This is a MUST GO for people with celiac. I had the best experience. They have a gluten free menu, just have to ask for it. And it has plenty of options from the main menu that you can have. Our waiter was very thoughtful and even put my husband’s croutons on the side of his salad just in case we shared it. When my food came each time, he acknowledged the safety of my meal to me. The place is a little upscale but laid back at the same time.

Highly recommend! The manager personally takes allergy orders and notes them on a large red slip, making sure they’re handled with care. There are so many gluten-free options available, way more than you’d typically find at most places. And did not get sick. These are the (small) nachos with grilled chicken. Super yummy.

WOW!! LOVE!! came here from Ohio on vacation and will be back before we leave in a week (lol). Paige was amazing, attentive & came back at the perfect times. She offered a gluten free menu to me & manager Chris was HILARIOUS & so kind, would come back just to see Chris. Amazing food and atmosphere.

I love Creole dishes and rarely get to enjoy them since being gluten free due to health reasons. We found Madisons on the gluten free app and are so grateful we did! Madison’s has a very expansive menu of gluten free options including their breaded items (hello crab cakes!). We had a fabulous meal with both the service and food quality being top notch. Madison’s brought so much joy back to dining and was a highlight of our trip to the Beaufort area. Highly recommend!

Excellent food and friendly staff. And if you need to be gluten free, this is the place! Almost there whole menu is gluten free, even crab cakes. And they have options for a lot of the other items to make it "gluten free friendly" if it's not gf already. The cocktails were delicious and had a nice variety. Everything was fresh, well seasoned, and cooked to perfection. Our server Rhonda was kind and helpful with both recommendations and my allergy needs. We will definitely be back.

Excellent! Our family of five loved everything that we ordered! We have a daughter with a gluten allergy (Celiac Disease) and she enjoyed the fried shrimp so much! She is always so excited when there is a dedicated GF fryer to enjoy safe, fried GF options. She had no reaction afterwards and asked to go back again. Thank you!

An all around spectacular meal. First the service was first class from the greeting and seating to the table service. Every single dish was fantastic but the Beef Carpaccio and BBQ Tuna really stood out. Great selection of Gluten Free options on the menu, very accommodating. DEDICATED FRYER!!! That should say enough for you to get over there! But, their bang bang shrimp (crispy gluten free tempura battered, fried in a dedicated fryer) was delicious! With a sweet Thai chili and spicy mayo drizzle. The fish tacos (gf battered, fried fish - or can be grilled) with a creamy slaw and corn tortillas served with crispy fry/chips were awesome! I had seen a review talking about lack of flavor - don’t listen to that. Could it use a pinch more salt? Sure. But it was incredibly flavorful, hot and so deliciously crispy, GF fried fish and shrimp! Wonderful experience! I recommend putting in a reservation to sit on the deck to make sure you get a spot outside!

Second night in Charleston celebrating our tenth anniversary. Hanks definitely met the high expectations we had of good seafood in Charleston! I ordered the flounder and the flavor was out of this world! My husband ordered the oysters casino as an appetizer which were a “ decadent delight” as he described them. For his entree he ordered the grouper which was a tender but meaty and delicious entree! Our server, Drew, was very attentive and pleasant. There was a separate gluten free menu with many options. Both of our main entrees were GF.

I have celiac and am very sensitive to gluten. The waitress was fantastic and asked right from the beginning about allergies. She had brought out their complimentary tuna dip with crackers. After I told her about the celiac thing she apologized for the crackers and offered to replace it with celery as a side instead of the crackers. My plate was a bright blue color to make sure everyone knew. The food was delicious and the green beans were amazing. I felt very comfortable with everyone’s knowledge and how careful they were. The waitress told me that all of the restaurants in barefoot landing have a very vigorous training and methods put in place for patrons with allergies. I am happy to say I had no reactions from eating there.

I’m from out of town, and I had two goals in coming to Charleston: find southern food to try and do so with my gluten allergy. I was pleasantly surprised by Grace and Grits. The staff was excellent from hostess to server. The manager actually read my notes in Resy (gluten free, alcohol free, and wanting a booth) and communicated the notes to the server. When greeting us, the server communicated gluten free options, as well as alcohol free options. The alcohol free prosecco was one of the best I’ve tasted. The chef actually prepared a separate gluten free gravy for the shrimp and grits dish. Everything was delicious, and my only sadness is that they’re not open on Mondays for when I go back to Charleston to fly home.

Great little place with a nice selection on the menu. They do accommodate gluten-free although it's not their specialty. You can get a $6 yuengling draft or pay as much as you want for mixed drinks. They truly have something for everyone.

The food was really good! I’d go there again! We’re here on vacation and we’ll check it out next time we’re here. We had the mussels and clams as a starter and the sauce it came with (lemon/saffron) was awesome. As soon as we finished our starter the main courses came in as if they were waiting for us to finish. But, it was all hot and fresh, scallops and seafood pasta, yumm! Highly recommend! Gluten free options available and marked on the menu.

This is the perfect median between an upscale fish restaurant and a local dive bar. Food was AMAZING! It is family owned and you MUST sit outside on the dock. I WILL be going back next time I'm on HHI. We arrived a little after 5 pm & had about a 20-minute wait. We sat in the bar, had a couple of great drinks, & enjoyed talking to the bartender. Food was reasonably priced and high quality. I'm gluten free and they were very conscientious of my needs.

I have celiac and am very sensitive to gluten therefore I get nervous when it comes to eating out. The waiter was very nice and asked about any allergies. I told him I was celiac and he told me that there were several item on the bar that were gluten free or I could just order off the menu and they would prepare it in the back. He gave me an allergy card and told me I could look around the bar and someone would point out the GF items or, there was a QR code on the allergy card that depending on my allergy, it would list what I could and couldn’t have on the bar. Personally, I was nervous about the bar situation and chose play it safe and order food from the menu. I ordered a steak, loaded baked potato, and side salad. Everything was delicious. I will comment that I eventually broke down and did eat the (GF) rice pudding from the bar and it was perfect. I am almost 24 hours out and have not had a reaction so I was very impressed.

Service was very slow and hard to get a hold of servers for assistance. I have a gluten allergy and checked with the waiter before ordering and specified- reminded him of my gluten allergy with each course and every single plate I got had gluten on it- first my salad with crunchy toppings fried in the fryer with gluten items, then my crab dip had bread crumbs on it. It was very disappointing and also scary to get one dish after another with gluten in or on it. Additionally every single person at the table finished their drinks and the server was no where to be found for 30-45 minutes. I was with a large group celebrating a friend so did not make a fuss. Both dishes were sent back and fixed. Appreciate that but not the level of service I expect from an establishment like this.

I have celiac and wanted something gluten free. Came at dinner and had the gluten free burger! Wow! The gluten free bun actually stayed together! Which is rare!!!! The gluten free carrot cake was to die for!!!! I was so full but kept eating! It’s not common for me to find a good gluten freer burger or dessert and tonight I did! So happy! Ask them to make sure to toast your bun! You’re welcome!

Our server Samya D at the Forest Dr location was wonderful!!! She knew her menu , checked back several times and was so pleasant!! Because our goal this vacation was to try restaurants that we have never been to , we decided to put WiseGuys on the list. Wow! So glad we made that decision and wish we had done it sooner. The service was exceptional and the food was some of the best we have ever had on the Island. Gluten free Pizza, Blackened catch (which was swordfish) and Scallops with mushroom risotto were our entrees. WiseGuys is known for its Steaks, but we did not go wrong with our selections. We will definitely be back!

Our server was wonderful and asked right up front if there was anyone with food sensitivities or allergies. I am allergic to wheat and she pointed out all the dishes that were gluten-free and the ones that could be modified for me. I had the crab salad and it was delicious. The Lemon Blueberry Crème Brûlée was scrumptious! It was a beautiful evening for outdoor seating. I will definitely visit again!

Started out good enough and waiter seemed fine, until we got to the question regarding gluten free options…..I suppose ignorance is bliss and some may have heard of celiacs disease and just go along to get along, but by 2024 you might think most food establishments might understand that people are being poisoned , literally from gluten, so some attention to this matter is dire need here….cant be guessing which may or may not be ok to eat. Overall the food was good, but the service was very, very, very slow. Being told the kitchen got slammed at 9:30 pm when the restaurant was 3/4 empty is hard to believe and if the chef/ kitchen can’t handle it , then just don’t take the reservation. There are plenty of other places to go that were open later. Also, being told several items were 86ed right after being told they were available just shows the wheels are moving but the gears are disconnected.

Great for lunch or dinner! All of their fish dishes can be broiled. They have quite a few salads and all of their sandwiches can be made without the bun. The Salmon BLT is amazing! They do not have a dedicated fryer, so no fries or sweet potato fries if you have celiac.

This was our first time at Wicked Tuna and we already can’t wait to go back. I have been gluten free for about 4 years and that typically means unseasoned protein and steamed vegetables when you eat out. Everything we ordered was amazing and so flavorful! They even had spicy mayo, and gluten-free Soy sauce. The surf and turf was awesome, and the steak was incredibly tender. My husband had shrimp and grits, which he reported to also be great. We had the Oysters Rockefeller and a specialty tuna roll both if which were great. We will definitely eat here again!
