for a VERY long time. If you can’t serve a good GF bun don’t offer it!
The burger for $25 not worth the price every with out the GF. As I ate the beef only. I should have complained more but I did not
A word to the chef/cook If it’s freezer burned don’t serve it!
Delicious, unique fish and chips with a twist that brings back great memories for many, making it a must-try experience!

Unfortunately this is the last time I will ever go to Bow and Stern not only did I receive horrendous service, but my grandmother was berated and talked down to, was over talked and treated as if she was stupid, and I was heavily lied to, to my face.
The server was a male, I'm not sure his name, I asked him the gf options and recalled to ask if they are celiac safe, was told they are, have a small section of the kitchen for gf options, and went to ask the chef of the few dishes I could have. So I came in the next day for lunch and it was awful.
The server had zero idea what gf (gluten free) was, kept telling me I'm wrong and yes bleached white flour IS gf, I'm just making a problem... (also no, bleached white flour is not gf, in ANY TYPE of regard). He then said nothing is gf and to stop asking for attention for a fake illness and just pick something. I was beyond disgusted, I still tried to be nice and asked if he could ask another server or the chef what I CAN eat, because all the options I was told was apparently not real options.... so he came back 30 mins later after i had to hound him down, he rolled his eyes and said a few options FULL of gluten, or a plain green small salad no dressing, i could habe a lemon... we left but not before he was awful to my grandma who has been with me before there and have eaten there, with no problems.
Apparently they no longer offer gf fish and chips, gf torilla chips for dip, gf salads!?!? Like huh... or anything else. They don't have a section safe for gf and as he said, "lady we really dont care about your so called allergies, or any of them, we lie, we make enough from both locations, ive been here long enough" he rolled his eyes and he walked away. My grandma was in shock and even she refuses to go back and she would go once a week at least with friends.... this might be just this server, but I'm in disbelief. I wasn't going to make a review but 2 to 3 nights ago my friend went who is gf as well, doctor diagnosed, it's been super hard for her, she was told items were gf and they were not. She spent two straight days throwing up blood, and issues. This is literally hurting people, so I came here to put my experience from 3 ish weeks ago and my friends 2 to 3 days ago.
IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES, DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!!!!!!
Please do better or train your staff. I will not be back or will ever recommend here to anyone, I'm beyond thrown off from this and after speaking to some family, friends, and co workers, this location has really gone to the dogs. I'm not the only one.
No one with allergies should ever have to deal with this, I did my work and called before hand, asked questions to be answered by the chef, asked what I need to say for gf, etc... Dont offer gf, vegan, or vegetarian dishes if you can't make sure you can honor the allergies. This is so unsafe, and someone can literal end up in a hospital.
Please do better.
Stunning views elevate every visit here, complemented by an impressive selection of wines and an unforgettable atmosphere.

This was our first visit, and I'm happy to see some newer restaurants in Whistler widening the choice. Really liked the feel of the place walking in, contemporary enough and still cosy. The menu had decent choices for the most part and they were able to accommodate changes for Gluten and dairy reasonably well. No accommodation possible for desert asside from Sorbet. The food was good but missed the mark when considering the price point. Wine selection was in line with high end dining. Overall we had a good time despite some hiccups with the service. Would visit again but probably not until we have explored other recent additions to Whistler's list of restaurants.
Enjoy stunning water views and great seafood options, but be ready for a wait as lines can get long, especially on busy days.

Super disappointed. The steak is not aged for 28 days. Maybe 10. The carrots were soggy, the mushrooms old. The steak was cut with the grain. Makes for a tough piece of meat. The mashed potatoes were old and overmixed which causes them to turn glutenous and shiny. Hugely disappointed. Dessert perfect because it is brought in from somewhere else. That was the sticky toffee pudding. You never know who might be eating at your restaurant. I am a trained Red Seal Chef with a fussy palette. However there is no excuse for laziness in the kitchen. The food should always be number 1.

I’ve lived in the PNW for almost 6 years, and this was by far one of the most delicious, memorable meals I’ve had here. We had the Seven Stones Chardonnay paired with the ultimate seafood chowder with gluten free (for me) and regular bread (for my bf), followed by the crème brûlée. Every piece of this experience was absolutely perfect, and I WILL come back when I visit Tofino again.
Nice setting and was excited by the menu ahead of going. Wouldn’t recommend to someone who cannot eat gluten and/or dairy. Options were limited and disappointing, making for a bit of a lacklustre meal and mediocre experience overall. I wish I had called ahead to discuss options rather than just reading the menu which appeared to be relatively not gluten or dairy heavy. I do see an automated reply from the restaurant replying to the rather frequent poor reviews recently so I expect that rather than a personalized one, seems fitting.

Some of the wait staff were completely clueless about food allergies, my partner is celiac so this was very worrying. They served him a small piece of fish and a half a raw pepper with a weird gf mango cilantro salsa for $50, would not recommend. There was way too much black pepper and raw garlic in the mussels, and I really like pepper and garlic!
For a celiac there were limitations on what I could eat so I chose the seafood stew and flourless chocolate cake. Both were AMAZING and the service was excellent. It's no wonder my grandparents wanted to share this lovely gem with me when I visited from Alberta.
With a vibrant atmosphere and a solid range of tasty options, this spot prioritizes allergies and ensures a great dining experience.

I had dinner with my parents here this evening, and the food was as exceptional as the service. All three of us ordered seafood dishes, and everything was cooked to absolute perfection. They were very accommodating for my father who has Celiac disease (so he can't have gluten). And I watched all evening as our server, Cody waited on multiple tables at a time, not once stopping to take notes—all the while maintaining super attentive service and accuracy of our orders. At one point, my father needed to run to the car to grab some medication he'd forgotten, and Cody offered, unprompted, to put his entrée under a heat lamp until he returned. This is probably the nicest dinner we've had in a long time, and that was due to the extremely skilled chefs in the kitchen and the amazing service we received at our table. We will definitely be back next time we're in the area!!
Unrelated: The hand soap in the women's restroom smells amazing!
Thank you so much for a truly incredible evening, Cody! We'll definitely have to take you on a spin on our yacht when we save up enough to buy one!! 😂

This is my favourite place in Vancouver. Every time I come here I smile ear to ear the whole time.
The staff are so friendly and genuinely all so happy to be there, and they all really like each other to boot. You feel like you’re just being welcomed into someone’s family.
Tunes are always on point - you’ll find yourself dancing at the bar while you watch the expert shucking happening in front of you. The food is always 10/10. Garlic prawns and shucked oysters are my go to as a no gluten human. Snoop is perhaps one of the best service industry people we’ve ever met.
Atmosphere wise - everyone’s friends: you will get to know the person next to you and you’ll be happier and better for it. Today we spent 1.5 socializing with the people on either side of us and left with hugs.
Every time you leave here energized, well fed and happy af. The best spot in Vancouver without a doubt

Amazing Experience at Bow & Stern Brentwood
Visited Bow & Stern in Brentwood on January 11, and we were blown away by the experience. The service from Maddy and Bonnie was exceptional—they were attentive, friendly, and made the evening so enjoyable.
We tried several dishes, and everything was absolutely delicious.
1. Lobster Mac & Cheese: Rich, saucy, and indulgent—this was our favourite dish of the night.
2. Tomato Prawn Linguini: We opted for gluten-free pasta, and it was incredible! The texture was perfect, and you couldn’t even tell it was gluten-free.
3. Steak & Prawns with Chimichurri Sauce: The steak was cooked to perfection—tender, flavourful, and paired beautifully with the chimichurri.
4. Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos: A generous portion that's both large and filling, served with a side of crispy fries.
5. B&S Roll: So fresh and delicious—it’s a must-try for sushi lovers.
Highly recommend this spot for the food, service, and overall experience. Can’t wait to come back!
