We were in the area and looking for somewhere tasty to go for lunch, and after seeing the reviews, we decided we wanted to come to blackies!
Even though we were a walk in, they were able to accommodate us and accommodate us, they did.
Most of the menu can be made GF, and there are pages, upon pages to this menu. Not only did I enjoy my meal (I got the French Onion Cheesesteak with Fries and it was SUPERB đ¤đ˝), but my gluten eating family also had a meal. My Dad even said it was the BEST Ruben he's ever had (and he loves a ruben).
Since it was our first time there, our wonderful server was able to field all of my GF/Celiac-related questions with ease.
The restaurant is owned by two lovely women: one of whom has Celiac. They have dedicated fryers, AND they have separate kitchen tools (knives, utensils, cutting boards, aprons, etc.) for the preparation of GF meals. On top of all that, my food was brought out FIRST and SEPARATELY. Our server even brought out a new bottle of ketchup with my food so that there wasn't any CC.
I felt so well taken care of by the staff, and so safe while we were there, it was a new level of Celiac-care in this dining experience. I cannot more highly recommend blackies if you're ever in RI/Providence!!!
I love this placeâŚ. they were one of the first restaurants to get on-board with having gluten-free options several years ago. Prices are a little high, but all prices are a little high. I love all the artwork they have displayed everywhere. I definitely recommend this place. â¤ď¸
I have to drive 45 minutes to go to physical therapy in Wakefield but, I always look forward to getting my wrap after. I'm greeted with a smile which means a lot because most people forget to connect with others. The gluten free and vegan options are top notch and I always leave feeling full and healthy. The staff have such beautiful attitudes and I'm so happy I found this spot. Thank you!
I love Jersey Mike's and the fact that they offer gluten free bread. I have been to several different locations . What I didn't love on my last visit to this one was , when asked if it was a preference or allergy as soon as I said allergy the girl litteraly rolled her eyes at me ! I was so taken back I was in shock .The fact I was in a hurry kept me from speaking out as to what the problem was . There was no person in front of me and one person behind me , it wasn't a busy long line waiting .I shouldn't have to feel bad about ordering gluten free bread at an establishment that offers it ! Add to the fact she didn't follow thier own protocal and use the reserved slicer and also wiped down the counter leaving crumbs behind everywhere.
When entering you're met with a quant and clean sitting area but the real deal is the quick, friendly and accurate service paired with a ton of healthy food options. My favorite is the gluten free Athena wrap that is full of veggies, grilled chicken and uses balsamic and hummus for added flavor. I also add banana peppers and olives because I want even more veggies. A decent spot to stop and sit but you can also order ahead and take your meal out to eat somewhere scenic, or home because you don't feel like cooking. Lol
The goods - the cashier was extremely professional and courteous. He was also trying to stock everything, put out floor mats, and clean the tables all at lunch time.
Had three orders - one gluten free bun that was stale, dry and fell apart. Terrible.
The bathrooms, menâs and womenâs, were disgusting.
Lastly, it smelled like they have t cleaned the grease in there ever.
I wouldnât really mind, Iâve come to expect this as the New England Good Enough service, but I had raved about SB to some friends. They will it be back.
Super healthy food, friendly staff, good prices, huge portions!! I love that the grain bowls are gluten free and customizable!! Good vibe atmosphere! đ
I arrived 30 seconds (10:30am) before the switched over to lunch menu. Who wants lunch at 10:30am?! Told me they did not know what was gluten free or not and directed me to their app to find out. Well, when your in a drive thru your not going to hold up the line. This is why I have never been there nor will I return. Please, educate your staff!
So professional Iâm impressed - this store is the elite - our guy who made our food was so pleasant. My teenage daughter has Celiac and asked if he could change his gloves, he was so kind, thanked her for letting him know and he more than exceeded our expectations. He wiped the whole counter space down and washed his hands up to his elbows, he made my daughterâs food start to finish, AND he didnât use the food containers from the front - he went to the walk in and got the new food containers (for toppings). This was the best experience Iâve ever had at a Chipotle and the food was excellent, store also looked extremely clean. If I could give more stars I would.
Date of Visit: 2/22/23 -
The service was horrible that evening.
My wife has a gluten allergy, she informed them. She was asked to validate her clam by answering more questions.
They did not do the standard change over, seen in other locations when informed of an allergy.
When asking for Chips and Quac was told it was close to closing they were not making any more. They still had 3 hours and 15 minutes until closing, according to posted hours. She was also charged for sour cream. She did not order extra, just ask to put it on the side.
They could not give her change from the purchase (did not have any) Could not provide her a printed receipt (They donât have Receipt paper.) This location was not ready for business. updated note: corporate reached out to me and asked me to contact them about my experience. I did in less than 24 hours. So I shared the same information on their own website, and corporate never contacted me.
My partner has never been glutened here. Itâs always a safe choice getting a wrap for the beach just make sure you donât get anything that has breaded ingredients of course. I donât think they offer gf bread but I could be very wrong.
My daughter, her friend, and I enjoyed lunch here a few days ago. Two of the three of us are seriously gluten-free diners. The staff took good care of the orders to avoid any gluten ingredients or any cross contamination. The Find Me Gluten Free site says they have a gluten free menu. I suppose they do, but it's not printed or posted. You have to ask what you can safely eat if you are a GF diner. The answer is "nearly everything". One of us had beef shawarma, one had chicken shawarma, and the third had chicken fingers and fries. (You can take a person to a Middle Eastern restaurant but you cannot prevent him/her from eating Chicken Fingers. (Sigh.)) The bill was reasonable (about $10/person), and the food was very tasty. The portions are BIG; I couldn't even finish mine. All in all I enjoyed my visit very much and look forward to visiting again when I am in the area.
The best awful-awfuls (milkshakes) money can buy. Their dine-in menu is well priced, with gluten free/vegan options. And the staff is always so kind and accommodating. An absolute must-stop for anyone visiting Newport for the first time or the hundredth.
We arrived on the early Ferry and, after waking around the old harbor part of town for over an hour, we became really hungry.
As we walked down the street we heard REM and saw an open door. The place smelled great and we were greeted by a friendly guy setting up the menus.
We each had a gluten free cheese and egg and bacon sandwich, fantastically cooked and served with a complementary small fresh-squeezed OJ. Amazing bacon! We ate looking out to a beautiful winter Atlantic Ocean view, playing board games.
I will definitely go back next time Iâm on Block Island.
The only reason I can't give it 5 stars for the food is because I've had real Birria and although it was very yummy, it wasn't 100 authentic and it was a little pricey. That being said, delicious, a great fast option for food, good service, clean dining room and alot of options for toppings and sauces. I was able to get a dairy free, gluten free keto option. Needless to say that's not always possible for me when I eat out.
I would highly recommend this Chipotle! The staff was extremely attentive with my mom's gluten allergy and took the time to change gloves and wipe everything down before making her order. It definitely made her feel comfortable eating there which is often a challenge as her allergy is very severe. The staff went above and beyond and the food was absolutely delicious!!
Had a frustrating experience dining here for a Super Bowl dinner with my friends. I have celiac, meaning I canât eat gluten, so I was happy to see that the menu had gf labels. However, I noticed that some items on the menu werenât labeled gf when they normally would be at other restaurants. I asked the server if the potato skins are safe for me to eat, and she responded dismissively, saying, âtheyâre potatoes, so they should be gluten-free.â I made sure that she told the kitchen about my allergy, after she provided me no reassurance that i would be taken care of. She then apologized to the whole table for her attitude, perhaps she saw that my friends and I were visibly shocked by her response to my ask for clarification regarding my serious dietary restriction. She explained that she was serving multiple tables on a busy night, but honestly, that should never affect how allergies are handled.
