Wow! Really enjoyed everything about Vela, I can’t believe I waited so long to try it! Went tonight for an anniversary dinner, and was very impressed with the food, service, and vibes. They are so accommodating for gluten free, the pasta was delicious and there was something to choose from throughout the whole menu that was gluten free! Only item pictured that wasn’t gluten free was the burrata canestri pasta. Missing was the gf brownie which was also so yummy!
I've been here a few times for brunch and to get their pastries.
There is some seating inside but the patio is much larger.
I got one of their bagel sandwiches (big new Yorker) with a side and it was pretty average, they didn't give me much salmon. Price was on par with a nicer brunch spot.
I've also had their chocolate croissants, it was pretty big and inexpensive, but nothing special.
They have gluten free and matzo (kosher) options too
Service is ok
Brooklyn and Brandon took care of us for dinner one evening and they exceeded all customer service expectations! The atmosphere was inviting, warm, and always positive. Both Brandon and Brooklyn anticipated our needs of what we wanted without having to ask! Could not recommend the food or service anymore. The octopus, caprese, and penne alla vodka was superb. Would definitely come back and recommend :) The wine was also excellent and dietary restrictions were friendly as I am gluten intolerant!
We went to SARA to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The enviroment and vibe is super cute ( it looks like a cave inside). The service was also amazing. We all opted for the tasting menu ( 89$) and it was a magical experience. One of our friends is pescatarian and another one is Gluten sensitive. It was impressive to see each dish for those two was made with their dietary restrictions in mind, while we got to enjoy all the dishes. We got Theo and Espresso Martinis for drinks and they were really good too. The tasting menu started with the cheese bread . Then we had IKURA LATKES and Tuna tartare. The next items were hamachi sashimi and the chopped salad. The salad was phenomenal. I think we all agreed that the salad was in fact the best salad we ever had. We next tried the Reuben sandwich and green beans. I really liked how crispy the bread was on the Reuben sandwich. We then tried the eggplant which was also really good and the scallop tempura. The NY striploin and the sea bass were brought together with Brussels sprouts. The steak was out of this world delicious!!! If I were to return to this restaurant for only one dish it will likely be the steak. The sea bass was delicious too. Everything we tried was perfectly seasoned and so delicious. The dessert was also really tasty. Overall a great experience. I will definitely visit again. Their sister restaurant RASA is also equally good and you should check it out if you haven’t already :)
Great food and vibes, and the location is superb, of course. My only feedback is that I’d love to see more cider and gluten-free options on the menu. While it's nice that most pastas can be substituted with gluten-free penne, it would be even better to have another gluten-free pasta option that isn’t penne. Gluten-free farfalle, for example, would be a fantastic addition to your menu.
We made a reservation for my friend's birthday on a Saturday evening - we had to change the number of people a few times and that was done easily by phone call.
There are stairs required to get to this bar. The music is loud, lighting is dim.
Service was amazing, we got free prosecco for my friend's birthday, and we were added to the guest list for the bar upstairs. The hosts and servers helped us take pictures and were so attentive/friendly. They even let us switch from a table to a nicer booth.
The food here is small and pricey, but tasted good. I tried the gluten free mushroom pizza, fries, prawn tacos, Calamari, and chicken bites. The mixed drinks were very good.

We had an absolutely fantastic experience at Baro a couple of years ago, so we were really looking forward to going back last night — this time post my fiancé’s celiac diagnosis. Unfortunately, this visit was a huge disappointment.
For starters, there is no legend or indication on the menu of which dishes are gluten-free. Thankfully, our server was excellent and took the time to walk us through the options. However, there were extremely limited choices — only one large plate option (also the most expensive dish), steaks starting at $95, and just four small plate options that could be made gluten-free.
We decided to order three small plates to share — which turned out to be shockingly small portions. It would’ve taken double or triple what we ordered just to feel remotely full. When we asked if one of the other large plates could simply be made gluten-free by removing the sauce, we were told the chef “really didn’t recommend it” because it would alter the flavour, and there were no alternative sauces (which made little sense since other sauces clearly exist for other dishes).
In total, for 3 tiny small plates (essentially appetizers), chips with guac & salsa, tuna ceviche, beef tartare, 1 cocktail, and 1 glass of sparkling wine, our bill was $115 before tip — and we left still very hungry.
We were so disappointed — especially with how unwilling the kitchen was to accommodate a very common dietary restriction like celiac. The experience was the opposite of our first visit, and sadly we will absolutely not be returning and would not recommend Baro to anyone with dietary needs or restrictions.
Such service, such food. So helpful and accommodating. Happily supported our gluten free and fructose allergies. Amazing, amazing restaurant. Worth every penny.
We came here for my best friends birthday & we were served by Robin (Robyn?) who was the bestest server EVER! She took care of us for dinner and then arranged us to have the best corner booth right by the Dj! She was a great vibe & so attentive! My only bad feedback about the venue is PLEASE PLAY BETTER MUSIC love you everything else was perfect otherwise & my gluten free pizza was so delicious!!
I thoroughly enjoyed my recent dining experience at Jacob's.
I celebrated my birthday here with my bestie this past Friday night. We got the Chef's tasting. My bestie liked the Canada Prime Angus PEI the best, meanwhile I liked the Oakleigh Ranch Wagyu. The A5 was just a bit too rich. I like this option of trying a few different items and appreciate this option being on the menu.
We also got the duck fat fries. They were tasty but nothing particularly special about them. I wanted to do the caesar salad and the guests next to our table gave their stamp of approval, but due to my bestie's gluten intolerance, it wasn't an option for us. I will have to come back to try it.
The steaks were perfectly cooked. Very tasty all around. The service was impeccable. Someone came over and personally wished me a happy birthday which was very nice. We ended up skipping dessert but we were given a small complimentary butter tart which was delectable. Happy birthday was written in chocolate on the plate and that chocolate was delicious as well.
The muffins they sent us home with were very good. I got to have both given my bestie's GF intolerance.
Shout out to our server Kateryna. She was so knowledgeable, friendly, and endearing. She was sure to check with the chef about accommodating my friend's dietary restrictions and her suggestions were very helpful.
I look forward to my next occasion at Jacob's.
I have some food restrictions and this is a very good option for me since they have gluten free options and dairy free cheese! I really like the gluten free chicken. The pizza wasn’t my favorite but it’s good to have option.
If I could give 10 stars I would. Our server Krista was amazing. I have celiac disease - a severe gluten allergy, and she knew exactly what to recommend on the menu. I split the steak frites and rigatoni alla vodka with my friend. Both were incredible. The fries have a designated frier making them fully gluten free and they also have gluten free noodles. Everything was very fairly priced for the quality you’re receiving.
My group was also celebrating a birthday and they went above and beyond taking care of us, bringing him an amazing pavlova dessert - gluten free as well!
The ambiance and decor of the restaurant is absolutely stunning. They have a 5-7 happy hour as well and everyone at my table loved their cocktails!
Overall, I will definitely be returning and I would highly recommend to anyone (especially people with celiac)!!
Took my girl friend here for her birthday and we had a wonderful time. I have a few allergies and food sensitivities - nut and dairy allergy and I’m gluten-free. Our server Kenzie was incredible! From helping me navigate the menu, making sure everything anything I couldn’t have was removed or separated and was just a sweet human who made our night really great. The food was awesome, the views were beautiful. Will definitely be back this summer.
Incredible food and atmosphere. All the servers are so nice
GF - the staff were very helpful in explaining all the options that were, or could be modified, to be gluten free.
A lovely spot for drinks and a light meal. Gluten and dairy free options. Non alcoholic drinks as well. The service was friendly and professional. Views are really nice. Definitely will be back. Great place to watch the sunset in Toronto. Very pleasant atmosphere and good food and drinks
