A superb experience at this restaurant, which offers gluten-free options with Sicilian specialties, from starters to desserts.
Very good, friendly staff, and very reasonable prices.
I recommend it.
Even though we have been customers for a long time, last night apart from the appetizers, I ate a horrible gluten-free pizza, the edge was very high, about 4 cm, the raw food was inedible and the pizza inside was also raw and tiny in size. I complained about everything, and the answer was we will tell the pizza chef to lower the edge. In addition, for each course they put a supplement of 2 euros for gluten-free, not only for the pizza which I can understand, but for each appetizer including the sorbet a celiac pays 2 euros more per course, shameful.
A restaurant with excellent food and many gluten-free options. The family atmosphere is very pleasant. We ordered Pasta alla Norma and gluten-free Tortellini.
My friend and I ate here. Mine was gluten free, Incredible! I couldn’t tell and I also couldn’t finish it. I’ve never not been able to finish my pizza. So tasty! Would recommend
Was voted one of the top 50 pizza places in Italy in 2024.
10/10. Best gluten free pizza we have had in a while! So so good. The simpler pizza we had was tastier than the Innovazione pizza we had (Diavola was more flavoursome than the Spilinga). Atmosphere is beautiful- the outside area is gorgeous and the interior is classy and rustic. Attentive service, too. Can't go wrong. If you're a caeliac especially, please give this place a try! Pizzas are between €9- €16, with an additional €2.50 charge for gluten free dough.
Delicious food and excellent variety of food. Including desserts.
But the staff isn’t trained!! The waiter brought my gluten free pizza in the same hand with gluten pizza directly touching it!!
Plate with gluten pizza was on my plate with gluten free pizza
Small but nice place, welcoming atmosphere, we took 1 gluten-free appetizer, 1 gluten-free pizza with tomato, buffalo mozzarella, bacon and parmesan flakes, and 2 with gluten, 1 Zarina and 1 Margherita. As far as I'm concerned it was the best gluten-free pizza I've ever tasted before... absolutely satisfied
I got a gluten-free and dairy-free cake due to an intolerance not only to gluten but also to casein. A pleasant, tasty and wonderful experience because I would have challenged anyone to notice the difference from a normal cake. Taste experience far beyond the wildest expectations. A balance of flavors and goodness appreciated by all. My compliments to the creator of this wonderful dessert. Fabio Leo
Perfectly glutenfree burger bun. Perfect taste of the meat, the sauces, and the fries. Maybe I have to eat another one just because they're so yummy, I was too hungry to take a food pic for you, and because the personnel is so kind and helpful and let me read the ingredients of the bun to satisfy my - absolutely unnecessary - paranoia. 10/10
Gluten-free, no problem!
I had spaghetti with lobster from the daily special. It was super delicious and very plentiful. There was a whole lobster on the plate, with plenty of boned pieces in the creamy sauce. Luckily, I didn't have an appetizer, so it's a shame I missed the desserts. A sommelier comes to the table and annoys me with the wine selection. For this quality, the price is more than justified. Highly recommended; please make a reservation in advance.
Disappointing experience overall
We walked around 40 minutes to get to the restaurant, so we were really looking forward to it – but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations. The staff were quite rude, and when we sat under a fan (it was hot), we were asked to move.
The food was just okay. The carbonara was extremely salty, and the pistachio pasta with burrata came with a tiny burrata – not what you'd expect for the price. Also worth noting: there’s an extra €2 charge per dish for gluten-free options, and they don’t serve café americanos.
Wouldn’t go out of my way for it again.
I was enchanted by the gastronomic magic and evocative atmosphere of the "'A Castellana" restaurant, located in a panoramic square under the majestic Caccamo castle. Its interior, furnished with ancient tools, creates a welcoming atmosphere rich in history, perfect for an unforgettable culinary experience.
The restaurant staff proved to be extremely attentive and attentive to customer needs, helping to make the experience even more pleasant.
We began our gastronomic journey with an appetizer of high quality cured meats and cheeses, which conquered our palate with authentic and delicious flavours.
The first courses, a risotto with porcini mushrooms and tagliatelle with sauce and wild boar ragout, were a real delight. The mastery in the preparation and the choice of ingredients made these dishes exceptional, demonstrating the chef's culinary skill.
The highlight was the grilled short rib, enriched with aromatics that added depth to the flavours. The meat was tender, succulent and perfectly cooked, confirming the mastery of "'A Castellana" cuisine.
We accompanied our dinner with an excellent frappato red wine from "Tenute Orestiadi", which was able to further enhance the flavors of the dishes.
A particularly appreciable aspect is the restaurant's willingness to adapt to customers' dietary needs, offering gluten-free options for those who suffer from intolerances.
As regards the quality-price ratio, I think the cost is normal, considering the quality of the dishes, the atmosphere and the impeccable service offered.
In conclusion, our experience at "'A Castellana" was exceptional in every aspect. We look forward to returning to experience more culinary delights and enjoy the warm hospitality of this charming restaurant.
Beautiful and well-kept location, large parking lot, green space and playground for children.
Very polite staff and attentive to the needs of others, allergies, intolerances... my.prepared on the subject of celiac disease. Excellent food and especially the gluten free one.
Not to mention the desserts, one better than the other.
I highly recommend both for the location and for the food. Excellent experience.
Today we went to the squirrel restaurant, everything was delicious! We booked once we got there and since it was late we had the 2.30pm shift, we waited a bit but it was worth the wait especially because their entire menu can also be had gluten-free, which is absolutely not a given for those with celiac disease: hot bread to accompany the starter, pasta, main course and even desserts and... the same price as the normal menu! Friendly staff and welcoming place, see you soon!
Very atmospheric and pleasant place, in the very center. The choice fell on it, because of the presence of a choice of allergens (decaf coffee, gluten-free, etc.). Everything was very tasty, clean and pleasant service. The place is not cheap, breakfast for two was offended by 73 euros (rather it is our fault, since we wanted to try everything, tomorrow we will definitely come back and I think we will cut the bill in half, since we will already clearly know what we want). I highly recommend
I have been there several times and I also celebrated my daughter's baptism.
The location maintains that rustic and historical touch but at the same time very elegant. The food, the service, the atmosphere are fantastic... every time I go there it is truly a pleasure. In addition, there is also a beautiful outdoor space where children can play.
Last but not least, my wife is celiac and still manages to eat lots of delicious things without ever having had any problems.
Highly recommended!! Go there and you will not regret it
My brother asked for Gluten Free food and the food came with crumbs of bread on his dish. And 5 minutes after that a server comes and spill barbecue sauce on my white shirt. He doesn’t tell me sorry nor tells me that he dropped anything on me. Unacceptable. In the End we even had to pay for the dish.
We had a great evening here on Monday me and my wife choice the restaurant as it did a lot of gluten free for the wife so she had a great selection to choose from . Service was good could not do enough for you and the food was really good as you can see in one of photos for starters the wife had gluten free bruschetta was really good bread was soft and crispy on the outside , for main I had the fish fry prawns , fish , squid was tasty. We were sat inside chatting to a local man we were for ages having a laugh would highly recommend.
Among the best pizzerias in the city and with particular attention to celiac disease and lactose intolerance.
Super nice environment with rooms all furnished differently (the one with the monkeys is beautiful). The tented exterior is welcoming, and in summer you can breathe the air of the garden on Piazza Sant'Oliva.
The selection of wines and beers available is excellent.
I highly recommend trying Palino.
All very good, even gluten-free, it's best to let them know a day in advance so you can also enjoy the mixed fried food and bread.
I recommend asking for prices displayed on the board.
LEEVITA ... the love for pizza.
You know! We Neapolitans are always attentive to pizza because we consider it as a "UNESCO HERITAGE" and it cannot be missing, at least weekly, on our tables... every time we visit a city, it is normal to have the desire to respect this "tradition".. In Cefalù, at Lievita, we found a pizza with excellent raw materials combined with a very light dough, seasoned with love and the smell of the sea (the pizzeria being just a few meters from the seafront).
Of no small importance is the delicacy of gluten-free pizza with an excellent dough and excellent cooking which, as we know, is not always easy to obtain.
Clean and welcoming environment.
Attentive and friendly service that always makes you feel at home.
THANK YOU.
English: We went to the tavern for dinner, the staff were very kind and super helpful in explaining the dishes. One of us was celiac but had no problem because they have gluten-free pasta, the same for main courses and appetizers. Phenomenal food, pasta full of sauce and really generous portions: a first course was enough for two people, but because of the goodness we literally cleaned the plates (even though in our opinion they were 180/200 grams of pasta). We also had white wine and mixed appetizers with olives, caponata, sweet and sour pumpkin and milk croquettes, all delicious. I highly recommend the place to anyone passing through Palermo also for the characteristic Sicilian atmosphere given by the furniture that I found to be the icing on the cake to the delicious food. For 4 of us we spent about €20 each with a large appetizer, 1 enormous first course each, wine, water and coke, a price that I find very fair for the good food and service offered
We stumbled upon it for dinner, they have many gluten-free options including pizzas, fried fish and fresh busiate! All the staff were very kind and helpful!
Very welcoming place with a warm and relaxing atmosphere, I highly recommend it to anyone with gluten intolerance!
Congratulations, never change, you are a point of reference for those who find themselves passing through Termini Imerese!
Quiet environment surrounded by nature a few km from Palermo and Monreale. Large, well-lit room, tables outside and a small play area under the olive trees (accessible via an external staircase). Excellent and quality food. We celebrated my parents' anniversary and had a great time. I recommend the sandwiches with porchetta, sfincia with mortadella and pistachio, tagliatelle with wild boar ragù (very special), very tender legs of guinea fowl stuffed with mushrooms and potatoes. Almond and cream parfait cake. You can order almost everything gluten-free, take the food to go and eat it sitting at the tables outside. In the evening they make pizza with light and delicious dough. Naturally also gluten-free. Craft beers. Good gluten-free beer.
We book our table for Saturday evening on TheFork. Once we arrive on site we wait a few minutes and they make us sit at our table. The room is welcoming and large. The service is very fast and efficient, attentive to celiacs and they welcome every customer request, satisfying and pampering them. We will return to eat in this little oasis again during the week.
This place was recommended by a local, the food is delicious and authentic yet with a twist. It is mainly Neapolitan pizzas but also gluten free options for all!
MUST EAT in Palermo if you’re looking for Italian pizza!
Also the service is extremely professional, special thanks to Samuel for his sweet care!
A place found by chance in the historic center of Palermo, but a little away from the main streets, due to the possibility of eating some gluten-free dishes. I must say that it met expectations: I ate a delicious mussel soup (served with gluten-free bread on the side) and spaghetti with sea urchins, with good seasoning but unfortunately a little overcooked. Honest bill and generous portions, fairly fast service, air conditioning throughout.
Bad communication in the kitchen room.
Little seriousness and little attention.
I asked if there was lactose in a product and was told that it was lactose-free, but this did not guarantee the absence of contamination. Not even 10 minutes after finishing dinner I felt ill inside the restaurant, even though I have a mild lactose intolerance for which the contamination has no effect, even attracting the attention of a doctor who advised me to go to the emergency room due to the severity of my condition. Nothing but contamination! The product contained lactose in high quantities and I felt ill for the following days.
We also called in the afternoon to find out if they had gluten-free products and they assured us they had pasta. In the evening, however, they told us they didn't have gluten-free pasta, which they however recovered following our complaints.
Cozy atmosphere, a bit mountain hut style. The staff are fantastic. It feels at home! Unfortunately, being celiac, I cannot taste the food, but they always try to accommodate me with cocktails, studying solutions suitable for my pathology. Thanks always! 🩷
PS. A real shame not to be able to taste their dishes, because they look amazing! The pizza is mouth watering and the meat is no different!
Couldn’t recommend more! We visited 3 out of 4 days that we stayed in Isola delle femmine. Such lovely service, food was amazing and they also do an AMAZING gluten free pizza! I really struggled finding somewhere that caters for gluten free but this place was so accommodating. Aperol spritz’ were on point and we had a such a lovely time. Thankyou!!!
Except for president.
Stunning place: truly Sicilian dishes, very fresh fish, fresh pasta also for celiacs and an uncommon kindness from all the staff. Well done Salvo and all his staff. I forgot: the cellar is extraordinary.
Go there. We will be back.
Worst place for any gluten free food. The fish was dry and inedible. Gluten free bread provided was burnt and hard as a rock. The service was terrible and no one cared at all - purely a tourist trap for charging ridiculous prices for horrible food. Don’t even bother.
I discovered this place by chance a year ago. The food is excellent with a wide choice even gluten-free. All the staff are kind and welcoming, especially the girl who, from day one, helped me with gluten-free choices, always attentive, kind and professional. The menu is very varied and the products are well made, with quality ingredients. Over the year I have brought several guests here, all satisfied!
Lots of gluten free choices (fish burger, panelle, dessert) much appreciated. Smiling and kind staff, tables overlooking the sea perfect for the summer.
Celebrated a birthday. Dinner with the classic pizza tour. Very helpful staff and welcoming place. Very good food. We also requested gluten-free products which were promptly served.
Very nice and well-kept place. Attentive, kind service and also available for food intolerances and gluten-free.
Dishes that are beautiful to look at and delicious on the palate, well prepared, tasty and with well-valued local products. Excellent wine list. 5 stars absolutely deserved!
Incredible pizza, made from rice flour and just 12% gluten in the base. Delicious toppings, the base was crunchy and crispy and yet deep and squidgy at the same time! Well worth a visit and such incredible value. Two pizzas, two Diet Cokes and two glasses of wine, just £22!
Nice place, beautiful location ...
Amazing food, abundant and special.
As a first time I was very happy with the special attention received for gluten free.
Absolutely to try both the restaurant and the pizzeria with and without gluten.
Ideal for small receptions, among other things with attention to detail
