Exceptional service! & Amazing gluten-free food! Had no reaction whatsoever! As someone with Celiac I felt confident eating here and staff was very knowledgeable!
Absolutely DELICIOUS tacos. OMG I wish I could teleport these to Boston. The cornbread was also so delicious!!
What drew me to this place was the fact that the menu only marks what HAS gluten instead of what can be made gluten-free, suggesting that the menu is quite expansive for gluten-free diners. While yes, it is, the caveat is that there is significant cross-contamination for fried items. So, I was lured by the taquitos, but the bartender told me that they’re fried in the same oil as other items that aren’t gluten-free, hence the cross-contamination. I think they should be more straightforward about this on the menu when one looks online ahead of time.
Otherwise an excellent experience with still some amazing choices.
great ambience and service. lots of gluten free options. loved everything i ordered (meat platter) but wish i got lamb instead of the beef kofte. i felt like the flavor was good but didn’t exactly jump out at me– especially in the stews. but the standout for me was the rice pudding!!! one of my favorite desserts of all time.

Food was amazing & our server, Jack, was really great. He helped direct me to the gluten free options, he was incredibly kind and checked in on our table throughout service.
We had the Chesapeake eggs Benedict, corn beef hash, and oysters. No complaints whatsoever.
Maybe it was the time of day, maybe my bar is lower because I am gluten free…but I loved it! I went around 2 on a weekday and was impressed by the ambiance, service, quality of beverage options and best of all…gluten free chicken and waffles?!!! Never have I ever. Unnecessarily pricey AF…but imo so is everything in DC, regardless of quality/quantify…so 🤷🏻♀️
The atmosphere/ambiance of the place is wonderful . The staff is also really kind! I loved that there was a bookstore inside the place. The food is really good and the price is reasonable. Also, for my muslim brother and sister out there, they serve halal chicken and meat as stated in the menu, which is really nice! There were also vegaterian options and gluten free options. Love it!
Love having a taste of South America in dc! Sometimes the arepas are a bit tougher than usual, but the flavors are always delicious and I love that they have sauces you can buy to take home. And so much gluten free!!
We were looking for a bite to eat after viewing the Phillips Collection. The menu lacks information for those on a gluten free or vegan diet. The dining area is small, crowded, and noisy. The tables were filled with young adults chatting away long after they finished eating (if they ate at all) so we had no choice but to stand or sit on the stairwell ledge. Otherwise the food and tea was enjoyable.
A pretty delicious meal. Came here as a group and had both vegetarian and gluten-free diners with us. We could get something we each desired here, and our server was fantastic. She handled all of our needs and then some. We were there early evening, and there were a few tables filled, but when we left, most tables were filled. We shared several appetizers, the skillet cornbread was delish, and the habanero butter added a nice kick. Both the avocado tartare and fried cauliflower were great, and the deviled crab egg looked good. I tried the Peruvian soup for my meal, and it came in a giant bowl filled with meat, potatoes, cheese, and a fried egg. I ate about half and brought the rest home. All of the others had great food and looked terrific. We were all too full for dessert, though the dessert menu had some delicious things.
Looking forward to coming here again in the future, and I highly recommend that you give this place a try.
Place was crowded and line organization was lacking. The gluten free options were limited but was able to find a few items that were tasty. Good for a quick grab and go meal if you are on the run…

We were referred here because of gluten free options. After getting here we were disappointed that our server said none of the sides were gluten free. 5 mins after being seated our server came back and said he was moved downstairs and we were left without a server at all. Literally NO ONE checked on us and had to flag someone down for a check. Worst service I have ever had. The music was so loud I couldn't hear my family speak. Hands down an awful experience! Food was just ok... two things were wrong but no one even came to check or make it right. Go somewhere else!
Gluten free person here! Had the gf chipper but overall felt disappointed- I think Georgetown cupcakes does a better gf cupcake. It was a bit dry and overly sweet.
We are gluten-free and dairy-free. If that's you, this may be a good option. Everything there is dairy-free, with some options also being gluten-free. Service is mid. If you call them, it often takes days for someone to answer or return a call. When you go in-person, the salesperson is knowledgeable but not necessarily warm. We've been several times for a sweet-giz. The brownies are moist and sweet (the one thats like a brownie sandwich with cream in the middle had more of a cake consistency and bot super moist like a brownie). The cookies that I've tried (oatmeal whoopie/cream pie and chocolate chip) were not very moist and only moderately sweet. I don't necessarily need a lot of sweetness, but my crew does, and they thought it was just ok. I recently ordered a birthday cake from them for my neice. After some back-and-forth and calling over 2 days, they accommodated our request to pick it up for hours earlier (they have a 72-hour pre-order rule, or something like that). Had someone answered our calls, it would've been easy to adjust the time, but i digress...
The cake was pretty, and the sweetness was on-point. However, it was a bit dry, though. I bake dairy-free and vegan desserts myself, so I know it can be tricky to get the moistness correct, so I'm hoping that they will tinker with their formula to make their items a bit more moist. We would come back bc dairy-free and gluten-free options are slim pickings (it's usually just one or the other), but I would just stick with the brownie.
I'm adding a photo of the cake, which was super cute. We purchased the toppers ourselves.
This restaurant has great atmosphere, really accommodating servers and really beautiful decor. We called ahead they do allow outside cake but we needed to bring our own serving materials so we came prepared cutlery, plates, and knives, but it turns out you only need bring a knife and cut it yourself to avoid the $3 per person cake fee that we learned about upon arrival. (On the phone they just said bring everything and they ended up bringing out plates and silverware??) But no cake fee was incurred so that was nice!
THE MENU did a great labeling of dietary restrictions cause our group had a celiac, nuts allergy, and dairy allergy separately which made it hard to share plates and eat family style as intended. However our server didn't know which dip was which on the sampler platter and we had a brave allergic and restriction-less soul figure it out but she wasn't sure other than the fishy one.
Also I had a coconut allergy and that ingredient wasn't listed but must have been in some of the dishes cuz my throat was a little itchy when I left.
However this is a fancy restaurant and I was disappointed in almost everything I tried. Dip platter was hit and miss the cauliflower was the best but it's hard to mess up cauliflower, the rice seemed like it had cloves in it, I wouldn't have ordered it if I'd noticed that in the ingredients list, the borek was most disappointing of all, and the portions where tiny. The beef noodles the meat was hard. My friend that ordered the lamb kebab seemed most happy and she's the only one who finished her portion without comments. I will say other people liked the borek and maybe Turkish neighbors at the dupont farmers market raised my expectations for that particular dish too high cuz they give me really good and big borek every week lol.
Price: We spent 50-100 per person that included a compulsory 20% tip but it would have been in the 35-40 range if we hadn't been covering for the birthday girls portion.
Was in DC for a couple of days and stopped by here for brunch on my last day. The place is located in CityCenterDC which is a cute stretch of restaurants and high end shops.
The place is small with some outside seating. You order your food and then grab a seat if dining in and they bring your food to you.
I ordered the large sweet berry waffle, which is essentially a regular sized waffle instead of a half waffle which you can also order. I also had the Nobility juice.
The juice ended up being more expensive than I thought. There is a charge for the juice and then an up charge for the size. It ended up costing me $12.95 ($9.95 + $3.00 for a medium size). The waffle was $15.95. I think that is too expensive for a drink.
It’s not easy to find gluten free vegan waffles and pancakes so whenever I run across them I order them. The waffle was tasty and the strawberries and blueberries were fresh. The Nobility juice was good. It definitely had a green taste to it as I suspected. I’m not a big fan of green juice, but felt I could use less sweetness since I was eating a waffle with fruit.
I would eat here again, but try a different juice and at a smaller size.
Everything here is fresh and delicious. So efficient and comfortable, and everyone who works here is so nice. Great place to work during the day or grab a meal with friends. So many options if you have a crowd with different preferences/restrictions and accommodates allergies (like gluten). Love!
I happened across this place on Google maps while I was looking for somewhere to have dinner for my birthday. It ended up being AMAZING! I can't say enough good things about the food, the service, the atmosphere. I loved our waiter, and everyone we interacted with was infallibly courteous and pleasant. And the food was incredible. We had the chef's choice menu. They were very flexible in providing gluten-free options, which is remarkable given that it's a prix-fixe menu. I'm pretty hard to please with food, but I ate everything they put in front of us and would have eaten more. Even the cocktail (the cucumber basil smash) was probably the best one I've ever had. Well done Nina May!
Had a great time here! I have celiac disease which can be very stressful when traveling. This place was suggested to me as they have protocols to avoid cross contamination. After placing my order a manager came over and said my waiter had let her know that I have an allergy/sensitivity and that they take it ver seriously. She said they work hard to ensure there is no cross contamination and that my food would come out with a red flag to confirm it is gluten free. This made me feel very comfortable as I didn’t even ask to talk to anyone they just did it! I had gluten free rigatoni alla vodka which was good. I was so happy with the service that I came back today for breakfast and had some of the best home fries I’ve ever had! Highly recommend this place, food, staff, and atmosphere are all great.
Absolutely recommend this place!! The cashier (Chris) was soo kind and helped me decide what to get. Got the grandezza and it was DELICIOUS!!
They had TWO options for gluten free (bread & bagel) which is stellar. The staff were having a great time and catering to guests needs - which created such a fun atmosphere! Lots of laughter and smiles which we love to see.
Will definitely be back to try more!!
Absolutely fabulous experience. Our waitress was wonderful, customizing our "tour of the world" to accommodate my gluten allergy. Every single dish we had was amazing.
If you are on a gluten free diet, this restaurant is a real treat. This is the ONLY restaurant I know of in the entire DC area that offers gluten free French toast!!! It is really yummy. It is gluten free cinnamon raison bread that they make into French toast. It is served with maple syrup that has few slices of bananas in it. It is always served warm. (Be sure to look for the bananas. If the French toast is served with sliced strawberries, that is the wheat based French toast.)
This restaurant also has gluten free bread so most of their sandwiches can be made gluten free upon request. And they can make their eggs benedict gluten free by using their gluten free toast.
It is a very pleasant experience dining here. I usually dine outside. They are located on a small street in Georgetown. Georgetown can be crowded but on this small street, it is never very busy. On a nice weather day, it is a pleasant experience to eat the gluten free French toast while enjoying the weather.
The service is always good too. I enthusiastically recommend this restaurant.
Obsessed with this place. Was in Dulles for two weeks and managed to get down to DC twice and went to District both times. I had their breakfast tacos the first time and their regular tacos and chips/guac the second time. You order on kiosks which is fun and easy and get to choose between like 25 different topping options. Their corn tortilla tacos come double wrapped and all bundled up together so they taste authentic and delicious. I got pretty much all the toppings. Their medium salsa is to die for. They have impossible chorizo and an option to select Gluten Free which was amazing. The guacamole was flavorful with a nice hint of lime. I love a good taco but these tacos were life changing🤌🏼
We really enjoyed our experience here. With our allergies (gluten and dairy) the staff was attentive and flexible with our needs. It’s always appreciated people know what is in the dishes they are making, and we were either redirected to other choices or a modification can be made.
The deviled eggs were prepared without dairy (in the mousse) and they were still delicious. Green beans and sweet potatoes were paired with our steaks and they amazing.
We also enjoyed our cocktails — Manhattan Noir — which were prepared perfectly, and topped with three Luxardo cherries.
Atmosphere was great as well. The boardwalk area is fun and vibrant. The Grill makes an excellent choice for a higher end meal in this area.

I enjoy the Royal for relatively celiac safe gluten free brunch. I haven’t tried their evening food options, but they do have lovely cocktails. It is a QR code type place, so fellow celiacs should ask for the gf menu before ordering and mark their dishes with gluten allergy/celiac. I’ve approached the counter before with questions and staff were chill and helpful. Good brunch spot, good first date spot on quiet evenings. The food and drinks are consistently tasty. I usually get one of the arepas for brunch. They usually seem to use Oatly, though I ask each time I order a coffee drink that has milk.
Note, it is quite loud inside at busy times (and occasionally loud outside from sirens passing by). Recommend reservations for busy times.
I would usually rate this restaurant higher. I have been to a different location before and had good service as well as they have gluten free options. This time after moving apartments I did a pick up order. I was excited for the lamb burger with the gluten free bread. My boyfriend got a burger and roommate got a Cuban panini. I would say the food was okay a 3.5 but my issue is how my boyfriend was treated when getting into the restaurant.
I sent my boyfriend in because I was driving. Told him to pick up the order with my name on it. He texts me asking for confirmation. That’s okay because a guy is picking up a girls order. He comes to the car and says the guy “looked him up and down and told he needs to show proof”.
I understand the asking for proof but it’s the tone. It’s the way you ask for things, the attitude you have. My boyfriend is North African/Arabic and it’s GIVING RACIAL PROFILING.
So imagine being emotionally exhausted from moving in the DC humidity and heat and then someone makes you feel like that at the end of your day. All to have a sub par burger.

MJ welcomed us so warmly & our sunlit table became a family moment we will treasure. The food is exquisitely prepared & served … egg white frittata in the iron pot, gluten-free options as well. Delish drinks! Boys loved their chicken & waffles … and MJ’s instincts on making special moments is unmatched. A new favorite!
The Rice Bar is a fun and delicious place to stop and get a quick meal! When you walk in, there is a wall where you can write an order for a custom rice or ramen bowl. They also have gluten free options, so there is a choice for everyone. You can see your bowl get prepared right in front of you and everything tastes so fresh. There is a wide range of toppings and sauces. Delicious!!!
Tried to go on a Sunday at 6pm. They state online they are open until 7pm. Had been looking forward to it since we had heard they have gluten free batter. Got there and they were closed. Very disappointing.
The food is quite good. I really enjoy the oysters Rockefeller as it is one of the first I have seen that is gluten free and tastes good. Typically I order the steak frites which is always good. The other times when I have ordered things such as the chicken sandwich and schnitzel, I have not always been pleased. I believe the chicken sandwich is juicy, but a tad bland. For the schnitzel, it is definitely not traditional. I saw the idea of what was being put out, but it did not fully resonate with my palate. Nonetheless, I hope to be back soon for a couple drinks and oysters.
The must visit bagel/coffee place in Georgetown!
From Food, service, atmosphere, this place deserves 5 stars.
They have many breakfast and lunch bagel sandwiches even gluten free options.
I tried the mountain view on a maple salt & pepper bagel it was delicious!
The bagel was so chewy, eggs were fluffy and lakes were crispy and salty & sweet bagel just made your morning happy!
(Original serve in plain bagel so ask for maple salt& pepper bagel)
If you are chocolate lover, try the chocolate babka muffin. Freshly baked and it has layers unlike regular muffin with chocolate swirls.
I also tried the signature maple french Toast latte and it is not too sweet and not too hot just perfect combination of coffee with touch of maple taste. you should definitely try!
Special shout out to Michael who is the best!!! He was so kind, friendly and helpful. He definitely made my morning even brighter:)
Such a cute pink house you can’t miss it!
&pizza - Hotel Hive is an excellent stop for lovers of personalized pizza 🍕✨ This place allows you to choose your own toppings and assemble your pizza on the spot, exactly how you want it, which makes each visit unique and special. 👌🥗🍄
A great advantage is that they offer gluten-free dough, ideal for those looking for more inclusive options 🌱👏. I tried a custom combination and it was delicious, with fresh and well prepared ingredients. The pizza cooks quickly, which is also perfect for those who don't want to wait long.
The atmosphere of the place is modern and relaxed, ideal for a quick bite to eat or enjoying a casual meal with friends 🏙️✨ The prices are affordable for the quality and customization they offer, making it an excellent option in DC.
&pizza - Hotel Hive combines flavor, inclusive options and an interactive experience that makes it stand out, as in all its branches. Highly recommended! 🍕🙌

I had heard many good reviews and had wanted to try this restaurant for a while. The restaurant is a nice place to have dinner with friends, enjoy a date night, or have a drink at the bar by yourself. I really liked the ambiance and atmosphere of the restaurant, and the service, food, and drinks were good. I also appreciated that they had many vegan and gluten-free options. Our waiter recommended the 40-layer lasagna, and it was good. I will definitely be back for drinks and to try other items on their menu.

Overall, it's okay. The premise is that you realize that this is a bar and not a pure restaurant. Evaluate the food with 4 stars based on bar standards and 3 stars with restaurant standards.
Business was very good. There were still many empty seats when I took my seat at 16:55. By 6 o'clock, it was full and people started queuing up. The environment is very good, but there are two problems. First, the music is too loud, which somewhat affects the dining experience; second, there are a lot of fine dust floating in the air, which is very conspicuous in the sun.
Taking advantage of happy hours, I ordered a dirty martini. Between vodka and gin, I chose the gin, which was average and not very tasty. Gambas al Ajillo garlic shrimp is not delicious, not very fresh, has a fishy smell of quick-frozen shrimp, is not processed very well, and is far inferior to Jaleo's garlic shrimp. Roasted pork belly is crispy and charred in the mouth and delicious, and the aroma of fat is fully brought out, but it feels too greasy as you eat it, and the layer of aji amarillo sauce underneath can't relieve the greasiness. Flank steak is also delicious, but sometimes the burnt parts are a bit bitter. Eggplant caponata is very cool and soothing, and goes well with greasy pork belly. Jamon Serrano ham is very delicious, delicious and refreshing. Bread is free and tastes average. It's okay to dip it in olive oil. The grilled octopus still tastes like Chinese gluten, which is not delicious.
Finally, I want to complain about the price: tapas in Spain focus on cost-effectiveness and affordability, but in the United States, the price is several times higher. Paying a lot of money to eat a small dish, to some extent, loses the original fun of tapas. Japanese restaurants in the United States, especially izakayas, also have similar problems.
All things considered, it's worth revisiting occasionally.

We really enjoyed our first visit and have already recommended the bakery to others. Staff was friendly and efficient.
The vegan hot chocolate on a stick was really fun and quite delicious. The vegan gluten free baked items we got were really tasty. The bagel I had was yummy, but quite small. Perfect for what I wanted, which was a snack, rather than a breakfast.
It's a very small space. Few chairs to sit in with some space that could have been used for seating instead used for holding to go bags, etc.
I am looking forward to going back and trying some of their vegan sandwiches.
Vibes are great, food is pretty good, good vegetarian and gluten free options. But service is very slow and makes a fair number of minor mistakes. It’s like being in a Paris cafe, both good and bad.
We have been to the Nashville location many times, and we're so excited to try the location in DC. The food was great, and we now have new favorites that we hadn't tried before. This is a great place for anyone. But especially for those with celiac or just need gluten-free without the worry of cross contamination. The crispy zucchini is a must.
First time at this location but not first time at the franchise.
Atmosphere and general service:
We had to wait a minute or two for the hostess to come talk to us and seat us (it was a Sunday afternoon and we were the only ones standing at the door so it wasn’t busy). After seating, we waited about 10-15 minutes to get water or any type of service. We flagged down two servers and the manager in the process. The menu for that specific time (brunch) had multiple items marked as unavailable for weekend brunch, which made no sense…why put it on if it’s not available? Or at least, write it in something else other than 8.5 font. The restaurant was at less than 50% capacity but food took almost 30 mins. We came in at 2:20, they took our order at around 2:35, food came out at 3:01 (two basic entrees and an app).
Food runner was fake-nice and passive-aggressive…uncalled for.
Server (after assignment) was really nice. He did his best, all things considered.
Manager tried to help as well, which was nice.
Food:
App: we got crispy Brussels sports. Perfect amount of sweet and savory, pretty on point. Would absolutely get it again.
Entree #1: vegan chicken sandwich. Was meh. The soy protein had good texture and consistency but it was lacking flavor. Even dipping it in ketchup and dowsing it in hot sauce couldn’t rescue it.
Entree #2: Lamb burger with gluten free bread. Meat was pretty good, well seasoned. But bread was cold. Not warm, just cold.
Fries with entrees: cooked perfectly but again, they lack flavor (but ketchup and bbq sauce rescued them…thank god).
I will not come back to this location and I’ll think twice before going back to another location. But I just might door dash them Brussels sprouts.
